19.01.2022 Maitree VR team had an amazing time on their recent collaboration with Borneo Adventure whose excellent guide Paul took the team deep into the jungles of the Batang Ai in Sarawak Malaysia in search of wild orangutans. The team were creating a story in partnership with Borneo Adventure about the close relationship between the survival of the orangutan and the traditional folklore of the orangutan protectors, the Iban people. 08.01.2022 Batang Ai is one of the last secure habitats for orangutans in Malaysia. Join local guide Paul Matthew from Borneo Adventure on a journey in search of wild oran...gutans. Along the way uncover the folklore thats helped create one of the most successful conservation efforts in Sarawak and learn about the unique relationship that binds the Iban people to the jungle and the orangutans. In a first for Sarawak - using virtual reality to promote a travel experience - we wanted to bring an important conservation story to life. We want people to feel what it is like to drift down the Batang Ai in a longboat, sit in a longhouse with Iban elders and hear their stories, and explore the thick Bornean jungle in search of orangutans. It was a great honour working with the passionate group of conservationists at Borneo Adventure in creating this story.
