16.01.2022 Coinciding with local farmers’ hay baling season, children at Mallee Minors have been busy baling hay. They created balers using reels from the loose parts trolley and attaching them to their bikes. This interest was extended by providing the children with real hay. They enjoyed raking the hay, baling the hay and then transporting the bales using trucks in their imaginative play with peers. What a messy, fun experience!

15.01.2022 The ‘Buloke Girls Can’ at Green Lake this morning moving through yoga poses with Averyl, listening to two inspirational young women discuss their experiences wi...th positive body image and self-confidence with lots of take home messages and finishing up chatting over a scrumptious lunch provided by Steph Kelly. Both Chloe and Ash had in their speeches this saying by Rupi Kaur which is a powerful message so have included it here. More details of the event will be in this weeks Times Ensign but feel free to talk to either girl about their experiences. I want to apologise to all the women I have called pretty before I have called them intelligent or brave. I am sorry I made it sound as though something as simple as what you are born with is the most you have to be proud of when your spirit has crushed mountains. From now on I will say things like you are resilient or you are extraordinary. Not because I don’t think you are pretty but because you are so much more than that. See more

14.01.2022 During extreme heat, whether it’s one hot day or a heatwave, remember: Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty (if your doctor normally limits your fluids, check how much to drink during hot weather).

Visit your health worker or GP every six to 12 months for an asthma review even if you have no symptoms, it is a designated time to review your asthma and your medications with your doctor. 04.01.2022 Ophthalmologists and optometrists are seeing a worrying increase in the number of people cancelling eye injections out of fear of attending medical services due to confusion around COVID-19. Patients with wet (neovascular) age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD) or diabetic macula edemea (DME) are skipping crucial appointments. Without regular treatment, there’s a high risk these people could go blind or suffer significant vision loss, which is often irreversible. Eye injections are essential medical treatment and need to continue as scheduled. If you’re worried about attending MTHCS clinics, please call ahead and talk to us about what extra protocols are in place and what precautions you can take.
