23.01.2022 Forest, Land and water are our future. #RejectOmnibus Indonesia's new Omnibus Law is devastating. Omnibus jeopardises the lives of workers and first nations peoples alike across Indonesian controlled territories. No more minimum wages. No more requirement for developers to retain 30% of forest cover. Capital is now free to exploit, exploit, exploit ... until nothing is left. And we know the Indonesian police and military are intimately involved in all resource extractive industries in West Papua. In many cases the Generals run the companies involved. Demilitarisation and protecting living landscapes are different sides of the same coin. Resist Omnibus! #TolakOmnibus !

19.01.2022 The right to self determination: a democratic solution for West Papua. #makewestpapuasafe #westpapua #papuanlivesmatter

18.01.2022 According to Indonesian Corruption Watch the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) spent just under AUD$10 billion on social media in just 4 years. Part of what POLRI is doing is monitoring West Papuan activists. It is interesting to note that social media monitoring is one of the subjects taught by the Australian Federal Police at the Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation where over 20,000 Indonesian police have been trained. #MakeWestPapuaSafe https://nasional.tempo.co//icw-sebut-polisi-belanja-/full

18.01.2022 West Papua's Council of Churches has released a statement condemning 'Special Autonomy' as a pretext for an acute program of militarisation. The number of military and police bases in West Papua has doubled since Special Autonomy began in 2001. Benny Giay, head of the Council of Churches, says West Papua under Special Autonomy is effectively a 'Daerah Operasi Militer' or Military Operation Zone. 'This remilitarisation of West Papua is not to keep people safe, it is to guarantee access to our natural resources'. Indigenous Papuans continue to resist mining, palm oil and logging 'developments' at great personal risk. Will you stand with them? Join us to help #MakeWestPapuaSafe makewestpapuasafe.org

06.01.2022 Twiggy Forrest aka Fortescue Metals Group is planning to build a 20 gigawatt hydropower station in Mamberamo Raya. No development takes place in West Papua without the involvement of the Indonesian police and military. As they say in Indonesian ‘ada gula, ada semut’ (where there is sugar there are ants.) We support clean energy but we don't trust Twiggy. Traditional owners are opposed to the damming of their river. The power station is just phase one. Phase two will see major 'development' in Mamberamo Raya, including an international port. Why does Twiggy need a port? Digging and drilling = displacement, dispossession and death for First Nations peoples. Watch this space. #PapuanLivesMatter

03.01.2022 The last words spoken by Pastor Yeremia Zanambani before he died of gunshot wounds were "TNI must leave our village". The pastor identified his attackers as TNI soldiers to his wife and other witnesses before he died. Villagers have told a Papuan humanitarian team that Pastor Yeremiah spoke of peace, human rights and expressed his wish that no military base be built in Hidatipa. Where TNI go, violence follows. #Disarm #MakeWestPapuaSafe #PapuanLivesMatter

02.01.2022 1000 people have been arrested in Jakarta as workers across Indonesian-controlled territories rallied to reject new labour laws that strip worker rights and environmental protections. Water cannons, made by Korean company Daeji, were used against the people, along with tear gas and rubber bullets. Workers In West Papua are also rising in protest to reject the Omnibus law. #TolakOmnibus
