25.01.2022 With increased temperatures and winds today (Thursday 19th) and HIGH Fire Danger any burning off should be postponed. Remember to check old burnoffs and be fire safe. When conditions improve remember to monitor your burn, clear around it(mineral earth break), have sufficient water on hand and check with council re permits. Register it with VICFIRE on 1800668511.

24.01.2022 The Fire Danger Period will commence in the Macedon Ranges Shire at 1.00am on Monday 14th December 2020 and Mt Alexander a week earlier on the 7th. For more information on what you can and can't do during the upcoming Fire Danger Period please visit: https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrictions/can With increased winds and temperatures today we ask that you avoid burning off and check old burns.

24.01.2022 The weather is starting to warm up so it's time for us all to start preparing our properties and ourselves for the fire season. This video gives us some timely reminders. If you are planning to light any fires to burn off as part of your preparations -- even small fires -- please register your burnoff on the notification line on 1800 668 511. That way we at the brigade won't get called out to false alarms because someone was concerned about the smoke.

22.01.2022 Macedon Ranges Shire Council have lifted the burning off restrictions for the month of October 2020 for land less than 4,000 square metres (one acre). When burning off, remember the following: You must not cause a nuisance to neighbours... Register your burn off by calling 1800 668 511 Monitor weather conditions, especially wind Never leave a burn unattended Monitor burn for at least 7 days after extinguished Burning off grass, stubble, weeds, undergrowth or other vegetation is generally permitted outside the Fire Danger Period. Consider disposal at your local landfill or in your usual green waste, mulching or, if you’re allowed, you may be able to burn off before summer. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/pla/how-to-prepare-your-property

22.01.2022 SUPPORT TWO OF MALMSBURY,s FINEST! Today is the last day of the Firefighter Stairclimb! Malmsbury crew consisting of Ashley and Rowena have climbed a grand total of 11,468! 22.01.2022 Victoria is one of the most fire prone areas in the world. If you live near areas that have significant bush, forest or long grass, then you need to plan ahead for the fire season. A written and preferably well-practised plan will help you remember what needs to be done during a crisis.

21.01.2022 Even though tomorrow is not a Total Fire Ban in Central we recommend avoiding burning off and checking old burn offs due to increased winds and temperatures.

20.01.2022 We now recommend smoke detectors for every bedroom.

08.01.2022 Understanding Warnings and Emergency Information You should never wait to receive an official warning before you leave. Fires can start quickly and threaten homes and lives within minutes. Understand the levels of warnings and don’t expect warnings to be issued in any particular order. The first warning you may get could be an Emergency Warning. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrict/about-warnings
