23.01.2022 When you dance, are you simply moving your body, or are you moving people? This weekend I was able to attend a salsa competition in Sicily. All of the participa...nts were amazing, but there were a few who stood out to me above the others: they were not simply executing steps, they made ME want to dance! This is it, right? The ever elusive X-Factor, the thing that no one can really describe, the thing that just draws you to certain people when they move. Others may even be better technically, but there are those people that draw you in. These are the people that not only perform steps but put a piece of themselves into the movement. This is what you are drawn to. Them. Who they are, they’re personality...they don’t have to say a word, but you feel like you know them. But this takes vulnerability. Putting who you are into your movement means who you are is out on display. Affords others the opportunity to either accept, or reject who you are. This takes an immense amount of courage. However, if you do, there is a level of connection that goes deep and lasts way beyond the end of the song. As you allow yourself to be free in the movement, you will inspire others to do the same, you will make them want to move with you, to share a piece of who they are back with you. And this is our goal, right? As instructors? To inspire others to move? To keep them coming back to class? To get them to push through when they are tired and want to quit? To help them achieve their goals? It’s risky, but it’s worth it. Yes, some may not like you. Yes, some may reject you. But for the ones who don’t...For the ones who see you, are moved by you, and inspired to move, you will have a deep and meaningful connection with them that will last far beyond the walls of your class because you will have moved more than just their bodies, you will have moved their soul. #zumba #zumbafitness #dance #dancefitness #fun #inspire #wedancetoinspire #wemovetheworld #inspiration #motivation #vulnerability @ghenadii_photography
