While the Cash Ban Bill has only been pushed off this years agenda, we have shown the government and Labor that there is no appetite in the community to ban cash transactions.... 21.01.2022 IGA - Aussie owned sales increase by 50% This week I stopped in and chatted to Rob Outridge, the owner of the IGA supermarket in Maleny. When the COVID19 crisis first hit, Rob picked up from his customers that they wanted clearer indications of what products were Australian made and which were locally grown.... In response, Rob introduced 'Australian Owned' and 'Locally Owned' wobblers and sales on Aussie products have INCREASED OVER 50%. He has since shared his idea with other IGA's around Australia and they are adopting his concept. Congratulations Rob.

I enjoyed catching up with locals at the Solander Lake Bowls Club and the Yellow Brick Cafe in Bongaree. I am now enjoying some Rosie's chicken for lunch, a new business opening today in Bongaree. Bureaucrats in air-conditioned offices in Brisbane have drawn an imaginary line though Owen's property.... On one side he has the freedom to manage his property as he see fit. Since the 1970s, Owen has been selectively harvesting trees on this side of his property as a secondary source of income. On the other side of this imaginary line, Owen need permission from those bureaucrats to remove a single tree. Most farmers can't be bothered jumping through the hoops of an applications so they forgo the productive capacity of their land. Bureaucrats then use this unproductive farmland as carbon credits to meet the UN's Kyoto Protocol. The stealing of private property to meet the UN's Kyoto Protocol was instigated by John Howard's Liberal party.

14.01.2022 Yesterday I visited strawberry, raspberry and blueberry farms in Elimbah which is just north of Caboolture. Coco & Sons strawberry farm is a whopping 50 acres. Both were incredible businesses, professionally run and contribute to their communities and the economy of our State. These farms usually employ pickers who are backpackers or seasonal visa holders from the pacific islands like Vanuatu.... Neither farm can find enough Australians willing to work so there is always a struggle to find enough workers. Unfortunately COVID19 restrictions has meant that their usual workforce is unable to enter Australia or Queensland so they will likely lose 50% of their crops this year. Devastating. With so many Queenslanders out of work due to COVID19, we must find a way to convince Australians the value in a good days work and the enjoyment of working in the great outdoors.

09.01.2022 The Queensland State Upper House (the House of Review) was abolished by the Labor party back in 1922. What this means is that who ever forms government can ram through legislation without an Upper House review. 03.01.2022 Owen Thompson is a cattle and timber farmer near Tiaro Queensland. Since the 1970s, Owen has been selectively harvesting trees on his own property as a secondary source of income. Trees are a crop that he carefully manages to ensure that he has a future income in the bad years. ... The very definition of sustainable farming. When cattle prices are low or drought means feed is expensive, he will harvest some trees to make ends meet. When cattle prices are high and there is plenty of feed for stock, the trees are left to mature and new trees grow. Queensland vegetation laws now classify selectively harvesting as clearing and is bureaucratically controlled from Brisbane. An application to harvest a single tree is classified as land clearing and the hurdles have become too difficult to jump. Dan McDonald, a farmer who was convicted and fined for feeding his cattle vegetation (mulga) on his own property is seeking interest in a class action that would force the Queensland State government to compensate farmers who have lost rights to use their own land and vegetation.
