25.01.2022 A Sri Lankan curry feast, fit for a Queen! #JrMasterChefAU #MasterChefAU

24.01.2022 Congratulations to Georgia, Junior MasterChef Australia winner for 2020!! We loved watching you play to your Sri Lankan heritage with your Nana's recipes

24.01.2022 So keen on these beans! Mama calls them oiled beans - they are regular green beans (or snake beans), lightly sautéed with spices.

24.01.2022 Seeni Sambol A delicious sweet, sour, spicy, salty onion relish. Traditionally this sambol would contain Maldive fish - tiny pieces of dried fish from the Maldives. It adds a salty, umami type flavour. This version is minus the Maldive fish - however, still super delish ... Best served as a side to rice and curry, hoppers or on hot buttered toast

23.01.2022 Getting these babies ready to send to a special family Have you tried our curry kits? Head to www.mamascurrykit.com.au to buy yours today!

21.01.2022 Nana's Pan Rolls One of my favourite memories of my Nan were the famous Pan Rolls she used to make. She was one of the most precise people I've ever met and so every roll was uniform, perfect and delicious. I thought I'd try making them this morning without realising how much work actually goes into creating them - making the crepes, making the filling, rolling them up etc etc. It really is a true labour of love.... Mine didn't turn out like Nana's, but I'm so glad to see my girl enjoying them all the same

12.01.2022 Pittu is a traditional dish made from rice flour and coconut. It’s steamed and then enjoyed with curry and coconut milk. Sometimes it’s simple ingredients, brought together that create something amazing.

12.01.2022 We’ve shown you Pol Sambol, but here is Pol Mallum - fresh coconut, mixed with turmeric, curry leaves and spices

10.01.2022 Mama's Mallum - one of the tastiest ways to eat your greens. It can be made with silverbeet, spinach and a host of other greens, chopped and lightly sauteed with onion, garlic, coconut and spices. Sounds delicious right? My absolute favourite is Mama's Broccoli Mallum - it's super healthy, super tasty and super easy to make! Check out the recipe at the link below!

08.01.2022 So my munchkin has been under the weather for the last week and some creativity was required for dinner tonight! I found some beetroot, tomatoes, mushrooms and spinach in the fridge, paired with staples like onion, garlic, coconut milk and of course Mamas spices. Voila! Delightful dinner that even the little patient enjoyed

07.01.2022 We often are asked about what tamarind is. Here it is! In its most natural form! Tamarind tree produces pod like fruit and the flesh from these pods are harvested for cooking. It gives a delicious, sweet yet sour flavour to lots of cuisines and can be found in a little sachet in our Mamas Chicken Curry. Intrigued? Head to our website to pick up a kit and try it for yourself!

06.01.2022 In these uncertain times, delicious food always makes people feel better www.mamascurrykit.com.au

06.01.2022 Mama’s Dhal and Mama’s Brinjals in action! Tina Ho is absolutely right - it is the perfect rainy day meal.

06.01.2022 Mas Paan Literally translated to Meat Bread. A deliciously spiced mince and potato concoction wrapped in a light, fluffy bread dough and then roasted. These bad boys are a common "short eat" in Sri Lanka. What are short eats? Baked or fried snack type foods, the equivalent of the good ol party pie or sausage rolls but (in my opinion), tastier. Controversial? You'll just have to try them for yourself

04.01.2022 Surprise deliveries are the best kind! This one is headed to a family in Marrickville from their very sweet, thoughtful friend

03.01.2022 Yasss!! So happy to see Dee from MasterChef doing Sri Lankan cooking proud!

02.01.2022 We are often asked what goes into our Mama’s Curry Kits. So here are the contents of the Chicken Curry kit: 1. Curry powder - this is our family recipe. A selection of spices, that Mama hand roasts and grinds for you. 2. Curry leaves - picked and packed fresh from one of Mamas many curry leaf trees... 3. Tamarind - an essential ingredient to give your curry that zing 4. Chilli powder - because.. well curry This is a choose your own adventure type ingredient, add it all in if you like spice or leave it out completely! 4. Fresh garlic - another necessity in our curries This is all accompanied by a recipe card to guide you through the cooking!
