25.01.2022 Next week in the Mama Village we are talking about sleep. Its always a very popular topic for mums because sleep deprivation kills us, and we always want to work how how we can achieve more! At Making Mama we are gentle, responsive mothers, so we will talk about the effects of crying it out on babies, as well as tips for helping your baby sleep more (and getting more yourself). At the end of the day, if more sleep for you isnt possible, sometimes its just nice to be with... other like minded mums who know EXACTLY what it feels like to be so so tired. If you would like to attend, please RSVP in the Facebook Event. Numbers are restricted due to the space available at the venue for safe social distancing due to COVID.

25.01.2022 Aww this is so lovely! What lengths have you gone to to fulfill your pregnancy cravings? #foodbringsconnection #makingmama #village #support #mothers #babies #toddlers #kids #socialworker #counselling #workshops #mothersgroups

25.01.2022 What are you doing to make yourself happy today?

24.01.2022 I absolutely love this! Young children do not have the mental capacity to manipulate us with their behaviour. Their behaviour is all about seeking connection with us! #makingmama #mothers #mothersgroups #babies #village #attachmentparenting #responsiveparents

22.01.2022 Who came up with the sleeping like a baby phrase? I dont want to sleep like a baby, Id rather sleep like my husband!

17.01.2022 Trigger warning: pregnancy loss I have never experienced pregnancy loss, but I did have a threatened miscarriage where I lost a huge blood clot and bled afterwards. I remember that heartwrenching cry as I called to my husband from the toilet. I remember being curled in the feotal position on the couch, sobbing. I remember sitting in the obstetrician's office, surrounded by beautiful pregnant women, while I quietly sobbed, thinking it was the end. I remember seeing the obstetr...ician and telling her I thought I was miscarrying, and being in shock when she said the baby was fine. My sister had only had a miscarriage a few months beforehand. I had held her in the middle of the night when we were staying together and had bumped into one another going to the toilet. She had sobbed in my arms before I put her back to bed. I had worked in a maternity hospital and had supported women going through miscarriages and stillbirths. Along with so many things in motherhood, this is one subject we must talk about. For something that happens to 1 in 3 women, we must normalise and support those mothers. We owe it to the other mothers to hold them while they grieve. Your babies matter. They existed. Your feelings and grief matter. https://www.facebook.com/222279674577710/posts/1864527467019581/

16.01.2022 Whats on in the Mama Village tomorrow morning? Infant feeding! We talk breastfeeding, mixed feeding and formula feeding. Baby feeding and sleep are probably two of the biggest issues we face as mums, and it often brings tears, feelings of failure, feelings of judgment from others, receiving conflicting information from everyone and everywhere about how to do things and what the right thing to do is. ... Join me to unpack all the emotions and your own personal journey around feeding your baby. If youve had a really positive experience, we want to hear from you! If youve struggled, we will wrap our arms of supoort around you. Meet other mums, form connections, build your village. Stop feeling alone.

15.01.2022 Trigger warning: pregnancy loss and stillbirth After working with many bereaved mothers and families in a maternity hospital where their babies were kept in the morgue between visits, this is brilliant. https://www.facebook.com/1103406766348737/posts/3379021012120623/

14.01.2022 This looks amazing. You might like to check it out!

13.01.2022 We talked about sleep in the Mama Village this morning. We covered the effects of control crying/cry it out, sleep cycles for babies, different sleeping arrangements for different families and tips on getting more sleep. I saw this image tonight and it made me chuckle given how many mums talked about bed sharing with their babies. #makingmama #village #support #mothers #babies #toddlers #mothersgroups #socialworker #counselling #workshops #sleep

13.01.2022 We will talk a lot about this on Monday in the Mama Village. Its biologically normal for babies and toddlers to wake at night. #makingmama #village #support #mothers #babies #toddlers #mothersgroups #socialworker #counselling #workshops #sleep

11.01.2022 Ive just finished a two week facilitators course for the Circle of Security Program which is an attachment parenting program for parents with the primary premise being connection to help children manage their emotions, rather than focusing on behaviour management/punishment. It is absolutely this! #makingmama #village #support #mothers #babies #toddlers #mothersgroups #socialworker #counselling #workshops #circleofsecurityprogram #COSP

10.01.2022 To all the mums in Melbourne, I see you. https://www.facebook.com/307325942680703/posts/3194586063954662/ #makingmama #village #support #mothers #babies #toddlers #mothersgroups #socialworker #counselling #workshops #covid #underpressure

10.01.2022 Have you thought about joining the Mama Village? Wed love to have you! Next week our theme is "Breastfeeding, Mixed Feeding or Formula Feeding". We will cover everything from the first breastfeed, the challenges with breastfeeding that many mums face, what makes mums decide to stop breastfeeding earlier than they had planned, mixed feeding (breastfeeding AND formula feeding) and the challenges of only providing formula. It will be a lot! Throughout it all we will be myth bus...ting and discussing evidenced based practice around infant feeding. This topic is not so much about HOW to feed, but rather, how you FEEL about the process you have been through, and any challenges you might have had. #makingmama #village #support #mothers #babies #toddlers #mothersgroups #socialworker #counselling #workshops #breastfeeding #mixedfeeding #supplementarynursingsystem #fingerfeeding

08.01.2022 I cannot agree more wholeheartedly!

07.01.2022 Its Fathers Day today in Australia. Wishing all the families a lovely day of celebration, especially if its the first Fathers Day for your family. Its special. Thinking of all the families without a dad. If today is a hard day for you, I see you. My kids are 12 and 10 and love celebrating their dad. They were creative this year with home made gifts.

05.01.2022 Id love for mums to be remembered.

04.01.2022 Children are more likely to behave in positive ways when they feel secure in their emotional connectiveness and safe in our love. #makingmama #village #support #mothers #babies #toddlers #mothersgroups #socialworker #counselling #workshops #responsiveparenting #attachmentparenting

04.01.2022 I was listening to the radio this morning and this question was asked and people started calling in. The one that made me laugh out loud, was that the pregnant mum desperately wanted to buy an extremely expensive pram (much to the husbands dislike!). She ordered it online, and when it arrived, they discovered that it wouldnt fit in the boot of the car. So their solution: they bought a new car! #makingmama #village #support #mothers #babies #toddlers #mothersgroups #socialworker #counselling #workshops #babystuff #prams

03.01.2022 I couldnt have said this better! Your baby doesnt realise shes a separate person from you until close to 12 months of age. Understanding that will help you understand her behaviour. #makingmama #village #support #mothers #babies #toddlers #mothersgroups #socialworker #counselling #workshops

02.01.2022 "What is wrong with this family?" She deserves a medal for how calm she stays. I can see other kids flipping out because their video is ruined by family. https://herviewfromhome.com/funny-dad-video/
