22.01.2022 Meet our Partner - Flying Arts Flying Arts is an arts and cultural development organisation which has been delivering visual arts projects and services to regional and remote Queensland since 1971. The Association has played a leading role in inspiring artists and communities, as well as helping to overcome the impacts of regional isolation and remote living. The organisation has been involved in CQ Shopfront since the early phases of protyping the model and has played a key role in co-delivering the workshop series. Their aim is to continue to play a support role to Makers’ Shopfront as a booking agency for regional host organisations and assisting with marketing and promotion.
20.01.2022 As part of the first ever Makers' Shopfront program, the team headed West to the rural town of Barcaldine. Shelley & Katie met with local group Artesian Originals and hosted a two-day Business for Creatives Workshop with some of their local makers. Based on the successful CQ Shopfront model, this workshop is written by artist for artists, guiding them through the process of establishing their arts practice as a business. From initial product ideas (and there were many!) to ...fine tuning core values and strategies that set each individual practice apart. Thank you to Artesian Originals and the wonderful participants for a great weekend. This workshop was made possible through the Regional Arts Development Fund in partnership between the Queensland Government and Barcaldine Shire Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland. #Barcaldine #ArtesianOriginals #RADF #MakersShopfront

10.01.2022 How lucky were we to be staying in Barcaldine and exploring Artesian Originals beautiful shop in time for Mother’s day In April, Shelley and Katie met with the board of directors to talk about the future after a highly successful first year. This was followed by a two day workshop with some of the 50+ local makers that supply and sell their handmade products through this amazing co-op. Our visit was made possible by the Regional Arts Development Fund in partnership between... the Queensland government and Barcaldine Shire Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland. If you are passing through Barcaldine make sure you stop by the spotty shop! #barcaldine #radfqld #artsqueensland #RADF #ArtesianOriginals #handmade #supportlocal #buyfromthebush #outbackaustralia #regionalaustralia #regionalqueensland #visitqueensland #visitqld #exploreqld #queensland #resinhandmade #handmadewithlove #handmadesigns #dontquityourdreamjob #localcooperative #greynomadsaustralia #greynomadsintraining #roadtripaustralia #communityhub #mothersday #mothersdaygift #buylocalart #outbackartist
