20.01.2022 A true North Queensland tradition.... Torimba Festival #athertoninfo #torimba

19.01.2022 Further to our post about the Tree kangaroo ... the Tree Kangaroo and Mammal Group have placed signs on both sides of the bridge at Malanda Falls. It is up to us drivers to identify these signs and slow down for our wildlife!

17.01.2022 We were contacted by one of the wildlife carers today to inform us that at 5.30am today one of the Malanda Falls resident male tree-kangaroos has been hit by a car and passed away from his injuries. Please slow down and be aware of our wildlife especially in the dark. I know it's hard to see sometimes, but we all need to drive with care. This is an archive picture and not the deceased animal!

17.01.2022 We all love a relaxing day at Malanda Falls... Mum and baby Green Possums resting until dinner time

15.01.2022 Please find an alternative route than the Gillies Highway until it reopens

14.01.2022 A great museum to visit for the history of this area...

13.01.2022 Have you had your picture taken with the new sign at Malanda Falls? This was a project from the Malanda Chamber of Commerce and is very popular with visitors. Remember to hashtag your pictures and share them to our Facebook page #malanda #malandafalls

09.01.2022 Listen out for animals moving through the dead leaves Pademelons - gubaa are easy to spot now. This rainforest macropod can be seen in forest clearings or feeding on the grass behind the visitor centre in the late afternoon. It is very shy though, often giving a warning thump to other pademelons as it hops away. Thylogale stigmatica

05.01.2022 Malanda markets are on this Saturday morning. Come on down and buy our local produce and crafts.

04.01.2022 The Tree Kangaroo and Mammal group have placed signs on each side of the Malanda Falls bridge to advise motorist to slow down for our wildlife. Please point these signs out to family and friends so they are aware of our wildlife as they drive through the Atherton Tablelands.

03.01.2022 The Tree-kangaroos have been exceptionally active this past week. We have seen them on both sides of the visitor center so please slow down to protect our wildlife as it crosses the road. #athertoninfo #malandafalls #treekangaroos

02.01.2022 So what are those two animals in the trees? We are lucky enough to be visited by two Tree-kangaroos today. They were very high in the canopy, and hard to get a picture of so we have used an archive photo....

01.01.2022 A large Cassowary has just been sighted on Hitchconole Road at Tarzali. This is the first time one has been sighted out there since Cyclone Larry. Please take care of our wildlife... and drive carefully. ... Photo from archive not the same Cassowary.
