23.01.2022 At Making A Difference, we do always encourage children to explore their environment using all their senses, we know climbing, walking, running and playing is always more fun in bare feet! Of course sometimes its a bit too cold for that here, but we love how perfectly this video demonstrates the difference between a child learning to walk in shoes and in socks only. If your little one is learning, keep this in mind! ... https://www.facebook.com/theurbanbarefoot/videos/411386899682996/

22.01.2022 Who remembers Marble Painting?! Well, it's still alive and happening at Making A Difference at Oceana Narraweena. We respond to each and every child's individual interest. Harper wanted to use the marbles in her creative play so Educator Emma came up with "Marble Painting". Harper proudly presented her painting! #northernbeachesmums #childrendevelopment #earlyyearseducation #earlychildhoodeducation #marblepainting #childrendevelopment

22.01.2022 Our Emergency Services are respected and valued and celebrated at our Centre. We are preparing some lovely artwork, cards and thank you messages for our local D...ee Why Fire Brigade to thank them as Essential Workers and on our local excursion next Monday to the Narraweena Post Office we will send them our thoughts and thank you's for all their amazing hard work as we purchase stamps and the children post their letters! We appreciate our local firies! We also practice our fire drills and lock down drills every three months and this week we are practicing lock down drills as last week we completed our fire drills. The children are absolute experts at both of these drills! See more

21.01.2022 Dear Everly and Rachael, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful, touching video with us. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the smiles of these little ones every day. Watching them grow into confident, happy young people is worth its weight in gold and its families like you that keep us smiling and growing everyday.

21.01.2022 What an amazing first day our lovely preschooler had! From making friends and buddies to having the confidence to play in her own space as well. Thanks to Rupinder for being such a great big buddy to our new friend! Welcome and we look forward to many more fantastic days ahead with you as part of our preschool family Hine.

20.01.2022 Explorers practicing literacy and letter recognition through puzzles and taking time out to chill in front of the cabin with a guitar and song. #literacymatters #myspace #earlychildhoodeducation #indepedentbabies

20.01.2022 Transport, construction and trains! Preschool offers all types of construction and building activities as the children grow older and learn patterns and sequencing and how to piece together objects to make meaning from them.

19.01.2022 Ask your friend or family member tomorrow "R U OK?" We have plenty of hugs to go around for everyone in our Nursery! Book a tour and meet our gorgeous children and Educators. We are one big family

18.01.2022 Nursery group times with Room Leader Sarbjeet and Assistant Educator Rani. The children love the sensory books to touch and feel and outdoor group time songs. All children are encouraged to participate and have fun! Sarbjeet has been with us for three years now, starting as studying Cert. 3 to Diploma Room Leader of our Nursery (0-2yrs) there is nothing Sarbjeet cannot cater for when it comes to our precious Nursery children. Sarbjeet is also a mum and understands how hard it can be to leave your child for the first time in care. Book a tour and come and meet her, you will not be disappointed!

18.01.2022 An important part of our Explorer childrens learning each day is hygiene and self-help skills. We love seeing the children embracing the correct procedure and practices taught by our Educators on how to wash and dry their hands before every meal time, during transitions and after toileting and nappy changes.

17.01.2022 Not too Tonka tough for a tea break! #childrendevelopment #roleplay #toddlerlife #northernbeachesmums

17.01.2022 Our preschoolers are fascinated by insects at the moment and our Early Childhood Teacher Saartje created this timeline for them to follow according to the insects they have investigated so far....

16.01.2022 Welcome to our newest preschooler! Participating in finger painting is just one of our preschool activities during the week. We have lots of siblings and extended family children making our centre just one big happy family! Our children adapt so quickly to our environment as it's just like a home away from home but with the quality education and care you would expect from a long day care centre. We encourage families to share their cultural and individual family backgrounds with us, so we can get to know you and you are not just a number. Welcome!

16.01.2022 No more to say but Christmas Tree Magic in preschool today. #christmas2020 #christmasiscoming #preschoolactivities #christmas

15.01.2022 Morning group time in the Explorers room involves stories and good morning songs. "Dear Zoo" is a popular story with the children at the moment. Its a fun book talking about animals you might see at the zoo. Puzzles allow children to use the cognitive side of their problem solving skills as well as the physical aspect by manipulating objects to see where they fit. Our Nursery children (almost two) are investigating ways to problem solve.

15.01.2022 Our Explorers are cared for and nurtured and encouraged to try new experiences on a daily basis. Using natural materials, experiences from home to kindy, we have such nurturing, loving educators as seen here with a beautiful moment caught between Room Leader Ellise and Ben blowing out birthday candles. We know our children so well and we value and pride ourselves on our trusting relationships. We encourage anyone looking for early childhood care to contact us to arrange a tour so we can show you just how much you and your children are valued each and every day.

15.01.2022 From reading to gross motor activity, we take each and every interest from the children and incorporate it into our curriculum working according to the Early Years Learning Framework. We have a flexible but structured program for our 0-3 yrs according to interest and ability. Every child is nurtured, protected and encouraged.

15.01.2022 Everyone is inclusive at our Centre. Ryoko (our permanent casual Educator) from Japan has amazing English and here she talks to the children about the book they are reading together. They children love Ryoko and she gives the love back.

15.01.2022 Trains are not just for boys! Practicing and extending on our fine motor skills as our Nursery girls put together a train track and practice threading, they are so proud of their own achievements and are given the space and time to progress through the activities in an unhurried manner which allows them to process their thoughts and with guidance achieve and extend on their own existing knowledge.

14.01.2022 Look at our preschoolers go! Name writing and literacy at its busiest! Alex may need assistance? Great job guys!

14.01.2022 Experiments of sinking and floating quickly turned to water play in our preschool today! Insects are also such a big topic right now and our little Harper brought in a grasshopper for everyone to see (it had been deceased for a while unfortunately).

14.01.2022 Learning new languages and Inclusion is a part of our everyday practice. Educator Emma in preschool is learning Tibetan language from our older preschool Tibetan child to help teach his younger cousin who has just joined us. We have guides from Diversity Kids as to the words to use in simple Tibetan to help include our new preschooler into the program and make him feel welcome and safe and secure.

14.01.2022 We have so many loveable characters in our preschool room!

14.01.2022 Look at our garden grow thanks to all the tender loving care the Nursery and Explorer children are giving the plants.

14.01.2022 So much to reflect on this year. The most valuable memories are of our children going on as normal, learning, living, celebrating and loving life everyday despite whats going on around them. Here are some happy snaps from birthdays to Gold Coin Fundraising Week P.J. week, to just some incredible friendships and bonds and activities. Book a tour today, you wont be disappointed in our dedicated team to ensure your children are learning whilst feeling like its their second home.

13.01.2022 With Christmas just around the corner our preschoolers are celebrating with a different Christmas craft activity every day. Using playdough and paint today our educator Emma helped the children create Christmas decorations as just one of today's fun activities.

13.01.2022 Our preschool children are so interested in bugs at the moment and our natural environment encourages bug searches! We found out more by using our smartboard to extend on the childrens interest in bugs of all shapes and sizes. Our children also love to practice writing their names and are very proud of their own individual achievements. Book a tour today to find out more about our preschool program and meet our amazing Educators and children.

12.01.2022 Preschool news is such an important part of the childrens day. Every child has a day that they are encouraged and supported to present their special news in front of the class. Today we extended on Levis news as he brought in a boomerang from home (dad specifically asked him not to throw it during his news time!) and we further extended this by dot painting a boomerang and talking about our traditional land owners.

12.01.2022 Wishing all our families the best for a safe and happy Christmas and New Year! We will be closed from 6pm tonight for our two week Christmas closure and re-open on the 4th of January at 7.30am. Once again take care over the holidays, spend it with your loved ones and friends and we look forward to a fresh New Year! From the Making A Difference at Oceana Team

12.01.2022 Sarbjeet our Nursery Team Leader engages the children in a morning group time which incorporates literacy and numeracy. The children love to be outdoors so we incorporate a lot of our Intentional Teaching moments outdoors as well as indoors when the weather allows. The children also enjoy a balanced and healthy meal plan which for morning tea this morning included crumpets with vegemite and fresh fruit and milk. (We also cater for every allergy, food preference and intolerances). Book a tour with our Nursery and Explorer Team Leaders today!

11.01.2022 Room Leader of the Nursery Sarbjeet is determined to ensure the children in Explorers and Nursery take responsibility and learn to care for their environments. Simple tasks such as watering the plants is such a fun way for the children to learn to look after living things. They also have fun with water play while the whether warms up.

11.01.2022 This little man patiently waited his turn to water the vegie garden. Our Nursery and Explorer children are now experts at looking after their little vegie patch thanks to Sarbjeet our Nursery Team Leader who has planted and nurtured the plants as well as the children since they were tiny. #Nurturing #plantsmakepeoplehappy #toddler #lookingafternature #growingup

10.01.2022 Learning our days of the week and months of the year in preschool each day encourages the childrens sequencing and prediction abilities. Emma ensures each child has a turn to share their current knowledge at our morning group time.

10.01.2022 We never tire of seeing the concentration and persistence of our older preschool children concentrating and persisting with new challenges in the form of numeracy skills. Numbers fascinate children, from asking how old their teachers are to practicing counting not only to ten but to 100! Our preschoolers have a natural inquisitiveness around numeracy which we extend on every day. #numeracy #numberrecognition #preschool

10.01.2022 They say a picture tells a thousand words! Happiness, delight, excitement and pure joy in the moment as the children bang away on buckets and shake the shaker. #fun #music #joyful #earlychildhoodeducation

10.01.2022 We loved receiving all of your messages yesterday for Early Childhood Educators Day, its really special for us to hear your kind words. This comment by our friend Ben really sums it all up for us Thank you for being teaching me that Ill be ok when my Mum leaves, thanks for teaching me how to share with my friends, thanks for teaching me to play games and paint pictures. But most of all thanks for making me feel special and safe and loved. Happy Early Childhood Educator...s Day. Love from Ben Its our pleasure Ben, thanks for being your wonderful self!!

09.01.2022 Increasing concentration and being mindful of the immediate surroundings is something we encourage in preschool with very hands on risk vs hazard activities. Of course we judge the risk versus the hazard and with close supervision children are able to stretch their existing knowledge from one setting to another. A couple of our preschool children mentioned that their dad's do this at home. Hammer and Nails was so popular every child (20 preschool children) had a chance to participate. #woodworking #woodwork #earlychildhoodeducation #concentrationinchildren

09.01.2022 A planned activity by our ECT/Room Leader so different today in our preschool room immediately attracted the childrens attention. Hammer and nails! Not just a typical experience, introduced by our Early Childhood Teacher Saartje. Saartje believes in risk versus hazard and with extremely close supervision and guidance she successfully implemented and introduced this amazing experience to the children today. Hammer and Nails enables the children to work together, take turns, follow instruction and create a new learning experience of their very own. Enjoy the photos, book a tour and meet our ECT Saartje, you wont be disappointed!

08.01.2022 Friday is "Friday Fun Day" as our centre combines into one for the day. Our siblings spend the day together and our Explorer and Preschool children love interacting with one another on this special day. Lots of dancing, games and learning! Today Asahi was showing us how he is learning Japanese. Asahi brought in his translator from home to show the children how he transfers language from his mums home country to his current cultural setting in Australia. Asahi will be well ve...rsed in two languages as he grows. We also had some beautiful portraits of Queens drawn by some of the children as our letter of the week is "Qq". Our lovely new Diploma educator Rushali will be working in the preschool room every Thursday and Friday and next week she will be displaying these beautiful portraits in frames for the children to admire and feel proud of their own achievements. 08.01.2022 Learning to live with other living creatures and respecting their habitats is a social awareness skill that we are currently teaching our preschool children. Here we practice gentle hands, compassion for other living things and learning about the world we live in.

08.01.2022 How amazing does our vegetable garden look now! Our tomatoes are almost red, our spinach is ready to pick! What a tremendous job our educators and children are doing at looking after our edible garden. #ediblegardening #northernbeachesmums #earlychildhoodeducation #sustainability

07.01.2022 From our Nursery to Explorers to Preschool our children are treated as if its their home away from home. If children are comfortable and feel like they belong they will thrive. Our philosophy proves this! Book a tour and visit us and we will show you the love we have for our children.

07.01.2022 Special news today all the way from France! Milas cousin recently went home to France as soon as they were allowed back home due to Covid. Today Mila shared some photos of her cousin Lula going to school in France. Mum and dad werent allowed in to the school to settle her in, many tears on drop off but a happy child on pick up. Thanks so much to Rosie for sharing and keeping in touch with us, we feel like a part of your French family.

07.01.2022 Our Explorer children (2-3 yrs) are learning so much from our lovely Team Leader Ellise! They have been reading "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and have taken on a learning journey about bugs, butterflies and caterpillars. Today the children painted their own interpretations of what they saw visually set out around them with familiar pictures from the storybook. The fun didnt end there! From more literacy to fine motor and cognitive activities the Explorers had another amazing day! Book a tour today and meet our lovely team and children from the Explorers room.

06.01.2022 We encourage not only our preschoolers to sign in and out just like mum and dad but all the children at the centre. We often have Explorer children (2-3 yrs) signing themselves in and out as they see their older siblings doing the same or the parents encouraging them to make their own mark on the page. Its amazing to watch the independence and autonomy of children at such a young age.

06.01.2022 This year, its more important than ever to check in on each other. Compassion and caring makes us all stronger together. Call your quiet friends, and your loud ones. Call your close friends, and your far ones. Call the ones with no time, and the ones with too much time on their hands. ... And dont forget the ones who seem to have it all together, the view from outside isnt always the truth. If you ever need an ear to listen, we are here for you!

05.01.2022 Its almost here... Early Childhood Educators Day is tomorrow! We cant thank our Educators enough, we think it should be every day that our Educators are appreciated and valued for how much they do for our community (lucky for them, our wonderful families and children do show appreciation often!) Here is a little message from some industry faces. ... https://youtu.be/GrmQW1s7KdE See more

05.01.2022 Watching our babies adapt and explore their environment is such an amazing journey as they investigate their surroundings. From soft and cuddly to perhaps noisy and scrunchy, everything they are exposed to plays a part in their development, learning and understanding of the world they live in. #babiesdevelopment #earlychildhoodeducation #infantdevelopment

03.01.2022 From dreaming of being a superhero, to a fairy princess living in a castle, to a little bit of "Possum Magic". Our preschoolers had a magical, fantasy day today...

01.01.2022 ITS EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS DAY! We are continually blown away by the hard work, commitment and passion that our team demonstrates. ... We know that we are having a huge impact on raising the next generation of children that will one day change the world, and thats a pretty important job! ALL Educators are amazing, and for today, and every day, we say, THANK YOU!

01.01.2022 Identity and belonging is such an important part of our values and philosophy at Making A Difference at Oceana. Every child is valued and recognised as individual and we work hard to ensure no child is missed in their education and development. Natalie the Centre Director is always available to answer any questions and ensure children are getting the absolute best care they can have. Natalie's door is always open!

01.01.2022 Learning empathy and care. Our educators scaffold our childrens existing knowledge. It starts from an idea to an activity to an extension on the childrens ideas to a complete learning experience. Our Nursery children are in good hands as our Team Leader Sarbjeet guides them every step of the way. From bathing to wrapping to soothing a baby, too cute not to share!
