25.01.2022 Today we farewelled six of our little treasures. They have gone to live with a lovely family who are repeat buyers here at Malurus. We know they will be loved and adored.

25.01.2022 Malurus Century Celebration, aka Ruby, turns 2 years old today.

24.01.2022 These goats are lovely and bred by a highly experienced breeder. They would make excellent mini milkers.

24.01.2022 Who says goats hate water? Well, me usually! Two of our little girls have gone to a lovely home on the coast and enjoy a daily walk along with their owner’s dogs. They have decided to swim along with the dogs.

21.01.2022 The twins are loving their new jumpers. Thanks Helen Evans.

20.01.2022 Two of my absolute favourites here at Malurus Miniature Goats, Malurus Rose-Marie P25 and Malurus Abracadabra P75. These girls are coming up to their second birthdays and will hopefully have babies of their own later in the year. Rosie is 43cm and Abbey is not quite 40 cm. So much character packed into tiny packages.

19.01.2022 We are so thankful for having these two gorgeous Pygmy does join our herd. Vino Amore Athena and Ophelia have joined us from the Mid North Coast of NSW. It means that we now have four bloodlines of Pygmy goats at Malurus Miniature Goats. We are excited to watch them grow and to see them have beautiful babies of their own in years to come. Thank you so much to Sue Jenkins for entrusting us with these little darlings. They are adored.

19.01.2022 Just a few of my favourites

18.01.2022 Inara’s gorgeous pigeon pair from last night, Darby and Sari

17.01.2022 We will be keeping a close eye on this pair of bucks born last night to see how they develop before considering wethering them. Born to our stunning Australian Miniature Shelties, Malurus Disco and Australian Champion Bundaller Lightning Jack, so far these boys seem pretty perfect. Of course they needed disco names. Emily has named them Malurus Funky Town (caramel) and Malurus Boogie Wonderland (grey).

15.01.2022 I’m impressed with this chunky pair of boys born this afternoon to Malurus Princess Aura and Malurus Bossanova Casanova P43.5. Despite their low percentage, Prince Caspian and Prince Dakkar have loads of Pygmy characteristics.

15.01.2022 I’m getting a few requests for the knitted jumpers we are using for our babies this winter so I thought I would share the pattern. It is based on the one designed for lambs in the Coonabarabran Times but I have made it smaller to fit our tiny mini and Pygmy babies. You can make it smaller again by using smaller needles. It is made from 8 ply acrylic yarn and 6 mm needles. The front of the jumper is shorter to try to prevent the boys from wetting it as they urinate. On particu...larly small babies, the bottom of the jumper can be folded up and it seems to stay in place. The babies are able to move easily in these jumpers. Just throw them in the washing machine to wash them. Cast on 32 stitches Double rib (k2, p2) for 12 rows Stocking stitch (alternating rows of knit and purl) for 20 rows Cast on 8 more stitches at the start of the next two rows Double rib 11 rows Neck opening: Double rib 12 stitches, Bind off 24, Double rib 12 Double rib 12, cast on 24 stitches, double rib 12 Continue double rib for 14 more rows Bind off 8 stitches at the start of the next 2 rows Stocking stitch 10 rows Double rib 5 rows Bind off all stitches Use yarn and a needle to hand sew the sides, leaving the arm holes open. Happy knitting everyone

13.01.2022 Zelda is ready for school today. She even has her Savernake school uniform on.

13.01.2022 Things have been pretty hectic here the last few days and I haven’t had time to update our baby pics. We currently have 29 beautiful bubs and all are fit and healthy. 16 / 13 Like the rest of 2020, our kidding this year hasn’t gone to plan. As we are a large stud, I take great care to stagger our kidding over the year, to work out who will breed with who, who needs a rest and who to retire. The boys were willing and able from January but the girls just were not interested ...this year for many months. Then they all decided to come into season on the same day! It was all too much for one of our young lads and he went to death defying lengths to manage to scale the 2.4 metre fences around the buck pens. He is certainly a virile boy as he managed to successfully serve several girls during his hour escape. Luckily, everyone kidded easily and we have got some real stunners. It just goes to show that you can never be too careful with buck housing. This little girl is a keeper. Her name is Georgia (Malurus Midnight Train to Georgia). She is out of Malurus Soul Music and Malurus Leroy. See more

11.01.2022 Some of Leroy’s babies.

11.01.2022 We still have a few Australian miniature wethers looking for their forever homes. Located near Cobram, Victoria. Message us for more information. These boys are disbudded, vaccinated, wormed, desexed and weaned. They will be registered with MGBA.

09.01.2022 They say, Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get. That quote is certainly true for this buck, Malurus Leroy. Apart from his excellent conformation and good grade, one of the main reasons for deciding to keep this boy as a buck was that he was a culmination of four of our favourite lines. He combined all of their good points. He has a broad chest, strong neck, good legs, excellent top line, tight pixie ears and, as a bonus, blue eyes. He also ha...s great colour behind him like blue roan, red and black and brown Swiss with frosted ears and muzzles. Genetics are so interesting. This boy has thrown everything from his heritage through his kids this kidding. Heaps of blue eyes, a rainbow of colours and different ear types. We even got our first elf or gopher eared goat. That gene has been lying dormant in our herd for five to six generations. See more

08.01.2022 Evening playtime for Malurus Skip-a-Beat and Malurus Southern Charm. These two little balls on legs are only around 30 cm high at 8 months old.

08.01.2022 Another of Emily’s girls had a beautiful girl of her own and she instantly became part of her goat family. This one really loves a snuggle. Malurus Demona, born to Malurus B’Elanna and Australian Champion Bundaller Lightning Jack.

07.01.2022 Introducing Malurus Jean Genie. Born last night at Day 153 to Serendipity Denim and Lace and Malurus Leroy. This little blue-eyed blue roan wonder is a strong little girl.

07.01.2022 A great way to start the day with the birth of Malurus Sway P50. Such a strong, chunky little girl. Born to Malurus Swing P25 and Malurus Alakazam P75.

06.01.2022 Sing it everyone, We are family... Malurus Disco and her family, including her human mum, Emily.

06.01.2022 More baby spam. Kirk and Preston are already out in the sun playing in their new kidding pen. Still waiting for the wood chip to arrive so it won’t get muddy.

05.01.2022 I am so in love with this tiny little girl. She has so much spunk. What she lacks in stature she makes up for in attitude. Malurus Hot Tamale (Marley) and her twin brother, Malurus Jalapeño (Hal), out of Malurus Salsa P25 and Silverfern Barratt P25.

03.01.2022 Twin does for Minilee Sarina and Motown last night

03.01.2022 The run of boys continued last night with another set of twin boys born to Malurus Millicent and Malurus Leroy. Great news for all those people patiently waiting on wethers to join their families. This pair of cuties are Malurus Jaffa Cake and Malurus Bluestone.

03.01.2022 Yesterday we welcomed Malurus Riverina Bluebell into the world. Born to Silverfern Katy Perry, our first goat and herd boss, and Malurus Leroy. This little girl is a delight and doted on by her mum. It has been a long night for poor Katy. She went into labour just after lunchtime and quickly delivered this little girl then passed the afterbirth. Katy always has triplets and, whilst she didn’t seem in any discomfort, just couldn’t settle. Early this morning, after bouncing her to feel for extra kids, I decided to give her an internal examination. I could feel at least one more kid. We got veterinary assistance this morning to remove a still born kid and another mummified kid. Luckily, Katy has this beautiful little lady to love.

03.01.2022 I’ve been looking for different ways to use up our glut of goats milk and this caramel recipe is a winner. Three litres of milk and four cups of sugar in the slow cooker for a day and a half. Then I stirred through a bit of butter and vanilla paste towards the end. Next time I will make it salted caramel. Just the thing for the sweet tooth in the family for Christmas. P.S. Fresh goats milk makes the frothiest milkshakes.

02.01.2022 We have been busy playing match maker over the past month. Can’t wait to see this year’s babies as they start arriving in August and September.

02.01.2022 A pigeon pair of 53.125% Pygmies for Kawinkidink Knockout and Malurus Bossanova Casanova yesterday. The grey boy is Malurus Southern Comfort and the black girl is Malurus Southern Charm.

01.01.2022 Malurus Glimmer and Malurus Sir Spot-a-lot. A spectacular pigeon pair for Evie and Leroy this morning. White spots for the girl (and blue eyes) and brown spots for the boy.
