Thank you, Kerri Leddin, for dropping in to give us the book. We can't wait to explore all that it has to offer. We certainly live in a magical part of the world.

23.01.2022 'Relationships between students and teachers at school are important. They predict students motivation, performance, and expectations of future relationships.' Care, kindness and humour - these are the aspects that are most important in building a positive relationship, according to the study. At MIS, we have a clear focus on building positive relationships. We don't have a behaviour management plan, but we do have a positive relationships plan. This, in combination with a commitment to personalised learning, places the learner at the centre of all we do.

23.01.2022 Excited to see an article about us in the local paper!

22.01.2022 SCHOOL CAMP IS BACK ON! We'll finally be able to go on our school camp next term and we cannot wait. Camp offers a fantastic opportunity to connect, build community cohesion, immerse ourselves in nature, have fun and engage in a bunch of real-world learning opportunities. How fortunate are we to be spending four days on Moreton Island. We're crossing everything that we won't have to postpone it again.

22.01.2022 Vale Sir Ken Robinson. Sir Ken Robinson was an inspirational leader advocating for a learning revolution. To me it's about radically personalising education. Personalised learning is at the heart of all we do at MIS. Much of what he shared with the world aligns with our approach at MIS. He made an enormous contribution to the world and will be greatly missed.

21.01.2022 Monday 4 May is the Labour Day public holiday, which means no scheduled home-based learning.

21.01.2022 Congratulations, Debbie Rossow, who received The Rotary's 'Pride of Workmanship' Award last night. Debbie was nominated for her outstanding contribution to learning support at our school. We're so grateful for Debbie's commitment to identifying each learner's literacy and numeracy strengths and gaps then supporting them to grow.

21.01.2022 Monday 13 July we're back for Term 3! We've got some exciting things planned for this term and we can't wait to share them with you.

19.01.2022 Tuckshop resumes tomorrow. Don't forget to get your orders in by 9am.

18.01.2022 We look forward to welcoming back our learners on Monday 25 May. It will be wonderful to connect in person and return to onsite learning.

18.01.2022 Thank you, Sam, for sharing your amazing knowledge about computer hardware with us. It's fascinating to discover what's inside and how it all works to create a very useful tool. A big thanks to Kirsty for bringing in the computer from hard rubbish for Sam to use. What is rubbish to one person is treasure for another!

15.01.2022 A reminder that next Friday, 29 May, is a public holiday even though the Maleny Show has been cancelled.

13.01.2022 We'd love to see you there!

12.01.2022 Personalised learning is at the centre of all we do. We invest time and energy in understanding who each learner is - their strengths, challenges, goals and learning style. We then work alongside them to ensure they progress on their learning journey in a way that is meaningful to them. Thank you, Sir Ken, for all that you contributed to the world in this most important of areas.

09.01.2022 Maggie Dent's article is spot on. What kids need now are connection, calmness and cohesion. We will continue to make our way through the curriculum and support everyone's learning journey. However, this cannot be done at the expense of the other three Cs. At MIS, we have integrated lots of opportunities for connection and cohesion during our first week back onsite. There's been a BBQ, movie with popcorn, card games, walks around our town and so much more. Our learners have be...en excited and energised returning to school and once again being able to socialise with friends. So, there wasn't a lot of calmness this first week back I must say! We will certainly be bringing in those opportunities to slow down, reflect and breathe over these coming weeks. Social and emotional wellbeing has to be a priority at this time. Thank you, Maggie, for your wise words.

06.01.2022 PEER-TO-PEER LEARNING IN ACTION Today we were fortunate enough to learn a lot about black holes when a new learner that joined us Monday did an impromptu presentation. Absolutely fascinating! Baxter took the initiative and crafted his whiteboard presentation and then took us on a journey of discovery through the cosmos. What a beautiful example of peer-to-peer learning <3 Thank you, Baxter, for sharing your passion of astronomy with us! We are so grateful to have you in our school community now.

04.01.2022 Celebration time! Our first learner officially commences his school-based apprenticeship today. The contract was signed and it's all systems go for Noah, a Year 9 learner. It's important to offer and support a diversity of pathways. Thank you to the fabulous ZO&CO. Cakes and more for this magnificent creation. Thank you also to his fabulous mum and dad that are supporting Noah on his unique learning journey.

01.01.2022 SUCCESS: No Bake Cooking This afternoon we made sushi and fruit salad and everyone enjoyed the fruits of their labour! Healthy snacks to feed those young bodies and brains and support real learning. We're looking forward to doing No Bake Cooking each Thursday afternoon until the end of term.
