All Queenslanders are encouraged to get the flu vaccine as it's the best protection against the flu.

22.01.2022 Community transmission means contact tracing cannot identify the source of the infection. For example, someone in the community has COVID-19 but has not been in... contact with another confirmed case. In Queensland, the majority of our cases are linked to overseas travel or another confirmed case. But we are seeing a couple of small clusters in Cairns and the Gold Coast, that are being thoroughly investigated. This doesn’t change our health advice. Every Queenslander, regardless of where they live, should stay at home as much as possible; keep 1.5 metres away from others; avoid shaking hands, kissing or hugging others; and if you can, work from home. At this stage, if you need to self-quarantine because you are a close contact, you will be contacted by a public health unit. A public health alert will be issued for an area if there is an outbreak. At this stage there are no outbreaks in Queensland.
20.01.2022 Hey Queensland, we're investing $250 million to get non-urgent surgeries and appointments back on track. As part of our COVID-19 response, around 50% of non-urg...ent procedures were postponed. This helped us to ensure our hospitals were ready to respond to the pandemic. While urgent elective surgeries continued, many non-urgent patients had their surgeries put on hold . There was also an impact on outpatient appointments and referrals. Because of this new investment, and the all of the hard work Queenslanders put in to help us flatten the curve, we can now work towards getting non-urgent surgeries and appointments back to pre-COVID levels. We will be working over and above our usual levels of activity, and in partnership with the private sector. It may take up to 12 months to clear the backlog, but could be longer if we have further disruption to our system, such as a second wave of COVID-19 cases. Queenslanders who have had to wait for non-urgent procedures will be contacted directly by their hospital. If you have questions about your care, it’s important to speak to your treating physician.

Staying mindful of this habit can help stop the spread of germs. 08.01.2022 UPDATED HEALTH ADVICE To help prevent any further spread of COVID-19, Queenslanders must minimise the number of people they come into contact with. O...nly leave your home if it’s absolutely necessary. You can do so with members of your household or with one other person who is not a member of your household. Permitted reasons to leave your home are listed below. For a residence or household, the number of people allowed to gather in that house is limited to the usual members of that household, plus two other visitors who are family or close friends. We strongly urge people aged over 70, anybody over 65 with a chronic disease, and Indigenous people over 50 to stay at home for their own protection. You are now only allowed to leave your home if absolutely necessary for the following permitted reasons. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in a fine up to $1,330 for individuals and $6,670 for corporations. > To obtain essential goods and services > Receive medical treatment or health care services > Exercise > Do work or volunteering that is essential and cannot be done from home (this is any type of work that is not restricted under the latest ‘non-essential business activity and undertaking closure’ direction) > Visit another person’s home, as long as there are no more than 2 visitors who do not usually live there > Visit a terminally ill relative or attend a funeral > Assist, care for or support immediate family members > Attend a Court or tribunal or comply with a Court or tribunal order > Attend a childcare facility, school, university, or other educational institution to receive instruction that is not possible to receive at home > Assist with an investigation by police or other law enforcement authority > All shared custody arrangements of children under 18 years of age, whether informal or court-ordered, can continue as normal. You are allowed to leave home to take children from one parent’s home to the other parent’s home > To avoid illness, injury or the risk of harm > To comply with directions of a government agency.

05.01.2022 The Australian Government has expanded Medicare-subsidised telehealth services for all Australians. This expansion to telehealth means that people will now have... access to essential health services in their home. This will support self-isolation and quarantine policies to reduce the risk of exposure and spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and will also help vulnerable doctors to continue to deliver services. We encourage Queenslanders to talk to their regular general practitioner about whether telehealth is an appropriate option for them. We've listed some of the available services below
