25.01.2022 Please report any Tree-Kangaroo deaths or sightings so we can track the good, the bad, and the ugly ... and get a better understanding of these beautiful creatures. Pictures shared of Tree-Kangaroo visits are even better

23.01.2022 The Tree kangaroos have been exceptionally active this past week. We have seen them on both sides of the visitor center - so please slow down to protect our wildlife as it crosses the road. #athertoninfo #malandafalls #treekangaroos

23.01.2022 A large Cassowary has just been sighted on Hitchconole Road at Tarzali. This is the first time one has been sighted out there since Cyclone Larry. Please take care of our wildlife... and drive carefully. ... Photo from archive not the same Cassowary.

22.01.2022 Have you ever swum in a volcanic crater? Here on the Atherton Tablelands there are two that are very popular - Lake Barrine and Lake Eacham. They also have wonderful nature walks around them.. a great way to enjoy nature!

22.01.2022 We were contacted by one of the wildlife carers today to inform us that at 5.30am today one of the Malanda Falls resident male tree-kangaroos has been hit by a car and passed away from his injuries. Please slow down and be aware of our wildlife especially in the dark. I know it's hard to see sometimes, but we all need to drive with care. This is an archive picture and not the deceased animal!

22.01.2022 A true North Queensland tradition.... Torimba Festival #athertoninfo #torimba

21.01.2022 The Tree-kangaroos have been exceptionally active this past week. We have seen them on both sides of the visitor center so please slow down to protect our wildlife as it crosses the road. #athertoninfo #malandafalls #treekangaroos

21.01.2022 The Malanda Falls area is closed for a few hours today as the concrete is poured for the repairs. Please take note of signals thank you. #malandafalls #athertoninfo ... #rainforest #safetyfirst See more

21.01.2022 Our beautiful part of the world....

20.01.2022 Opposite the visitor centre on the rainforest edge the native clematis is fruiting - wind-borne seeds with fluffy plumes. In other parts of Australia similar species are used medicinally the leaves are crushed and aromas inhaled. Another vine, monkey rope (jibaa), is producing long pods containing other similar airborne seeds. Clematis pickeringii, Parsonsia straminea

20.01.2022 We are well on the way to have the repairs finalised.

20.01.2022 This is a wonderful traditional country market - with amazing fresh produce and local crafts.... so come on and enjoy a day on the Tablelands

20.01.2022 Today is National Threatened Species Day - a time to think about the beautiful and unique animals we have in this wonderful part of Australia - and the rest of the world. Be kind and look after our wildlife so our children can show their children and so on..... Have a good day!

19.01.2022 Listen out for animals moving through the dead leaves Pademelons - gubaa are easy to spot now. This rainforest macropod can be seen in forest clearings or feeding on the grass behind the visitor centre in the late afternoon. It is very shy though, often giving a warning thump to other pademelons as it hops away. Thylogale stigmatica

17.01.2022 Have you seen the start of the life of a Black Bean tree? The picture shows you from pod to seedling! Remember that a lot of rainforest plants and their fruits and nuts are toxic so look but don't touch!

16.01.2022 This week in the Malanda Falls Conservation Park we have seen ... Platypus on the Rainforest Walk, Tree-kangaroo on the Tulip Oak walk, Turtles at both viewing platforms and our local Kookaburra is still hanging out on the veranda. I wonder what will be seen over the long weekend?

13.01.2022 This lovely waterfall is Ellinjaa Falls on the waterfall circuit near Millaa Millaa. It’s a lovely way to spend the morning, and then pop into Millaa Millaa for a snack or coffee from one of the coffee shops or the pub. #athertoninfo #waterfalls #millaamillaa #tropicalnorthqueensland #holidayathome #waterfalls

13.01.2022 A must see on the Atherton Tablelands.

12.01.2022 What rainforest fruit have you seen? There are a lot of flowering plants in the Malanda Falls Conservation Park at present, so come for a walk and let us know what you plants you see! Just remember that some rainforest fruit can be toxic!

12.01.2022 In the far top corner of the rainforest walk (other side of road) the peachy looking poisonous fruit of shrub Fontain’s Blushwood will follow the flowers that are now covering the forest floor. This understory tree, only found on the Atherton Tablelands, has important anti-cancer properties currently undergoing testing by a Yungaburra company.

12.01.2022 Sunset across the Atherton Tablelands #athertoninfo #athertontablelands #malanda #tropicalnorthqueensland #visitqueensland

11.01.2022 The Tree Kangaroo and Mammal group have placed signs on each side of the Malanda Falls bridge to advise motorist to slow down for our wildlife. Please point these signs out to family and friends so they are aware of our wildlife as they drive through the Atherton Tablelands.

10.01.2022 Further to our post about the Tree kangaroo ... the Tree Kangaroo and Mammal Group have placed signs on both sides of the bridge at Malanda Falls. It is up to us drivers to identify these signs and slow down for our wildlife!

03.01.2022 So what are those two animals in the trees? We are lucky enough to be visited by two Tree-kangaroos today. They were very high in the canopy, and hard to get a picture of so we have used an archive photo....

03.01.2022 You may not be able to swim in the waterfall pool just yet - but you can still view it from the second tier level. The Ulysses butterflies are a vivid splash of blue against the green canopy as well. #athertoninfo #athertontablelands #rainforestwalks #malandafalls
