25.01.2022 So excited to collaborate with this creative powerhouse @locallovely ~ Sophie and I are brainstorming this morning about how to make our upcoming workshop: Small Business Breakthrough that extra bit special and oh so useful. Want to join us? Sign up via the link in my bio - theres only 2-weeks to go! (And if you came to #thehuddleorange, shift through your goodie bag for the flyer which gives you a neat discount). Image thanks to @clancyjob at a workshop of theirs that I attended late last year. This is where it all began!

25.01.2022 Ive been relishing morning walks at Yamba - a peaceful hour! Im not a natural early riser but each day Ive watched the sun come up, I feel just that much more positive and excited for life. On my walks Ive been listening to @drjoedispenza audio book Breaking the habit of being yourself, a lesson in manifestation One nugget of wisdom (among so many) is his suggestion to change your routine if you want things to change (because nothing can change if you dont - or mo...st importantly - your thoughts dont change). Im still letting it all settle but I do find on holidays - and in Yamba particularly - I enter this fresh, exciting, creative headspace - a change of energy. Do you find the same thing? What are you working on manifesting this year? For me its a joyful family home, abundance in business, space for adventure and the all-elusive lotus pose See more

24.01.2022 A timely reminder from Donna Farhi landed in my inbox last week. I was suffering a back injury, marinating in that all-too familiar feeling of overwhelm (like most mums) and generally worrying about the things that were ahead. Im lucky to be healthy most of the time, but my back injury is a casually recurring reminder of the challenge of staying positive when not feeling 100%. I was so grateful to be reminded that each moment is new. There is no sense in worrying over a f...uture that hasnt happened yet (fiction) and there is true wisdom in responding to whats alive right now (reality). For others seeking some timely wisdom, here is the rest of the quote from Donna: "As we enter the New Year, Im reminded through the wisdom of Charlotte Selver that every moment of our life is essentially new if we can receive it with an acuity of awareness. This means neither being stolidly wedged in the past or teetering with anxiety over a future that hasnt yet happened. Like many of you this year Im determined not to squeeze too much into any one day so that it is possible to truly take pleasure in the simple moments. That way, when Im hanging the laundry I might feel the sun on my face, the deliciousness of the morning air, the radiance of the sky. . . that way, when Im dropping a box of vegetables at a neighbors house I might be able to relax into listening to her troubles without rushing. I might be able to be present to what that exchange has to offer us both. By doing less, by adding one less thing onto my To-Do list, I have a hunch that Ill actually achieve more by seeing each task, activity, job, and exchange through from its beginning to its middle to its end. When every moment becomes a moment of learning, even practices that weve done a thousand times can be experienced anew. This freshness of awareness will be my focus in each and every event this coming year." ~ Donna Farhi

23.01.2022 Home from a holiday with lots of sweet moments like this, the best of beach days - and we sometimes had it to ourselves! - and a deluge of welcome rain the whole 10 hour trip home (except for the last leg to Orange - on its way hopefully!). Im back in town for The Huddle cocktail party tonight and main event tomorrow. So looking forward to catching up with so many inspiring, creative business women and meeting many more. So awesome when people like Pip @jumbledonline go out on a limb to make things like this happen. Everyone benefits! @ Yamba, New South Wales

21.01.2022 I spent the best afternoon with this crew @cheneysuthers ~ what a progressive bunch of women requesting a meditation session as part of their team building offsite day. Theyre a wonderful bunch of humans who I would do business with any day! Thanks for having me lead a little session on stress & resilience. And a shout out must go out to Prue & Swainy @hiveorange ~ BRAVO guys! Its a beautiful creation I just want to be a part of. Something tells me Ill be back ... swipe for a few pictures, those colours @ Orange, New South Wales

21.01.2022 GLITTER & INSTA - sums it up really! I wasnt going to post again about The Huddle again, because I know it has flooded everyones Instagram feeds ... but then I saw the luscious photography by @clancyjob and had to go at it again! Such an inspiring event @jumbledonline @igloustore ~ I want to shout out to Jane Cay @birdsnestonline for creating the workplace culture of my dreams. I do the work I do, in hope that one day, mental health, happiness and being human are i...ntegral to business - but Janes already doing it! Birdsnest hosts daily meditation for its staff and is constantly seeking ways to encourage compassion, kindness and good communication in its team. Hats off to you, Jane! Third image along - Sophie Hansen @locallovely, who is no stranger to my Instagram account (Im one of many fan-girls). Sophie has kindly offered to guest teach a Content Marketing & Newsletter module at my Small Business Breakthrough workshop (running last week of Feb. - see bio for details). So stoked to have her in the course and I know everyone is going to learn so much from Sophie! Sophie is pictured here with @steviesayssocial - who had many social media gems for every single person in the room - & @briony_marsh who taught the crowd an invaluable lesson around knowing when to close your business and pursue other passions - thank you for your honesty! First + Fourth ~ The highly entertaining and deeply caring Amy from @confetti_rebels. I must confess Im new to Confetti Rebels but LOVED the dance your tits off, its Sunday segment and have been trawling through Amys offer of screen printed t-shirts - Be kind you your mind is speaking to me! Thanks to all the mentors and organisers for bringing a beautiful event to Orange. Thanks to the other 450 women in the room for making it a memorable weekend #thehuddleorange @ Orange, New South Wales See more

18.01.2022 Day #2 ~ Mastery Meditation workshop. Starting out this morning with a moving meditation to connect to and wake up the body. Then, over tea well look at Thoughts (you are not your thoughts) and how to remain clear headed despite, well, thoughts .

17.01.2022 Amazing A poem by Paul Hawken (excerpt in my Mastery Meditation booklet pictured)

15.01.2022 Im enjoying the quiet peace that comes with three days of soft rain in Orange. One of my favourite quotes from Paul Hawken is above. If you havent read it, finding the full version is a must! A reminder of how precious and miraculous our home is

15.01.2022 In a months time, Ill be gathering with an intimate group of 12 people to explore what it means to create a business you love; a business that has meaning for you, that offers value to others and brings your unique personality and character to the world. The meeting of like-minds like this is so important for generating momentum in your own business, because you become more connected to the purpose-led movement. I always feel so inspired, informed and reinforced after workshops that I attend and I am putting everything into this workshop to create the same for you. Feb. 28 - Mar. 01 -- Tickets can be found via the link in my bio and: https://wearemakedo.com.au//small-business-breakthrough-pr

15.01.2022 Is there a direction, a practice or activity that you feel drawn to, that aligns with your dharmic path ~ the things that make you feel intensely alive? Go do it! The world needs people who have come alive. Wisdom today from @elizabeth_gilbert_writer & Howard Thurman.

14.01.2022 A note to all #thehuddleorange folks, Im offering a $300 discount to you off any of my workshops this year (listed below). Ill archive this post tomorrow (doesnt really fit with my Instagram aesthetic you know?! ) so save this post for details.

13.01.2022 Basking in the generosity of Pip Brett, who gave me the mic for 5 minutes yesterday to guide the 450 (high energy) women in the room through a grounding meditation at The Huddle. There was so much to love about this event, but for me personally, Pips generous spirit was the highlight (and there were many!). Pip doesnt hesitate to help other people - she is ALL about collaboration over competition. Now, I want to pay the help forward by asking how can I help you? I dont have Pips following, business experience or influence - but I do have an engaged community and I know my subject matter well! Send me questions, comments, requests - esp while Im in such a good mood @ Orange, New South Wales

12.01.2022 HUSTLE. HUSTLE. MELTDOWN. "The work life balance thing is BS," said a successful panel member. "I dont have any friends left," said another. "My family is always telling me to get off my phone, but I love working on my business all the time," contributed another voice. When I heard this advice at a recent business event, my heart sank.... The honesty is refreshing, sure. And no doubt hustle can lead to success, to building great businesses. But it will almost certainly lead to burnout. We can all work at maximum to make a deadline. But if that becomes the norm - well, we know how this story ends ... Weve been taught that the only way to be successful is to work harder, faster and for longer. But weve been fed a bit fat lie. The truth is this: Working too much puts your health at risk, which I would argue puts your business at risk. High levels of stress contribute to "allostatic load" (the wear and tear on the body). This can impact fertility, digestion and gut health, the bodys ability to heal, and can lead to chronic illness. An always on culture means people are becoming more stressed, more frequently. But instead of resting, people keep themselves busy with other things. Prolonged periods of stress shrinks grey matter in the brain, in the area related to self-control (aka flying off the handle). Very few people can hold high levels of concentration - the more productive state of working - for more than 4-5 hours a day total. In fact, the average office worker gets interrupted every 3-10 minutes, and it can take 5-25 minutes to refocus. Multi-tasking lowers IQ, makes us miss important information and make more mistakes. People who take regular breaks are wildly more productive than people who push through. So why do people insist on doing more? Because when you pause, it becomes uncomfortable. The voice inside says: "You need to stay in control. Youre not doing enough. YOU are not enough. Meditation is about being able to sit with that discomfort. To learn to chuckle at your ego. To let the churning thoughts settle. To breathe properly. Revive your body. Discover the deeper, but quieter intelligence within you. Discover the deeper intelligence that guides life. To become clearer on what really matters to you. To begin to be honest about whats actually moving the dial on your goals, and whats only incessant productivity. When youre busy, when youre working all the time, this wise voice cannot be heard above the noise. Do you want to learn to turn your mind into an ally, over this domineering master? Join me next weekend for Mastery Meditation. The potential is nothing short of life changing. I promise ... ~ Photo by Carl Heyerdahl on Unsplash

11.01.2022 Forgive me if Im stating the bloody obvious (but then, after 10+ years yogi-ing Im still amazed at how true this is) -- The mind influences your body. The body influences the mind.... And we hear this all the time, but can you really understand this at a cellular level? The practice of understanding this is not so much about doing, but being - getting out of your own way to allow the systems and processes (of your body) do what they know how to do - no intellect needed!! . 10.01.2022 Our home for the Small Business Breakthrough course, happening this weekend @unionbankorange ~ Ive loved our little Bank Room at this characterful, quintessentially Orange space. And Sarah from The Union Bank has been the most incredible host. A particular shout out for the last minute run to Officeworks on my behalf Truly above & beyond. Thank you Sarah!! Yesterday in the course we workshopped customers - how to attract the right customer to your business... and keep them coming back. I feel very lucky to have my customers - people who want to spend their weekend delving into the brand of their business, its potential as a purpose led business and share their knowledge and skills with each other. Thank you @academy_coffee @kitchen_to_table @yambayogaretreats @efficientairandenergy @lokaleblumen @sashasdailyblooms @helloroadtripcreative @locallovely Emma & Rosie for joining me in this work ps swipe for @botanicaflora every bunch an artwork! @ The Union Bank See more

09.01.2022 In times like these we all need simple grounding, not to mention a good few deep breaths. I am making my 6-minute meditation free to one and all! Simply visit my website, navigate to shop and use code makedomeditate at checkout. Id love to know if it benefits you at all... it will at least help create a semblance of community in this strange time! And will help me feel connected (please?). I recommend doing this outside in the sun, preferably with the smell of soil in your... nostrils. Ive just been listening to a podcast on just how powerful the natural world is when it comes to regulating our immune systems, maintaining good mental health and a thriving belly of microbiota (because we humans are about 10% human cells, 90% resident microbes). I plan on spending a good chunk of each day in nature - perhaps our change in circumstance is an opportunity to bring in all the things I was too busy for before? How about you? See more

08.01.2022 Get grounded. Is meditation something you want to make a habit of this year? 07.01.2022 A recurring theme that comes up in client and peer conversations is around quitting a job you hate and following your heart. This might seem radical, or idealistic, but for many its an omnipresent reality. As my yoga teacher Angus Ford Robertson @batterseayoga said to me in an interview once: "If youre not following your true path and what feels right, your soul is withering by the second." Angus is a smart man. But while many people have the desire to do somethin...g different or start something new, the reality can be scary - and hard! Heres how to prepare yourself for taking the leap - or support yourself if youve already done it. Swipe left to right -> See more

07.01.2022 A student, Margie, made a comment over the weekend in our meditation workshop that has really stuck with me... the idea of operating / living according to a season. Not necessarily the season we are in (though that makes sense for lots of reasons) but more of an active choice around whether youre ready for blossoming, growth & expansion, or responding to the desire for introspection and quiet. Off the back of a busy, high-energy time, Im welcoming the opportunity take the less active of the seasons for a time. To rest, yes, but also to see what takes shape without my own striving and effort. Its not the usual way of things in modern living, but I think we can take advantage of high energy, growth times if we give equal balance to down time. What do you think?

06.01.2022 I was thrilled to come back from holidays to find a delivery of handmade, ceramic cups from Sim @winterwares. Sim created a series of mystery packs and donated all proceeds to Animals Australia off the back of the bushfires and their impact on Australian wildlife. Such a thoughtful solution Sim! I hope these cups bring you joy, her note said. ... Sim and I met (over email!) when she supported the crowd funding campaign for my book. She was embarking on a career change and the topic seemed made for her (doing what you love, living with purpose). I, in turn, discovered her beautiful handmade ceramics and fell in love! I open every email from Sim, because along with her gorgeous artisan goods, there are always nuggets of wisdom around living slowly, happily. Its a friendship that wouldnt have happened without the internet. And WE WILL meet in person one day - perhaps through a collaboration!

06.01.2022 On a well-earned break by participants in my Mastery Meditation weekend at Botanic Gardens. This morning we explored the foundations of meditation, interoception and the art of sensing in the body, we looked at The Koshas (that we humans are more than simply physical structures), we went into detail on the deep core muscles and their connection to centred-ness ~ then we tied it all together in a moving meditation class. This arvo well be looking at the nervous system, how to breathe well, and how its all connected. Then well finish with a delicious restorative class, which should lead to a deep nights sleep

05.01.2022 In a recent meditation with @rawyoga.co, I received the insight make space for adventure. As someone who tends to squeeze a lot into this little life of mine, I do try to pull back and let life lead every now and again so Im open: What adventures is life sending my way? Well, Im seriously mulling on taking the plunge in attending my friend Alis amazing Wild Weekend event on Flinders Island, Tasmania (see @lokaleblumen). I have two small humans - and its n...ot always easy to get away, but sometimes the most remote adventures are the most precious, dont you agree? Ali has an amazing itinerary in store for her gathering: There will be gin tasting at the brand spanking new @furneauxdistillery + incredible 2-3 course meals with vino prepared by chefs at @theflinderswharf + the most incredible accommodation on Killecrankie Beach (including the famous cray shack ) + heavenly accommodation at @quoin_farm too. The most special thing about this weekend is that Ali will host maker workshops, showing participants how to forage for local flora and make their collections into works of art - its what she does in her work with @lokaleblumen. Im so damn proud of Ali! She has created such a special, values-driven business that is simply beautiful in its encouragement of helping people to take better care of nature, by paying attention to it ~ there are a handful of spots left for this Wild Weekend - visit @lokaleblumen to sign up. + Swipe to learn a little more about the weekend: 1. Our host Ali Shillington 2. A Banskia sketch by Ali that is so beautiful, dont you agree? 3. A foraged installation by Ali Natural order of things 4. Another installation by Ali at @theflinderswharf 5. Home for the weekend 6. Jo & Tom @quoin_farm 7. The natural and wild beauty, Flinders Island @ Flinders Island, Tasmania See more
