23.01.2022 This year the Australian Federal Government committed $20 million dollars to regional agricultural shows and initiated the Regional Agricultural Shows Development Grants. The Malanda Show Society is extremely pleased to announce that we have been successful and will be receiving $69,550. This funding will be used to complete a total of four sub-projects including general repairs and maintenance to the horse stables, a dairy cattle shed and improve the livestock wash bay fac...ilities. The more exciting project involves installing a handrail and staircase to the rooftop of the Stage 2 Facility (canteen and bar building). This fourth sub-project will be executed in conjunction with the Malanda Bull Ride Committee. This pavilion on our showgrounds is utilised by many groups throughout the year including the Malanda Junior Rugby League Club and the Malanda Bull Ride Committee and we believe this will be a wonderful asset for these groups. This cash injection is greatly appreciated and will go a long way to maintaining some of the facility on our showgrounds. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Tablelands Regional Council both the staff and Councillors and Councillor David Bilney for the ongoing support and commitment to this community facility. You may have noticed the recent upgrades to the lighting on the showgrounds and there has also been some much-needed power facility upgrades. There will also be some other improvements in the coming months. Our showgrounds are looking wonderful and both council staff and community volunteers have been working tireless. THANK YOU!
23.01.2022 2021 - . 25-27th of June 2021... The Malanda Show will move forward a week in 2021 due to a scheduling clash with the Townsville Show. To avoid disadvantaging exhibitors, show rides, sideshow alley and other itinerants that we love, the change was a necessity. This change will mean that the Show will be hosted on the FIRST weekend of the June School Holidays. In relation to the COVID-19 pandemic the situation will continue to be monitored and appropriate safety measures will be in place. #malandashow #malandashow2021 #showmensguild #queenslandagshows

20.01.2022 , , , : With the rapidly changing environment and the uncertainty in the current crisis Malanda Show Society will pause all planning of the Malanda Show and the Show Ball. As our Government continues to update the information, we will notify you of subsequent changes. Our Scheduled Dates were: Malanda Show Ball 22nd June... Malanda Show 3rd 5th July. What we can advise is that the Malanda Show will not be hosted in July this year. We will explore all other options before making a final decision to either cancel or postpone or deliver events/competitions at a later date in a different capacity. If current restrictions are relaxed and there is an opportunity to host an event and or a ball later in the year this is an option we will consider. The Beef Cattle Handling School schedule for the 15-17th of May has been cancelled and the participating schools and independent students will be notified. Reimbursements will be issued for those who have made payment. Our Management team will be in touch with all stakeholders (chief stewards, sponsors and itinerants) in the coming weeks to discuss the arrangements with each event. We are also abiding by the advice to practice social distancing, and we will cease all committee meetings until further notice. Our office hours will be altered over the coming weeks and months. Kate Stokes, our manager, will now be available by mobile phone, email or Facebook message. Please leave a message on the phone as Kate will be available outside general work hours and will return your call as soon as possible. During this challenging time we thank you for your patience and our heart goes out to The Showmens Guild of Australasia, entertainment businesses, food vendors and itinerants who have now had an instant halt in their income. We will certainly be considering how we can support them moving forward. Whilst we are all battling the difficulties ahead we would like to thank everyone for their support and patience and we will supply necessary information as it becomes available to us. , - @. 0447 965 000 Greg: 0427 951 041 (if necessary) #theshowmustgoon #2020MalandaShow See more
19.01.2022 With the rapidly changing environment and the uncertainty in the current crisis and after MUCH DELIBERATION the Malanda Show Society has made the difficult decision to CANCEL the 2020 Malanda Show. If current restrictions are relaxed and there is an opportunity to host a ball later in the year this is an option we will consider. Planning has now commenced for the 2021 Show Season and we are working closely with our governing Agricultural Show Association to ensure we comply ...with all health regulations moving forward. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our stakeholders (chief stewards, sponsors and itinerants) for their continued support and encouragement throughout this situation. As we move forward with our plans for 2021 we will personally contact all our existing sponsors to thank them for their support and effectively roll over their current financial support to 2021. During this challenging time we thank you for your patience and our heart goes out to The Showmens Guild of Australasia, entertainment businesses, food vendors and itinerants who have had an instant halt to their income. 12.01.2022 Malanda Show Grounds Cattle Yard Transit Centre Update The Malanda Show Society has a LARGE UNDERCOVER CATTLE YARD FACILITY, located on the bottom side of the showgrounds. The Malanda Show Society extends the invite for all cattlemen and truck drivers to utilise our yard facilities for transit purpose or cattle sales. Yard Facilities: ... - 2 loading ramps including a side loading ramp designed for B-Doubles accessibility - Sale ring and Auctioneering Platform - Three-way Draft Yard - Cattle Crush (available on request) - 38 Individual Yards with Water Troughs in 27 yards - Lighting throughout the yards. These yards are currently accessible to individuals and groups all year round however we ask for honesty and expect all the necessary paperwork and payment to be completed in a timely manner. As a Show Society as per the Biosecurity Guidelines we are required to document all NLIS through our Transit Centre, hence why we ask for the paperwork provided to be completed within 24 hours. Transit Centre paperwork can be downloaded from our website or collected on site. Essential information required includes, PIC numbers for BOTH source and destination, number of cattle, date of transit and an NVD Way Bill number. Once fully completed paperwork then needs to be submitted to our management as soon as possible along with payment. Yard Fees: $2 per beast per day (with minimum charge of $25). Examples: 5 Head - $25 10 Head - $25 20 Head - $40 The contributions of funds we request ensures that this facility is maintained and upgraded regularly. In recent years thousands of dollars has been spent to ensure the facilities are safe and functional for both cattle sales and private users. We also ask that if you intend to use the yards please simply phone and leave a message or send a text message to the Malanda Show mobile phone- 0447 965 000. When you phone to book water will be made available in the appropriate number of yards. Paperwork can be sent to this phone as well if required or emailed to [email protected]. We ask that you notify us as our groundsmen volunteer their time to clean the yards after each use. We are always looking for helpers who may be willing to volunteer some time occasionally to help out with this job. Unfortunately, in recent years we have had several incidents, where users have clearly disregarded our request by either avoiding making payment or failed to complete the paperwork. If this continues the Show Society may be forced to withdraw access and lock the yards, which will be extremely disappointing. Because this facility is unattended security cameras will be installed for the safety of the general public and livestock. This facility is a huge asset to our community, and we hope that it can remain accessible to locals and truck drivers moving up the coast. We would like to encourage everyone to use them when required but urge you to please comply with the requests.
