25.01.2022 Hi to everyone who cares about our Koalas! Call To Action - the NSW govt are trying to shove through legislation to make sure that all our remaining Koalas will go extinct. They must not do this! We must protest. Please call and email the MPs listed below, this week starting TOMORROW!!!... The Bill is called the "Local Land Services Amendment (Miscellaneous) Bill 2020" - sounds innocent, but it is DEADLY for our Koalas. Thank you for taking action!!!

25.01.2022 Today I rescued a small cicada from a spider's web, and photographed it sitting on a blade of grass. Does anyone know what sort it is?

25.01.2022 I hadn't heard about this - a new methane biogas plant at the Sewage Treatment Plant on Malabar Headland. This article is more than 4 months old. Please read and contact us or your local State MP Michael Daley if you have any concerns about this. Please share.

19.01.2022 So there was yet another Rave Party on the Headland last night, this time in the WWII tunnels. In these times of COVID there's a limit on social gatherings, so the police intervened. The story made International Media!! The UK Daily Mail printed the story with photos of the Watch Tower and the tunnels: https://www.dailymail.co.uk//COVID-19-restrictions-breache... I think we will have to talk to NPWS about locking the gates at night, as they leave a great deal of rubbish behind. It wouldn't be so bad if they took it with them, I mean, they brought it in, so why don't they take it out? Also, it seems that this is becoming entrenched behaviour, in which case, why don't the police turn up on Saturday night and stop them setting up in the first place?

18.01.2022 Time to participate in a little bit of "Citizen Science" - report the birds you see in your backyard next week. That's it - really simple. This project runs every year. I usually participate. We used to have lots of little birds - wrens, willy wagtails, bulbuls, robins, pardalotes; then we got a new neighbour who feeds the birds every afternoon with bread and minced meat. All the local bully birds moved in: Currawongs, Noisy Minors and Indian Mynas. No more little birds now. A great shame.

18.01.2022 Our local underwater wonders on display at Bare Island.

13.01.2022 We had a huge amount of fun in the bush yesterday - we found a new infestation of bitou, lantana & pampas (our 3 Big Weeds). We set to with all sorts of tools to dig them out. It was perfect weather - warm but not hot, and low humidity. The Spring flowers continue to come out - last week and this week the Leptospermum is in full bloom (Tea-tree), and abuzz with bees making honey; also this week the Melaleuca nodosa is magnificent - if you want to see this, get yourself out there, it doesn't last long! (aka "prickly-leaved paperbark"). Enjoy!

13.01.2022 A great chunk of cliff has broken away at Magic Pt - probably happened around Christmas time? Did anyone see it happen? Was it in one of the big storms when there was a big surf? It has halved the size of the platform where the WWII Northern Searchlight Bunker is!... Be careful if you go there, there's a lot of new surface cracks in the rocks.

11.01.2022 The phone was ringing all day with journos wanting FoMH's opinion on the latest rave party on Malabar Headland - apparently there was another one last Saturday night. Has anyone any news, posts, gossip, photos, knowledge of this? Thanks!

10.01.2022 A Blue Whale filmed off Maroubra Beach!! The largest creature that has ever lived on earth. Aren't we lucky?

09.01.2022 Do a virtual bushwalk and wildflower ID in the Western Section, with Dan our man at Randwick City Council's bush care unit. Enjoy!

09.01.2022 Has anyone got any photos of today's burn in MHNP Western Section? I can't bear to go and see it.

06.01.2022 Another post for today: great news about the Gamay Rangers, looking after Country!

04.01.2022 Koalas are in dire straits - see previous post and take action this week!!! However, here's some good news: we have a pair of Peregrine Falcons who live on the cliffs of MH. Last year they raised 3 babies; so far this year we have one. A man named David Noble regularly goes out to Boora Pt to photograph them. Here's a link to his blog, and here's a photo of the latest baby Peregrine!!!... Enjoy! (But Don't forget to take action for Koalas!!) http://www.david-noble.net/blog/?p=48153

01.01.2022 Did you know this? Long Bay on the southern side of Malabar Headland has a intertidal no collecting zone - illegal to take shellfish, octopus and sea urchins close to shore.

01.01.2022 It's definitely going ahead, I was there today, all the fire hoses are laid out everywhere.
