24.01.2022 | Holiday Break Info | Makerspace Adelaide will be open Christmas eve, before closing from Friday 25th December to January 1st. We'll be back open as normal from Saturday 2nd January!

20.01.2022 Over 8 sessions this woodworking short course will introduce members of the maker community to wood machining and further woodworking skills whilst constructing their own set of wooden tools. This course teaches woodworking hand skills, introduces machining timber, and helps to develop confidence using a variety of workshop tools. This workshop will cover the construction of a set of wooden tools that you can keep and use in your woodworking projects including: * Marking gaug...e * Mallet * 300mm miter square Participants will also work together in small groups to learn how to build a woodworking bench ( to be kept at Makerspace Adelaide ). Perfect for those that have completed the woodworking essentials workshop series and are looking for the next step, or those who have a trade background and are looking to learn more about machining timber, or setting up their own home woodworking studio. All sessions take place on-site at Makerspace Adelaide with small group sizes and direct instruction from an experienced wood-worker, cost is inclusive of all materials. IMPORTANT INFO Places are limited and bookings are essential. Participants must have previously completed a Woodworking Induction Session at Makerspace Adelaide. Participants also must have either: * Completed the previous woodworking essentials workshop series or: * Have some training or experience working in trade

19.01.2022 We're making our own electricity from the sun! Thanks to a Community Energy Efficiency and Solar Grant, we were able to install a 10kW solar system, to help reduce our electricity bill and our carbon footprint.

18.01.2022 Mend your clothes in company and/or learn basic DIY hand mending with Laura Bring your clothes to be revived, sewing kit and consumables, we have sewing machines, some equipment and limited consumables for you to use. A copy of Erin Lewis-Fitzgerald's book "Modern Mending" will be on hand with plenty of ideas on how to darn, patch and sew old clothes back to life!

13.01.2022 In partnership with Amazon, Makerspace Adelaide is hosting a (free) two-day workshop on artificial intelligence and machine learning using the AWS DeepRacer platform! You'll learn to code, train, and deploy Machine Learning to create a fully autonomous race car model able to navigate a racetrack in a time trial. No experience with machine learning or artificial intelligence is required - just curiosity! (An understanding of python or similar language is recommended!) There'...ll be an opportunity to complete a virtual race (and maybe even win some prizes... ) You can even take your DeepRacer model into global competitions if you want. 11.01.2022 Workshop Closed! Due to the extreme heat today and tomorrow, we will be officially closing our workshop until Sunday. The safety of our volunteers is important to us, and heatwaves are a restriction. The workshop will be open again on Sunday!

02.01.2022 Help those in need by crafting for charity! Sewing for Charity Australia are a not for profit organisation that provides handmade items to those in need. Our craft sessions are open to all anyone that wants to sew, knit, crochet, cut, iron or simply catch up with our group are welcome to attend. You are welcome to work on current Sewing for Charity Australia projects, or bring your own along.... Everyone is willing to share their skills and knowledge with each other.
