23.01.2022 Hi everyone, Welcome to today’s e-service (Holy Communion) which was recorded at Palmwoods. And thank you to all who helped and participated. The songs I have included today are all from a Zimbabwe a cappella group: Amor Music Ministry. I think that they are special, but then I do disclose that I am biased! 19.01.2022 Hi everyone, Welcome to this week’s cuppa conversation. It is literally at the centre of our town and community: The Maleny Community Centre. The accompanying YOUTUBE video of the song Hot Gates, written by Christ Torr was originally sung by his wife Laurika Rauch (seen at the beginning of the video). The Libertas Choir have however made it distinct. This particular version was recorded during the COVID-pandemic during lockdown in South Africa. In light of the terror and othe...r wars presently experienced across the world I thought it apt. Social capital and cohesion starts in the local community!! Something which the world, including us is desperately in need of it! So let us give thanks for the centres like the Maleny Community Centre and take ownership of the Hinterland Hub of Hope. 19.01.2022 Today was Harvest Thanksgiving Festival at the Blackall Range UC! We are being continually blessed with so many gifts from our heavenly Father, and today we wanted to honour Him with our harvest. We celebrated and expressed our thanks to Him by bringing along our personal harvest of produce, plants, flowers and craft. How blessed are we?!!

18.01.2022 Hi everyone, Greetings from the Synod. Mmm, although I am generally not a supporter of e-meetings and less so of e-meetings of a particular nature such as a synod, I need to applaud the work, effort and time gone into arranging and bringing the e-synod meeting.... I am fortunate, that as a member of the facilitation team, I get to see the detailed feedback of the small groups, so in a way I am able to get a sense of a broader mood across the synod, and not simply the narrow view of a computer screen! The normal worship services will be on tomorrow: 8:15 Montville 9:45 Maleny 3.00pm Palmwoods I do however also share the link to the new moderator, Andrew Gunton’s s induction service that took place on Thursday evening, and encourage you to watch it. (It was originally planned to form part of the Palmwoods’ Spring Harvest Festival but with COVID the date and place have moved on but it will be no less joyful and celebratory). See you there! 06.01.2022 Hi everyone, Trust we have survived the heat and are enjoying some rain. This week’s cuppa conversation is slightly different. It is a series of video clips. And once again, thank you to Stuart for putting it all together!!!... The first and third is about the Montville Mob, or more accurately members from Montville with some help of members from Maleny & Palmwoods setting up the Christmas Display at Montville Uniting Church. I encourage you to go and view it and spend some in reflection and meditation. The cuppa conversation also includes a serious reflection from myself about the 16 days of international activism against gender-based violence which runs from the 25th November to 10 December. My emotions in this time are mixed I feel both joy and sadness. Thomas Merton calls this spiritual dualism we can actually feel both joy and sadness at the same time neither one emotion is exclusive of the other. Particularly during Advent I feel great joy in singing Christmas carols, seeing symbols of Christmas and happiness, yet at the same time I am strongly reminded of the darkness in life: violence, corruption, suffering, The music video however ends on a high note: The Ndlovu Youth Choir singing their rendition of Whitney Houston’s Higher Love during the 2019 AGT Semi-Finals. The blessing of being able to have chaplains in schools is remarkable and needs to be cherished!
