24.01.2022 Our chocolate litter getting nice and chuncky

23.01.2022 Hormone testing for Jadite today, he met some boys he has never met before and passed his 6 month test after being bred. This is very good news for this line as he is second generation. He will be tested again at 12 months as well for Loa. We do this to ensure that you can just put you're new pet rat with your existing colony. Always ask breeders how they breed, what they look out for etc introducing new rats in neutral territory shouldn't be needed unless your rat come from ...unknown origins. Some signs of aggression issues may include bum bumping, excessive buck grease excreation, teeth chittering and scent marking excessively. Don't intervene or seperate the rats unless they are tussling, or one has drawn blood and make sure you don't just stick your hand In. The reason why you don't want to intervene with minor behaviors is it may stop after a few minutes. Feel free to ask questions See more

12.01.2022 If you purchase a rat from us, we would love for you to keep in touch and let us know how they are going. We cannot 100% guarantee the health or behavior of any... rat and any breeder that says they can is kidding themselves. What we can do is sit up and take notice when you contact us with good news or bad and use that information to move forward with our breeding program. Getting bad feedback, although it hurts, allows us to make decisions within our Rattery to make things better. We will never be dismissive of your concerns or claim that you are wrong, instead, we will offer our support and guidance and will ask others with more knowledge for their opinions in the hope that we can both help you, and make our rattery better. Even though we hold several rats back from our litters, it always helps to know how they are going in different environments. Breeders need to be open and honest about their lines, tell you where there may be issues. For me personally, I make sure people know that I’m still a new breeder so my lines are not as established as some other ratteries and I don’t have a long history of the rats I breed yet. I think I’m on the right path but future information is vital for me to improve, not only for myself but for my rats and the rats I make available to the public. See more

12.01.2022 HOW MUCH FOR A RAT? Let me say a few words, the person who writes an email or message to simply ask the price. The person who calls and after hearing a price su...rprisedly states: I can buy a cheaper rat elsewhere. I just want it as a pet. No rat is just a pet. Behind every rat is a BREEDER. I’m using capital letters to differentiate a breeder from a pet factory or mill. A reputable breeder does not breed rats without knowing the lineage. Records of lineage that document pairings and allow one to research any possible health issues present in that lineage. When you tell a Breeder you don’t care about the lineage/history what you’re really telling them is you couldn’t care less about the health of the rat you just want the cheapest thing you can find! When you select to buy a rat from a reputable and quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for the health of every rat; both rats owned and every rat they’ve sold for its lifetime. This breeder will skip holidays, miss sleeping, and most of their personal house space has been turned into space for their rats. The truly passionate breeder who loves what they breed, puts their whole heart and soul into it. Not only in rats that are sold, but also in each customer who owns a piece of their heart and now is a member of their extended family. This does not take into account any rat who might get sick or need extra help to thrive. Breeders worry about their babies after they leave and will take one back without question. A breeder will get their hands dirty because that’s what life is about...In the middle of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps turning. A breeder will do tests, have surgeries done, ultrasounds, emergency c sections, research pedigrees and parasite treat. Last but by no means least, a breeder CHOOSES the family lucky enough to have one of their babies. A true breeder chooses who they sell to because they are not making money off the sale. There is no compensation that can offset the investment a Breeder has made so they need to be confident its the right fit. Many times saying more no’s then yes...A good Breeder will have different criteria for those wanting to carry on their bloodline, why? Because breeding is not a responsibility to ever be taken lightly, it’s a lifestyle choice set aside for ONLY the few devoted people willing to sacrifice. Because a rat is never just a pet it’s the Breeder’s legacy, a little boy’s best friend, a little girls protector, a persons therapy, a member of the family, someone’s whole world.

11.01.2022 Please share these #toptips with anyone you know who is considering adopting a pet rodent for the first time! #1 - Consider WHY you want a rodent companion in... your life! Rodents of all species are amazing creatures, but they also require commitment. For example, if the rodent is being adopted for a child, strongly consider whether or not this is a wise decision. Ultimately, the rodent/s will be full responsibility of the parents, and if you are not prepared to fully commit to caring for this animal for the rest of its life even if your child loses interest, then rodent ownership is not for you. #2 - Research the species thoroughly before adopting. This is VERY important. All rodent species require different housing and diet. Many require a LOT more space than we are lead to believe. Some are social, some are solitary. Their behaviour and body language can vary. Signs of pain and illness are important to identify... and so on! Remember, you are going to be responsible for the health and welfare of this animal for the rest of their life. #3 - Understand that your experience of rodent ownership may not go as expected, and plan ahead. For example, you may adopt a rodent that is poorly socialised, or one who requires many vet bills. They may not smell the way you’d hoped, they may not be active when you are, they may be disinterested in handling. Can you/will you commit to caring for this animal despite these hurdles? Of course, I do not wish to put people off adopting rodents as I know there are many out there who are in need of loving homes! But please, be prepared. Ensure you are ready and are adopting for the right reasons. This way, the experience will be better for everyone involved. #therodentnurse

09.01.2022 If I could share one piece of media with every rat breeder/rescue/person in the country, it would probably be this. https://www.ted.com//worklife_with_adam_gra...nt_how_to_love_ If I were a breeder, I would want as MUCH feedback about my rats as possible, the good, but ESPECIALLY the bad! Why? Because that's what it means to care more about actually doing a good job, than you do about being SEEN to be doing a good job. "Hey just a heads up this rat popped out with tumours at 1 year." "Yo these guys are really rat aggressive." "Your patchworks have really thick eyelids, looks like entropion developing, have you considered not releasing them yet?" "Your cages look super dirty in your FB posts, I reckon you'd get a better response if you scrubbed them up or took pics with better lighting!" These conversations are worth their weight in gold for people who prioritise their animals over whatever ego driven public persona bullshit they've got going on in their heads. Listen to that video, and ask yourself: How much pride do you take in your work, versus your image? Is it so bad to be humble? Should we be saying 'thank you' when people care enough to give us time out of their day to give us opportunities to improve? In my opinion, and more importantly in practice: Hell yes. I'm constantly telling people I thrive on constructive criticism, and I value the people who are comfortable giving it, you help me be a better person. So to those who care enough to give and take feedback: Thank you! You make the community better. To those who don't... Look into the psychology of why it's so hard, and challenge yourself to try and see things another way.

If you're interested in adopting a male or a few please send us a message. Please note these are rescue rats and not bred by us and therefore we know nothing about their genetic health or temperament and do not wish for these animals to be bred. Located in kuraby, QLD

05.01.2022 Ok so, I don't make posts like this unless I absolutely have to. We at happy Little Accidents Mousery have sold to Waterford Pet and Feed Barn in Logan city in ...the past. We have now, after recent happenings no longer feel comfortable selling our animals to or purchasing any product from this store or franchise ever again. Their attitude to education and change around the health and well-being of rodents has put a bad taste in my mouth. They are willingly selling 3-4 week old High White Patchwork rats with terrible entropion and malnutrition. They have been informed of the risks surrounding the condition and have also been guided to resources and organizations that are willing to help them. But even after all this they have done nothing to change the food the rodents are fed (seed diet) after they have said they would, as well as continuing to purchase/take in pregnant sick patchworks to sell the babies before they are even properly weened. None of this is hearsay, this is just what i have seen in person and what i have personally asked them to change and as have my friends. Please be aware of where you are purchasing supplies or rodents from and either purchase directly from a breeder or rescue you have done research on. Remember the little guys don't have a voice its up to us to speak for them.

Must pick up from the front door day after making a bank deposit 4. The tub will be disenfected so please have something covering your mouth and nose and wear gloves i...f you have access to them 5. Please bring your own box, carrier or cage 6. If you are sick whether it is covid-19 or a little snuffle please do not arrange to purchase mice We may have to permanently stop selling to the public if covid-19 continues to spread at a rapid rate.
