23.01.2022 I know that being being in lockdown for some is really tough however as someone who has been burning the candle both ends - I quite like the forced relaxation! I finally get a chance to spend some quality time with my family and watch some photography courses that I purchased a while back. Stop-motion video captured for @omanastoreau

23.01.2022 The upside of shooting with a macro lens is that you capture gorgeous texture shots. The downside of a macro lens is that it picks up ERRYTHING including that little bit of fluff that mysteriously appears from nowhere. Thank goodness for post-production. ... For those you are unaware, post-production includes more than just cropping an image & adjusting the exposure and contrast. It could also mean removing dust spots, tidying up imperfections on products, fixing the white balance, adjusting the tone curve, and much more. Retouching an image can actually take longer than styling and shooting a product. All this is considered when quoting for a photography project. 20.01.2022 Over the next few weeks, I will aim to write a blog post explaining the different types of eCommerce images that can be produced. For clients, this can be confusing. For example, do you want the product deep-etched, with a reflection or drop-shadow, or do you want it simply on a coloured background? Will the product be sold on your website or a third-party site like Amazon? 18.01.2022 My favourite lens at the moment is my 90mm macro lens. I love the detail it can capture especially for beauty, skincare and beverage photography. Unfortunately, I've had some issues with my lens so it has been sent away for repairs. Fingers crossed it comes back better than ever! 16.01.2022 One of the things I focused on last year was upping my editing skills. Working with reflective products, in particular, always poses challenges. There are the small dust spots that appear (even when wearing those special white gloves!), and then there are the reflective surfaces that show EVERYTHING.... That's why when quoting for photography work, it's important to show the photographer images of your products right from the start. 15.01.2022 Why do photographers not give their RAW images to clients? Because in many instances, it’s far from the finished product! As you can see from my example, this simple image of a perfume bottle shot with natural light still needed a bit of work to get it to the final image. ... Since this was an image taken for fun I wasn’t as concerned about colour correction. But if it was an image captured for a client then more time would have been spent ensuring the product colours were accurate. Got a question about editing? Feel free to send me a DM.

15.01.2022 As a freelancer (or business owner), you are always working: either servicing clients, or working on your business doing accounts, marketing, purchasing, business development, and admin. The pro of working for yourself is that you get to set your own hours (which is awesome by the way!) The downside is that you don't take off as much time as you would in the corporate world. I am definitely guilty of not taking time off! So, I'm going to change that and have a break sta...rting tomorrow. I will be finalising all client projects today and will be back online in the new year. Over the next couple of weeks, I do hope to share some of the projects that have been keeping me busy. Until then ... I have client projects to complete!

14.01.2022 Happy Monday to you all! I have lots of photography projects that I can't wait to share soon. In many cases, the projects I'm working on won't be shared until: The new product or brand has been launched (this can sometimes take months)... The client has shared the images first. I usually wait until my client has shared the image on their social media or website before I promote it on my own social pages. In some instances, I shoot campaigns that I don't have permission to share on my social pages but I am able to include in my portfolio on my website. So be sure to check out my website! Link in bio. 04.01.2022 WATER PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS If you follow any skincare or beauty brands there's a good chance they have a water shot in their feed! This is one of my favourite style of shots to take for brands and it's fairly easy to execute.... You will need a clear acrylic tray. If you want a coloured background, simply add a piece of coloured card or backdrop underneath. To get the ripple effect there are a few methods you can use. 1 You can pour the water in from the top. Aim for the sides rather than on top of the product. 2 Use a straw to blow into the water and create the movement. 3 Use a hairdryer. Keep the hairdryer on its lowest setting and carefully position it above the water to create the ripple effects. CAUTION: remember water and electricity DON'T MIX so be very careful when using this method. #photographytips #skincarephotography

The thing I love about this is that I get to create both written & visual content for businesses. I decided to look at one of my days to show you how varied my days can look. ...
