24.01.2022 New turf laid 2 months ago , had 2 hand mow it as it was too wet for the ride on and getting to long . Will look great in spring time

09.01.2022 ? Many people think that in the lead up to winter they can just let the garden go, and worry about it in Spring. That couldn’t be farther from the truth! Now, before Winter really sets in, there are a few really important things you should do. LAWNS you need to prepare the lawns now to reduce winter weeds, like Creeping Oxalis, and ensure your lawns are healthy and well fed to survive winter without too much damage and keep them looking great...! To do this a good quality combination fertiliser and pre-emergent herbicide is a great start, but if your lawn is compacted and hasn’t been aerated properly in a while consider doing this first. The other important thing, if you mow your own lawns yourself, is to set the mower to a slightly taller cutting height. In winter as grass growth slows you need the blades of grass to be a little longer to ensure sufficient surface exists to maintain healthy growth with lower sunlight and cooler temperatures. If you need help, we can prepare and maintain your garden in the lead up to winter and throughout the year. HEDGES Time is running out to perform that final trim of your hedges before the cold sets in and winter hits us. In general, Hedges should be trimmed after they have bloomed, and for non-flowering varieties, such as Buxus, trimming every 2 months in growth periods is strongly recommended. For all hedges if they haven’t been trimmed recently now is the time to get them fed and trimmed to set them up for survival in winter and great growth in spring. BULBS We’ve had an unusually warm autumn so far, but now as it starts to cool down it’s time to plant your bulbs ready for a beautiful spring garden. If you love Tulips, Daffodils or Hyacinth, decide on that spot in the garden that has either full or partial sun, prepare the soil by weeding and adding some well composted cow or chicken manure. Dig holes the depth of a typical garden spade and plant your bulbs of choice. Remember though: Bulbs need free draining soil and will rot if they get soggy Don’t plant too closely, leave at least twice the width of the bulb as the gap between adjacent ones Mark their location and cover with a quality mulch Water regularly to keep the soil moist, but not too often - you want to prevent rot Need help in your garden - contact us now, we're here to help!
