25.01.2022 Windows 10 - Should you upgrade? In short, sometimes it will work without issue, but sometimes it won't. Issues reported to me so far have been as follows. 1. PC would not boot and had to reset PC back to original factory settings containing windows 8. So going from Windows Win 8.1 to Win 10 resulted in going back to Win 8. 2. When upgrade completed, all the computers permissions for the main user were messed up. Could not print, open documents, and many other issues. ...3. Errors on startup complaining about graphics drivers. 4. PC started to ask for a user's password. The computer NEVER had a password so why a password was suddenly required. In addition, updates since the original release have reportedly not gone well. Some have been released and then withdrawn. Items like Solitaire now have to be rented monthly or yearly. If you use Windows Media Centre to run a TV Card etc, this is no longer part of windows. It stopped after Windows 7. See more

12.01.2022 ISP - Internet Service Provider Issues. Recently (November 5th-2015) a customer of mine (You know who you are) reported to me that their internet was very slow or slower than usual. I went onsite to do some diagnostics. I logged into their modem and noticed that their Line rate both for Download and upload were lower than expected. 11.01.2022 Recently have had two Bigpond customers contact me when their email suddenly stopped working. Apparently the settings that Bigpond needed to allow the outlook email program to send and receive email had to be changed. Why?? Going to contact Bigpond to find out why. Surely they would contact customer notifying them that these changes are going to have to be made. Apparently NOT!!
10.01.2022 NBN Speeds at a new client this week. Surprisingly slow for NBN which promised speeds around 100 mbps. Cable speeds normally between 32 and 80 or more. Adsl between 5 and 20 Mbps. A lot depends on your distance from the exchange. What speeds do you have? Check with www.speedtest.net and let me know.

04.01.2022 The NBN. Readings from a client I went to yesterday. They were forced to take up the NBN in their apartment complex in Mascot. If this is the speed (24 Mbps) the NBN offers then I am wondering where all the money has gone. It's better than ADSL but slower than CABLE 32mbps and up. Go figure!! Go to www.speedtest.net and click begin test. What numbers to you have?
