25.01.2022 Celebrating Sea Week SeaWeek is Australia’s national public awareness campaign to focus community awareness, provide information and encourage an appreciation of the sea. SeaWeek gives us a fantastic opportunity to promote educational issues of relevance to the marine environment. This year’s SeaWeek theme is the fifth Ocean Literacy principle: the sea supports a great diversity of life and ecosystems.... Our Preschoolers have been enjoying our Under the Sea set up, as their imagination, senses and creativity have sparked conversation and interest; The blue pebbles are the water, and the green pebbles are the seaweed Lots of turtles live in the ocean. If they look the same, they’re from the same family Lots of fishies live in the ocean too We need to put in more shells!

19.01.2022 Adding to our veggie patch Our children were recently so excited to see how well our potatoes grew in the garden! After weeks and weeks of watering and caring for them, they were ready to be picked and delivered to the kitchen before being added to our lunch. Yum! Last week we were ready to grow more!First we did our research to find out what else would grow best at this time of year, before deciding on some favourites, carrots and tomatoes. ... While planting our new seeds we revised what elements would be needed for them to grow; water and sunlight! We’re very proud of our clever little gardeners!

We cant wait to see your pictures, make sure you send them all in!
15.01.2022 We are excited to see some of our children beginning to return to our classrooms! Although many children settle back in with ease, after an extended absence from care, and a lot of extra time at home, many children will struggle with separation anxiety. This is a normal response, and should be met with compassion and love- the attached article has some strategies that might help. https://raisingchildren.net.au//common-/separation-anxiety
11.01.2022 As children return to formal schooling, we are expecting our classrooms to see familiar faces returning too. Please indicate your plans to return as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly! Thank you for continuing to keep children home if they are unwell, this supports our ability to continue to operate and provide a safe environment for all. We are reviewing our COVID-19 safety measures, currently all additional practices continue to be implemented daily. https://education.nsw.gov.au//nsw-students-return-to-the-c
11.01.2022 Our sister centre over at Narraweena posted this video today, and we just love it! It really shows how important it is for a child who is learning to walk to have plenty of time in bare feet in order to connect with their environment and better understand the world around them. We encourage our little ones here to play, climb and run in bare feet when its warm enough, if you have (or know) a little person who is learning to walk, keep this in mind! (and share it with any other parents too!)

10.01.2022 The children had a blast taking part in today’s dinosaur fossil dig! Our salt dough bones from yesterday’s experience made for fantastic fossils to excavate, explore and spark conversation. As they engaged in the dig the children discussed the different sizes, types and colours of dinosaurs that once roamed our Earth.

And don’t forget the ones who seem to have it all together, the view from outside isn’t always the truth. If you ever need an ear to listen, we are here for you!

01.01.2022 Creating with clay and natural materials! This week the Preschoolers had a discussion on natural materials and what sorts of resources we have in our centre, in our gardens, and in our homes. With the childrens’ interest shown through this, we decided to use our clay along with the natural loose parts the children had collected with their families to create faces and works of art throughout our playground. ... Our clever, artistic Preschoolers had a blast creating these, and were so proud of their efforts, admiring their works of art on completion
01.01.2022 Our natural outdoor space provides endless opportunities for children to learn, explore and engage with not only natural materials, but even animals! Our children love when the birds visit, and watch them closely as they fly up and perch themselves in the trees above us. To encourage more feathered friends to visit, the Explorer children created their very own bird feeder for the playground!
