24.01.2022 Did someone say long weekend ? It has been a long weekend for many SES units and Malvern unit weren’t spared from strong gusty winds today. A large section of this beautiful Moreton Bay Fig tree separated and caused significant damage to this property in Glen Iris and sadly for the owner, they had only moved back into their home 2 weeks ago after significant repairs from the large January storm event in our area.

24.01.2022 Another busy day with a further 48 requests for assistance coming in. We have had multiple SES crews out today and we have 6 crews out tonight. So far Malvern SES have received 1105 tasks since Sunday afternoon and we currently have 38 active tasks to deal with. Along with SES crews today, we had assistance from 3 MFB (Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade) crews as well as their specialist team of drone pilots giving us a hand with RIAs (Rapid impact assessments) making the... task of assessing roof damage much quicker and safer than SES crews deploying ladders and our roof top safety system when the weather isnt great. This is another example of Victorias emergency service partners working as one to make our communities safer when storms impact our communities. #WeWorkAsOne #SaferCommunitiesTogether

23.01.2022 Please stay safe and call 132 500 if you need our assistance or 000 if a life threatening emergency

22.01.2022 Well be proudly on display this Sunday 1st March at the annual Glenferrie Festival. Hope to see you there!

22.01.2022 Mother Nature hasnt quite finished with us yet. There will be strong and gusty winds in Melbourne for most of today. Please check your yards and make sure anything that can take flight in strong winds has been secured. Stay safe and if you need the SES, contact us on 132500.

22.01.2022 Training tonight was an exercise in searching a local park and surrounds for a missing boy and his dog. Charlie Brown (the boy) and his dog (Snoopy) were found safe and well.

22.01.2022 Another busy day for SES volunteers in our area today and were really happy the sun has finally reappeared. In total Malvern has received 990 requests for assistance since Sunday afternoon. We have attended to 658 of those requests which leaves 332 outstanding which we are continuing to work through in our incident control centre and with multiple crews out in the field. ... Today we have had terrific assistance from the ICC in Sunshine and the MCV here at Malvern with many of the roles staffed by volunteers. We have also been assisted today by 5 MFB (Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade) crews as well as SES crews from Essendon, Northcote, Castlemaine, Corio, Torquay, Sunbury and the North West RSU. @WeWorkAsOne

22.01.2022 VICSES has some amazing women and today we celebrate International Womens day. Thank you for everything you do in communities across our great country.

22.01.2022 Its been a busy few days for SES across the state receiving around 3,000 requests for assistance. We had around 60 since yesterday and with a break in the weather today we were able to send Malvern members to assist SES Emerald Unit to clear a large amount of jobs. They grow them big up that way !

21.01.2022 Malvern SES cant be out there in person raising funds this year, so we have gone online. Please give generously to the RCH.

20.01.2022 Its been a tough week absolutely for so many people and we absolutely cannot take our foot off the gas. We absolutely must stick to what we know is the right thing to do. IF YOU CAN STAY HOME.... YOU. MUST. STAY. HOME. IT WILL SAVE LIVES.

19.01.2022 11 years on we remember the 173 people who lost their lives on black Saturday. We also remember those still affected by the fires and the hundreds of emergency services personnel who responded.

18.01.2022 Malvern Land Based Swift Water Rescue members were called to assist with this rescue in the early hours of this morning along with a number of other Victoria State Emergency Service, Fire Rescue Victoria, Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police resources. A safe and happy ending to this one but please remember, NEVER drive through flood water #weworkasone

18.01.2022 SES units across the state have been instructed to cancel all face-to-face training and we believe this is the right thing to do as we must do whatever we can to reduce the risk of infection to our volunteer members to ensure we are able to maintain our operational capability. We also want to reassure our community that we will continue to respond to all requests for assistance but with some important changes particularly around social distancing and people who are unwell. If... you need to call SES (132500) or Triple zero (000) please advise the call taker if there is anyone at home self-isolating or has any symptoms of COVID-19. And lastly we would like to reiterate how important it is to maintain social distancing, washing hands properly and often and to curb any non-essential travel. These are tough times and we wish everyone all the best. Stay safe and make sure we care for and are considerate to others in our community.

18.01.2022 Its been a busy Saturday for Malvern members. Early this morning we were called to assist Police in Prahran with preserving evidence and also a search of local streets for evidence. And this afternoon we were tasked with removing a tree down on Toorak Rd Hawthorn after a car collided with it and also taking down a power pole. Luckily the driver received only a minor injury. ... Avoid Toorak Rd between Tooronga Rd and Burke Rd as it will closed until at least late tonight. #WeWorkAsOne

17.01.2022 Fathers day this year is like no other but its still fathers day. We wish all the dads out there a very happy fathers day.

17.01.2022 Malvern members have this morning joined the search for William. We hope he is found safe and well. If you are in the area and see him, please keep him with you, keep him warm and call 000 immediately.

15.01.2022 This is terrific news for the Gippsland community but if youre travelling there, heed the warnings from DELWP. Many communities are open for business and they desperately need us to support them whether that be a day trip the with kids (and the dog) or an overnight stay in a local B&B, breeky and lunch at a local cafe or dinner at the pub. Gippsland really is a jewel in our state and a beautiful place to visit.... Pro tip: Take an esky or 2 and bring home some amazing local produce like some excellent cheeses, meats and veges. The local community will love you for it. DELWP Gippsland

15.01.2022 We absolutely have to share this... From our friends at SES Gisborne Unit this is an awesome initiative and a terrific example of engaging with and supporting your local community and being open and inclusive to each and every group in our local area. Regardless of whether you are an emergency service or provide services to your local community, our commitment and message is the same.... #WeWorkAsOne

13.01.2022 Its a beautiful day for a festival! Slip, slop, slap and come down and say hi.

12.01.2022 Our colleagues at VICSES Moe were broken into yesterday and equipment used to perform a vital role was STOLEN. This is a disgrace and we are lost for words how people could target an SES unit who’s role is to help and support their community

11.01.2022 Malvern members Sheree and Phil along with Frankston member Dimity had the privilege to represent SES at the #thebigappeal cricket match today and it was a terrific event. Each team had a 12th woman for the Ponting XI and the Gilchrist XI and the girls even fielded and did a ripper job and rubbing shoulders with legends of the game was a special treat. Members from FFMV, MFB, CFA and the Red Cross also represented their agencies. ... The big winner were bushfire affected communities as in excess of $7.7 million was raised to assist recovery #WeWorkAsOne

11.01.2022 Under cloudy skies and a rather chilly water temperature, SES volunteers from Melbourne metro units including Malvern SES spent the weekend refining skills in Rescue Boats and Swift Water Rescue. It is essential that we continue to maintain and practice our skills while we observe C19 directions and protocols. And a big shout out to our Regional staff, State Operations and Technical Rescue specialists for making it happen.

11.01.2022 Last night we had a visit from our Chief officer Tim Wiebusch and Regional Manager Ray Jasper. Both Tim and Ray wanted to thank the Malvern team for their work attending to 1183 tasks from a few weeks ago (with the assistance of many other units) and to also reconnect with the NDRC team representing Victoria at the National Disaster Rescue Competition to be held in NSW at the end of March. Thanks Tim and Ray for the support. The team certainly appreciated it.

11.01.2022 We are hearing and seeing it everywhere and the message couldnt be any simpler. IF YOU CAN STAY AT HOME, YOU MUST STAY HOME.... IT. WILL. SAVE. LIVES ! #weareallinthistogether

09.01.2022 With everything thats going on keeping our frontline health care workers incredibly busy, the last thing these dedicated professionals needed tonight was their car park blocked by a large tree. It had come down across both lanes of the staff car park entry / exit at the Epworth Hospital in Richmond stopping them from retrieving their cars after a long and tiring shift and there was no way we were going to let them down. Malvern members cleared as much of the tree that was pos...sible which allowed for a lane and a half to be opened up and allow access to the car park and letting our frontline health care workers to get home and get some rest. Epworth

09.01.2022 Malvern SES will be in attendance and supporting this event on Saturday. Come and get your anti theft screws fitted and have a coffee with a cop! Its free and will only take a few minutes. We will be at the car park located in Inglesby Road behind the Council offices from 10-2pm.

09.01.2022 Our volunteer crews continue to work through the remaining tasks today with help from SES Monash, SES Narre Warren Unit SES Castlemaine, SES Melton and MFB (Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade). In total Malvern have received 1013 calls for assistance and we currently have 113 outstanding. Our volunteers are an amazing group of people who are dedicated, passionate and superbly trained to assist communities across the state when disasters strike.

08.01.2022 SAFE PLATE DAY - COFFEE WITH A COP Police from Camberwell and Boroondara, Boroondara NHW and the SES had a successful day today installing one way screws to peo...ples Registration Plates. Its good timing as we have had a few number plate theft reports this week. It was nice to have a positive day as we enjoyed a coffee and good conversation with the community. A big THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped today. See more

08.01.2022 Malvern members were out again today in our local community assisting with more trees that had come down in the recent storm causing damage to homes and other structures. we were also happy to send a crew to assist SES Emerald Unit with cleaning up damage to their local area.

06.01.2022 Rain, hail or shine (and weve sure had a bit of all of that this weekend!) and even during a global pandemic / stage 4 lockdown, Malvern SES members are out and assisting the community. Call 132 500 if you need assistance and 000 if a life threatening emergency

06.01.2022 Hands up who doesnt love a long weekend... We thought so... No one. If youre heading away over the next few days please remember a few basic road skills.... ALWAYS drive to the road and weather conditions. ALWAYS take a break from behind the wheel for at least 15 minutes every 2 hours. NEVER drive through flood waters. IF YOU HAVE had a beer or two, DONT EVEN THINK about driving and make sure you have a plan B. STOP at an SES driver reviver site for a chat, a coffee or tea and have a break from the road. HAVE an awesome time with family and friends AND make it home safe and sound #AVAGOODWEEKEND

04.01.2022 As we work towards zero requests for assistance (and we are close) Two Malvern SES supporters called in to see the team and thank us for all the terrific work our volunteers have been doing in our community. Katie Allen MP the member for Higgins and Michael OBrien MP the Member for Malvern spoke to our teams in the Incident control centre and thanked them for a terrific job in supporting our local residents.... Thanks to both Katie and Michael for your encouragement and kind words.

03.01.2022 Tonight we are deeply saddened to hear of the death of 4 members of Victoria Police who were out performing their duties protecting and serving our community. Any lose of life on our roads is tragic but when its members of a Victorian emergency service organisation, it touches us all as first responders. Our thoughts, prayers and sincere condolences are with the members families, colleagues and friends.... We dont know their names but they shall be known from this day forward as heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice upholding the right and protecting each and every one of us. Not only do #WeWorkAsOne , we grieve as one...
