25.01.2022 Thanks to all our community members who supported the first annual Super Santa Fun Run. What a great turn out!!



24.01.2022 Last weekend we were represented by Malanda resident and St Stephens Catholic College student Aarin Ryan at the Lions Youth of the Year Zone finals. The impromptu speeches incleded: 1) 'Should we be called the Atherton Tablelands or the Cairns Hinterland?' and 2) 'What human quality do we need more of in this world?' Additionally, Aarin spoke about the butterfly effect and the importance of decision making in her prepared sppech. Aarin did a fantastic job and earned the Public Speaking award. Well done Aarin!

24.01.2022 A reminder that the Malanda Markets are on Saturday morning the 20th of June at the Malanda Showgrounds. There will be special protocols in place including sanitiser stations, increased cleaning of the toilet block and maintaining social distancing. If you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms or are feeling unwell, please stay home. If you would like to book a stall head over to our Malanda Markets Facebook page. We always have room for more stallholders and we now also have the option of booking indoor stalls in the pavilion.

24.01.2022 The Lions had their dinner meeting tonight at the Malanda Hotel. We were joined by special guests Michael MacLaren, 2nd Vice District and Caninet Secretary, and Lion Max Tavasci.we were also joined by Lioness Dale Roger Jones.

15.01.2022 Hi everyone Malanda markets have to vacate the show grounds for June market due to the change of show dates. This market will be held at the Anne Street reserve between the kindy and scout hut so come and see all your favourite stalls here.We will be back in the show grounds for July. We do apologise for the late notice but this has been beyond our control. We ask that you share this information as much as possible. Thank you for your understanding. Family and pet friendly event. Complimentary Santa hat and photos with Santa with registration. See the flyer for more details. Hope to.see you all there. 13.01.2022 We would like to announce that this year's recipient of the Malanda Lions Community Bursary was Malanda High School year 11 student, and MSHS 2021 School Captain, Nikki Brown. Congratulations to Nikki and well done to all of the outstanding students who applied for this year's bursary. 13.01.2022 We had our final Malanda Markets day of 2020 on Saturday 19 December. There were some fantastic products on offer. See you all again in 2021!

12.01.2022 Along with our famous sausage sizzle and egg and bacon rolls, we debuted homemade hot apple pies this weekend at the Malanda Markets. We also had a special visit from Shane Knuth MP.

09.01.2022 These are the Malanda High School Students who applied for this year's Malanda Lions Community Bursary. They underwent an application and interview process. The winner will be announced on 16 November. Well done to these outstanding young people, and good luck! 08.01.2022 Last night we had our Lions Youth of the Year competition. We woukd like to congratulate the following students on their fantastic efforts and courage in their interviews and the public speaking competition: from StStepens Catholic College, Sophie Schrale; and from Malanda State High School, Georgie Millar, Jade Pengelly, Nikki Brown, Sahara Gobius and Matthew English. Matthew won the Public Speaking Award and Sahara won the Overall Award advancing her to the Zone Final in Mareeba on 13 March. Thank you also to our three judges- Amanda Albon, Councillor Dave Bilney and Gill Harrington- for volunteering their time to work with the students.

02.01.2022 Thank you to everyone for a great turnout at the Malanda Markets today! It was great to see the community buzzing. Hope to see everyone, and some sunny weather, next month. The Malanda Markets are on the third Saturday of every month. If you would like to book a stall phone Ronny on the Markets phone at 0439702657, or turn up on the morning and we will assign you a stall. We also now have a number of indoor stalls available for booking.

02.01.2022 A few weeks ago, Malanda State High School had thier annual Presentation evening and our President Cade Blakesley was lucky enough to pass a check to our 2018 Malanda Lions Community Bursary recipient, year 12 student, Kynan Gobius. And, the 2019 Malanda Lions Community Bursary recipient was announced as year 11 student, Catherine English. Both students are exemplary and are to be commended on thier efforts both in the school and in their wider community.
