25.01.2022 I had a huge sleep in this morning - 7.30am which is actually most unlike me - I’m normally a 5-5.30am riser (by choice - I feel like you need to clarify that when you have children!), because I was up late last night putting the finishing touches on our email update which went out this morning. 14.01.2022 The end of the best week for Mama Maya (and for me personally) so far! On Wednesday I was so incredibly honoured today to be recognised as a finalist in the Marie Claire + Bumble Glass Ceiling Awards celebrating women doing amazing things in business! Truly a pinch-me moment and a thrill to even be nominated for the Social Conscience award for Mama Maya amongst such incredible women, and meeting so many fabulous people (including this queen Zali Steggall who smashed one of th...e biggest and best glass ceilings in May! ) It was always my goal in starting our beautiful, ethical swaddle brand to help more women around the world have a cleaner, safer birth. And I’m so grateful and honoured that we’re being recognised for making a difference! Thank you so much Nicky Briger and the Marie Claire and Bumble team for the honour of being nominated and for putting on this amazing event! #mcglassceiling

Mercury Retrograde hit me HARD these last few weeks a few missing emails, our TV remote went missing for a few days, and my Macbook just up and died, so I had to get a new computer. The good news? I have a new laptop that I love, we've sent lots of international orders (hello The Netherlands, Thailand, New Zealand, Dubai, New York, San Diego, Boston, Vancouver, Singapore, Hong Kong, London, and Ireland!) and I'm now at 'inbox zero' which is possibly on...e of the best feelings in the world, right? 12.01.2022 One of my favourite baby shower gifts (besides a swaddle of course!) is books. The new ones (we love all the books in The Gruffalo series), and all the classics (Aussie mamas, how beautiful is Possum Magic!). You can't go wrong when you add to a little library because like swaddles, you can't have enough books! And sometimes I buy them just for me, because they look so darn pretty on a shelf. 12.01.2022 It's amazing how the universe conspires to bring you to where you really need to be. I'd always wanted my own business, and I spent almost 15 years working in advertising and media waiting for the inspiration to strike. And to be honest, my career was a little devoid of purpose so I was really focused on starting a business for good! It wasn't until my first son Hugo was born that a little seed was sewn for what Mama Maya is today. Poor little thing was born with th...e umbilical cord around his neck and required medical intervention (!) to deliver him safely. I was so grateful for the doctor and midwife I had supporting me, and it was a few weeks later when I heard about the work of Birthing Kit Foundation Australia that I fully understood how fortunate I was to be able to give birth in a world-class hospital, and how this quite common occurrence in childbirth could have meant life or death for either me, or my baby. I was blown away that a simple birthing kit costing just a few dollars could make a huge difference to women giving birth in a developing country. Fast forward a couple of years, and I was on maternity leave with my youngest son Remy when the inspiration came to start a muslin swaddle brand - organic, sustainable, and ethical in every way (and a better alternative to all of the mass name-brand swaddles that I had at home!) - with a purpose to support women to give birth safely in developing countries. I have met so many women recently who are keen to start something themselves, to go out on their own, and my heart just swells with enthusiasm and excitement for them! There's never been a better time for women to get out there and try to build something that aligns with their passion and gives them a sense of purpose. And hey, I now also get to look at gorgeous little babies so what could be better?! See more

Her YouTube channel is a rabbit hole for financial tips and inspiration on how to live a minimalist lifestyle with style! So you can imagine how honoured I am that Canna has chosen Mama Maya swaddles for her new baby (thank you Canna! ), featuring in her most recent video on ‘Minimalism, Zero Waste + a Baby’. 05.01.2022 Super soft organic swaddles..only the best for your (fur) baby! I remember being pregnant with my eldest child and setting up the nursery - our cat thought the room was just for her! She would alternate between sleeping in the cot and then on the change table, and kept up her positions long after he arrived.
