25.01.2022 Clear skies and sunshine forecast for inaugural Majura Valley Bush Festival on Sunday

25.01.2022 Another cold start to the morning today in the Majura Valley. Nothing has changed as we #tbt to this photo taken over half a century ago of snow cover on Avonley Road outside the Majura Post Office.

19.01.2022 Dust clouds and sausage sizzles filled the air yesterday for the inaugural Majura Valley Bush Festival. Plenty of activities were on show to highlight the region's freshest produce, with the turn out of people, a sure sign the festival will continue into the future.

18.01.2022 Archie's heading to Belgium to represent Australia in the Mounted Games World Championships - Most of the expenses have to be self-funded so we have set up a site for any sponsorship we can secure. Any assistance is tax deductible and would be greatly appreciated.

12.01.2022 Unfortunately the Majura Valley Bush Festival will not take place this year. We had great plans for it and know that community support for it is very strong. Government had in fact provided a grant of $30,000 towards it as well. Please understand that the purpose of the Festival is to highlight and showcase traditional bush activities, but more importantly to demonstrate early settler and pre-European heritage. Awareness of this is limited in the wider community and it is our hope that landholders in the valley can secure meaningful leases in order to safeguard the heritage sites of the area for future generations. In the absence of real progress in this area we feel currently unable to host the festival this year, but hope to get it all sorted out so that we can come back stronger than ever next year.

05.01.2022 A fantastic effort from Daramalan College students, helping out an ACT farmer to revegetate their property. Within a short few hours, they had extended an area ...of Critically Endangered Box Gum Grassy Woodlands, planting 200 native trees and shrubs. As these seedlings grow, they’ll add to the remnant vegetation and older revegetation, providing pathways for native animals to travel across this landscape. Thanks to our fantastic landholder community for working with us on these projects, and the ACT and Australian Governments for financial support.
