23.01.2022 Spring has arrived for sunday morning tennis!!

22.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE With the increasing restrictions on social and community activities in the ACT and following consultation with ACT Government, the Tennis... ACT Board, and feedback from the Canberra tennis community, Tennis ACT has recommended that clubs and coaches temporarily cease all tennis activity in the ACT by 11pm Saturday 28 March 2020. The recommendations outlines that: - all tennis programmes and coaching be cancelled, including one on one coaching, until further notice; - all club and social play be cancelled until further notice; - and all tennis clubs and centres close until further notice. The health and safety of the Canberra community is the priority at this time. Please stay safe and take care. Full statement - https://bit.ly/2xsnQyO

22.01.2022 Update on recommendation for one on one coaching in the ACT. Further to our announcement on Friday 27 March recommending all tennis activity in the ACT cease, t...he Tennis ACT Board in consultation with ACT Sport and Recreation and the tennis community has reviewed the decision on one-on-one coaching. The decision has been made to align one-on-one coaching with the Federal Government restrictions around personal training, therefore the recommendation has been revised that-one-on-one coaching can continue in the ACT in strict compliance with the Federal Government restrictions and the Community Guidelines for continued play (ACT). This recommendation comes into effect from 7am Sunday 5 April. A coach is defined as the coaching business or employee of the coaching business who is engaged with the coaching rights at the tennis facility. Please note, the final decision on whether one-on-one coaching will continue rests with the individual coaching business, in consultation with their club. Some coaching businesses may still continue to cease operations and we fully support this decision. One-on-one coaching is the only tennis activity that has been recommended for continued play at this time. We have received a lot of feedback around casual court hire, but at this time the recommendation still remains that this does not continue. The majority of clubs in the ACT are operated and run by volunteers. The requirements that would be placed on volunteer committees in order to allow court hire to continue are substantial and we do not feel at this time we can make this recommendation to volunteers, many of which who fall into the high risk categories for COVID-19. We appreciate your understanding and patience with this matter. The updated Guidelines for continued play are available here - https://www.tennis.com.au/act/?p=16193.

22.01.2022 Members and visitors while we encourage the use of court 4 our clay court, it should not be used if it is wet. Today I spent a some time remediating the damage a user had caused by playing on a (very) wet court. There were deep indentations on many places on the court. This damage is unacceptable. If you are making indentation on the court you should not be using the court. If the person or persons who did the damage want to own up it would be appreciated. We can look at training them in the care of clay courts which involves in dragging the roller over then when they have the correct amount of moisture usually the day or so after a good rainfall. They could also make a donation to the club to assist in court maintenance. Simply use this page and select a reasonable amount. https://majuratennis.com.au/visitor_fees.php
