21.01.2022 Our last class for 2019 is complete- and what a great class it was! It was a fully booked class as always, but of course the photo at the end is optional- and most opted out... so our MAMABirth presenter Kelly decided to fill up the spare space :)

19.01.2022 We know perineal tearing is a concern for many expectant mums! But did you know there are some all-too-common birthing practices that might actually unknowingly increase the chance of sustaining a serious tear? . Here's some great info to help you understand more and have a plan for how to give yourself the best chance of avoiding a serious tear while giving birth: . http://theconversation.com/what-we-know-about-perineal-tear

16.01.2022 Are you over 34 weeks pregnant and facing the reality of birth under COVID-19 restrictions? Are you feeling worried about how you will cope without extra support people in the hospital birthing room? Is your partner ready to provide the calm and confidence that you will need when that time comes? These are unprecedented times and partners are being asked to step up in a way they may not be prepared for. It's not too late, though! MAMA has developed a course for partners that ...will help them get the knowledge and skills to be an extraordinary support for their birthing women. Over four Saturdays, our Birth Support for Partners course is straightforward, evidence-based and covers everything from the basics of birth and how to prepare the hospital room to making decisions around interventions and providing emotional support. More information and booking info available at https://buff.ly/34Yms3R If you are experiencing COVID-19 related financial difficulties that may keep you from enrolling, we have some discounted spaces available. Please PM us to discuss.

13.01.2022 Our November class has graduated!!! We laughed, we cried but mostly we had fun and learnt about birth! Soon all of these lovely families will have their babies in their arms :)

11.01.2022 February MAMABirth was a sensational group; and we may have had the record for number of attendees that have a MAMA Midwife booked in for birth support! We look forward to hearing your stories of birth and early parenthood...

09.01.2022 A gorgeous birth announcement and some very positive feedback from a past attendee; 'Johnny and I welcomed our baby Pearl Yvie on the 6th April. We laboured at home and got to the hospital fully dilated and pushing! Couldn’t have asked for a better outcome (apart from the car journey ). We are all doing really well and staying safe at home. Here she is now 8 days old! Thank you for your birth education classes- they really set us up for a good birth. ... All the best to you. Esme and Johnny'

08.01.2022 We had our first MAMABirth class taught via Live Webinar yesterday and it seemed to be a success! Well, at least we didn't have any 'epic fails' like the woman in this video Feedback from the participants will be sought and shared next week after our second class!

07.01.2022 We find attending around 24-34 weeks is the optimal time to come along to MAMABirth Classes, but it's completely up to the individual! . Sometimes it's a great idea to attend earlier in your pregnancy as it gives you time to research your options further and make any changes you decide are necessary - but the first trimester is a little too early. . Attending at 35-36 weeks and beyond is also challenging as you may be quite physically uncomfortable with sitting down for most... of the day, you don't have much time to persue different options after the course, and there is also the chance your baby could arrive before you complete the course. . Please get in touch with us if you would like to discuss further! . www.mamabirtheducation.com See more

06.01.2022 A wonderful birth story from a MAMABirth attendee! Thanks Beth & Scott for sharing your journey with us... 'Hi Kelly,...Continue reading

04.01.2022 It's true that breastfeeding can be a little uncomfortable at first - and it's certainly a learned skill for both mother and baby! It should not be ongoingly painful, however. . Here is a great video from Dr Robyn Thompson sharing some tips for avoiding nipple pain while breastfeeding: . https://www.facebook.com/DrRobynThompson/videos/399231943986473/

04.01.2022 In our experience as midwives in a variety of settings, we have seen time and time again that knowledge = power, especially for first time parents. . It makes sense to prepare for something as life-changing as having a baby! We research buying a car, the reviews before seeing a new movie, and which pram to buy ... but often don't put the same thought and preparation into what we want out of our birth/beyond journeys (there's more to it than just a healthy mother/healthy baby!...). Instead we sometimes "leave it to the experts", and in doing so we risk leaving life-changingly important decisions to someone who often is a stranger with different wishes, philosophies and priorities to us. . It's important to remember that you will only have one first birth and it's too late afterwards to say "I wish I'd have known that earlier..." . While MAMABirth can't possibly cover every scenario, we give you a good understanding of what is normal, how to keep it normal, as well as strategies and tools for navigating deviations from the norm and making informed decisions. We keep it interactive & engaging and content is always tweaked to the interests and needs of our individual participants. Participants consistently tell us they feel "so much better" after coming to our classes, especially those who are "scared of knowing too much". . Find out more: www.mamabirtheducation.com See more

01.01.2022 Apologies for our tardy announcement of the September MAMABirth graduates, but here they are in all their glory. 'Knowledge is power', let your births be empowered by your MAMABirth knowledge!

01.01.2022 We understand the challenges our community are facing in the current COVID-19 pandemic; we are facing them with you. However we are very happy to announce our first online class was a great success, with survey respondents saying 'I would definitely recommend this online course to a friend', 'Kelly was amazing and highly competent' and 'The information we received through the online class was very helpful'.
