They came to Australia in 1955 but I don’t remember having one as a kid, it was bread on the end of a long fork in front of the open fire or under the old gas grill. I seriously can’t remember my mum and I having a toaster....

20.01.2022 And the journey begins..... this is your life in boxes.... well for us this is not one but 2 businesses in boxes..... we had a 3rd business but sold it recently.... thank goodness our there be a lot lot more big equipment... the removalists rolled their eyes when they saw this lot.... they'll be back next Monday for the house stuff which isn't anywhere near as daunting as the shed..... lol

18.01.2022 Couldn’t get to see a house we were ready to almost buy but because of the lockdown in SA we couldn’t see it as planned last Friday....I have been chasing the agent everyday since only to be told by text he has a contract on it.....why would you accept a contract when 2 other parties were interested and couldn’t get to see it until this week? Why would you not want to present ALL offers to your vendor....just glad he’s not my agent....he’d be fired! Now I’m going to sulk until I feel better.....word to the wise.....don’t mess with me today...it won’t be pretty....I’ve already sent him (the agent) a very cutting and truthful email.....certainly won’t be buying anything off of him.

10.01.2022 Darrens been baking again. These, in his cookbook, are called Thalia’s Grandmas biscuits.....he used to work with Thalia many years ago and loved the biscuits she brought in. I think they’re actually rock cakes.....lol but they’re very yummy regardless.

05.01.2022 How about making small ‘swaps’ in your shopping to support Australian products, grown, packed and sold by Australian families and businesses.....doesn’t take much. We use Red island olive oil and usually buy a couple of litres when they are on special.....last time I think they were $8 each....

Probably just as well as we’re having a HUGE garage sale on Saturday and I was wondering where I was going to find extra time to do everything......time now found....plus I love the idea of not having to wake up at 4.45am

03.01.2022 I’m looking for this book. Pronto by Elmore Leonard, it’s the first in a series that I’d like to read. As you can see it’s a book of many covers.... But the SA libraries do not have it (they have all the others).... if you have one, I’d love to borrow or buy it or if you happen to be in a secondhand book store could you keep an eye out? They seem like hens teeth but it was only written back in the early 1990’s so I don’t understand. Ta

03.01.2022 Come and visit us next Sunday at the Mannum Riverside Markets....always a great day, plenty of variety in the stalls and food, take a ride on the riverboat or walk the street visiting other Mannum businesses.
