25.01.2022 We're a big fan of the pins! You? . . . #acupuncture #pregnancy #labour #birth #postpartum #postnatal #health #digestion #nausea #fatigue #headaches #stress #anxiety #backpain #naturalhealth #painrelief #mamacare

25.01.2022 I have landed in the beautiful Northern Rivers! I am sooooo happy to be working with this wonderful group of women

25.01.2022 This update applies to MamaCare also! We are going on leave from next month until early March next year. This means I cannot take on any new / birthing mothers for fourth trimester support - not until the new year - but please do get in touch if you're looking for postpartum care and I can help you with a referral, as there are a couple of us doing this work locally now (hurrah!). While on sabbatical, I plan to rewrite and expand on the MamaCare Resource Booklet and grow it... into a bona fide BOOK Watch this space xoxox

22.01.2022 HOLIDAY! We are on leave from this afternoon, for the next two weeks, returning to work on Monday 19th August. Looking forward to coming back then, refreshed and ready to jump straight into appointments!

20.01.2022 How did you receive support during the first year of baby's life? Or... in what ways would you have wished to receive support?

20.01.2022 Merry Christmas if you observe it and otherwise wishing everyone a wonderful festive season and start to the new year / decade. As my daughter writes here... the message is LOVE

19.01.2022 So much truth here New Mums, their partners and family need significant support following the arrival of a new baby.

18.01.2022 "... we know that many new parents come to parenting with certain expectations of themselves as parents, and how parenting will look in their new family. The reality is often quite different. And sometimes the shock of expectations not being met, and adjusting to the new reality, can contribute to postnatal anxiety or depression." PANDA is a great support and resource for new Mums and Dads. https://www.panda.org.au//adjusting-to-/myths-vs-realities

18.01.2022 Reflux, especially in late pregnancy, is the pits. Here is a simple and easy home-remedy to ease uncomfortable reflux symptoms #yourewelcome http://mamacarehealth.com.au/reflux-relief-lozenges/

18.01.2022 Spending today in deep discussion of postpartum care and why it's SO important for healthcare. Just love that there's more and continuing conversation about this, especially amongst practitioners working with new and expectant mothers. . . . #postpartum #postnatal #zuoyuezi #goldenmonth #fourthtrimester #nourishthemother #mamacare

18.01.2022 Postpartum nutrition tip: simple is good... in fact, it's GREAT! Eating well and nourishing yourself doesn't have to be complicated. For example, an easy and nutritious pesto can be made from just a handful of ingredients, whizzed in the blender in a matter of minutes, and stirred through pasta. Done! (Even better, it's super easy for others to make for you ) . .... . #postpartum #postnatal #food #nutrition #eatwell #fourthtrimester #goldenmonth #nourishthemother #breastfeeding #mamacare See more

16.01.2022 We use and love Ecosia Seeing as all of us are online so much, why not use a service that does something helpful for our environment, community and planet!

16.01.2022 Later today I'll be with my family, some friends and many thousands of others, at the #climatestrike in Sydney. Climate change and planetary health are crucially important issues that affect us all. As a clinician - but, more importantly, mother and human who wants to see a sustainable future beyond my lifetime - I am dedicated to taking action. Every little bit helps

14.01.2022 Are there any Northern Rivers mums-to-be on this page? If yes, put this in your calendar for the weekend! It will be a fun morning and valuable info for you and your birth partner!

13.01.2022 It's ALSO great for postpartum recovery

12.01.2022 Back for business! Today, along with other clinical presentations, I've seen several women for pregnancy support (darn morning sickness!) and postpartum care

12.01.2022 Wonderful tips here on ways to nourish, and be nourished, through the fourth trimester. https://www.motheringarts.com/seaweed-and-sitting-moons-nu/

12.01.2022 As you know, I have been on sabbatical with my family for the past three months. Lucky! I will be back in practice from 18th March and I only have capacity for a handful of new MamaCare patients during March and April, so please get in touch SOONER rather than later if you are interested. I can also recommend other postpartum carers locally if you are looking for an in-home service get in touch and I will connect you.... xoxo

12.01.2022 Northern Rivers Mamaaaaas! Doesn't this make you want to come in for a treatment?

11.01.2022 Honestly. What *is* parenting, if not an exercise in eating your own words? (of course, it's beautiful, challenging, relentless, rewarding, etc...) Cartoon is by Emily Flake in the New Yorker (who has some wonderful series on motherhood and parenting and the challenge of balancing who you 'should' be [or what you feel you 'should' be doing] with a deep soulful connection to your child/ren)

09.01.2022 Constipation and sluggish bowel function is very common during pregnancy and after giving birth. It's the worst! Here is a tried and true home remedy to help keep things moving -- its also tasty, breastfeeding friendly and extremely easy to make. http://mamacarehealth.com.au/604-2/

09.01.2022 Australian research highlighting (and confirming!) the importance of support and care for parents in the weeks and months after birth #ittakesavillage "Parents have lost the village it takes to raise a child and increasingly feel isolated and unsupported. We need to have conversations with parents about how important this village will become and to start putting this support in place before the baby comes." https://www.sbs.com.au//parents-have-lost-the-village-it-t

09.01.2022 For any pregnant mamas who could use some assistance xox

08.01.2022 Nurturing care. Professional treatment. Adapted to your needs. In the comfort and privacy of your own home. ** NB. I am on leave from the end of this week until 19th August. ** ... If you want to register for a MamaCare program or arrange in-home care from late August onwards, let me know now and we'll find a time for you. See more

07.01.2022 FYI re: appointments and support xox

06.01.2022 In view of the devastating and ongoing bushfires affecting so many communities across Australia, this guide is a useful one for those of you in affected areas who have little ones. Sending much love and support, for what it's worth, as we watch from the other side of the world https://theconversation.com/evacuating-with-a-baby-heres-wh

06.01.2022 This week is PANDA week - Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia - raising awareness of the impact that pregnancy, birth and early parenthood can have on mental health. Acknowledging and normalising anxiety and depression are important steps towards removing the stigma (unfortunately, still) associated with mental health. It affects more of us than you may realise - 1 in 5 women and 1 in 7 men. I have heard so many stories of struggle from new parents: in the clinic, throug...h friends, family and my community. I struggled myself, significantly, after returning to work when my daughter was still a baby. It was a horrible awful time. Yesterday was the funeral for a girl I knew from school - a beautiful kind-hearted woman, a doctor, a mother of two little girls... and someone for whom postnatal depression could not be overcome. Absolutely heartbreaking. We often see memes and make jokes about 'the juggle' of parenthood and for all of us it is crazy and stressful and overwhelming at different times... but for many of us too there will be periods where it feels insurmountable. Help and support is *essential* during this time. It is rarely easy to ask for help but it is so beneficial. It is also imperative that we look out for others around us and check in which how they're faring. It really DOES take a village and we need to look after one another.

04.01.2022 Lots of babies dropping at the moment... and new mamas being born We've been delivering food and treatments and herbal tonics... and these gorgeous #postnatal bath herbs for new mums (and bubs) to soak in and heal. Did you use any remedies after the birth of your baby/ies? . . #postpartum #fourthtrimester #goldenmonth #nourishthemother #herbalmedicine #nutrition #foodasmedicine #mamacare #familyhealth #community #ittakesavillage

03.01.2022 Love this. Perfect

03.01.2022 After eight years living and working in Sydney, and the past four running MamaCare, it's time to make a move. I'm about to relocate, with my family, to the beautiful Northern Rivers (where I spent a lot of my teens surfing the coastline... twenty years ago!) And once we are settled I'll confirm new practice plans and reboot MamaCare's postpartum services... more on that in the coming months. But for now, it's farewell to Sydney and all the beautiful people I've had the good fortune to connect with in this big, busy town

02.01.2022 Spending the next three days taking a deep dive into pregnancy, birth and postpartum care - love learning, growing and extending my skills

01.01.2022 This has been shared widely over the past few days, and for good reason. Meghan's honesty is so relatable - transitioning to motherhood, to parenthood, is a deeply vulnerable and challenging time

01.01.2022 Time in bed, time to rest, is time well spent. Some days you can carve out a really lovely big chunk of time for yourself... and others, you'll be able to catch just a few minutes. It all helps, however, every little bit. Allowing no space or time for yourself, especially as a new mother, is a recipe for burnout. Your reserves are not limitless! Just like your baby, just like your partner, just like everyone else around you... YOU need love, support and (importantly) rest. ...How do you find this in your day? Who is your support crew? . . . #mamacare #nourishthemother #postnatal #postpartum #fourthtrimester #goldenmonth #rest #recovery #support #health #motherhood #parenthood #ittakesavillage See more

01.01.2022 A stewed fruit blend, like this gingery apple-kiwi compote, is not only delicious, but also nutrient dense (especially high in vitamin C, which is so beneficial at this time of year!) and a great source of fibre. It is also easy to make, stores well (in the fridge or freezer) and can be dolloped onto porridge, muesli, yoghurt... or eaten directly off the spoon. Sometimes (most times, in fact) 'superfoods' come disguised as simple, everyday seasonal foods. It is easier than many people realise to be nourished. . . . #toptip #winterhealth #foodasmedicine #kitchenremedies #naturalhealth #familyhealth #parenthood #mamacare #ittakesavillage #eatwell
