25.01.2022 So our new normal started today. It's strange but really not the end of the world. In fact, I would recommend them for changing poopy nappies. I was on the way out and Hec needed changing and I must say it was a 100% improvement. I'm definitely wearing them for changes moving forward. I'm still making masks. I have 30 on my list at the moment. Send me a DM if you are looking for some. I'm getting through them as quick as I can ATM.
23.01.2022 Work in progress shot. Her she is all painted. I'm just giving her a few minutes to dry before I start sewing in the leaves on her hair. There are lots of leaves lol.
22.01.2022 My Lela is tricky. She lives with precocious puberty. So early puberty started for her at 6 years of age instead of starting around now. So she's had extra growth spurts and is bigger. Plus she eats her feelings a bit like me. What kid doesn't like junk too. She's the youngest in her year by 12 months and one of the biggest. She's also quirky and loves all pretty little girl style clothes in Target etc. which she hasn't fit into since before she started primary school. Now s...he is a size 14. Her waist is outside the waist measurement for all the tween dress patterns I have bought so now I'm trying to modify ladies patterns. Here I made the smallest size of the Sew Liberated Hinterland dress just to see how it looks. I did it as a peplum top too as I only had a little bit of fabric left. I need to modify it slightly as I think it's a little low cut for her but I think it's going to be a great base for some quirky little girl dresses for my big little girl. She loves some of the Peppermint magazine freebie patterns too so we are going to play with them next. See more
21.01.2022 The colours aren't right because of the light but I just finished this piece. I've had the pattern a while and have been eager to put it together but masks lol. I used colours I had on hand but tried to get them as close to the picture as I could. I hoard scraps of fabric and I've had this piece of aida cloth for about 10 years waiting for the right project and finally I was able to use it. I'll give it a quick hand wash tomorrow and then frame it once it's dry. The pattern is by @stitchrovia and you can buy it on Etsy along with a whole bunch of other gorgeous pieces. https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/Stitchrovia
21.01.2022 I have been slowly chipping away at this gorgeous @kasiajacquotembroidery embroidery over the last few nights. We got off on a bumpy start last week but I think I've salvaged things. I'm not sure satin stitch is my thing but I'm getting there.
21.01.2022 I've been flat out making masks for us and our extended family and friends. Our drs asked me to make a few for them too. Fingers crossed they are happy with them. I'm struggling to find elastic that isn't neon yellow (I have 10m of neon yellow) so I'm upcycling some maternity stockings for us (any stockings will do!) And it's actually pretty comfortable. I didn't need to use as much as it's a little stretchier and it's not as hard on my ears. It's easier to adjust too. A quick knot and it's tighter if needed. I'm wearing a @kirstenkatzart fabric scraps for this one.
21.01.2022 Another work in progress shot. 2 hours work last night cutting and pinning felt leaves to her hair and painting vines. I think she needs some more vines tonight!! And I'll sew on the leaves then paint them. When I'm finished she will be completely washable. I'm using an additive to the paint to make the paint waterproof. I regularly used it and wash our dolls without any issue. @sustainablehandmadecollective #shcgetyosewon
20.01.2022 Here's a little sneak peak of something I had the urge to start tonight. I had hoped to finish a book while I stitched but Torbin had other ideas. I'm having trouble seeing so calling it a night.
19.01.2022 I'm wanting to start making clothes for the handsomest of men, my hubby Tim. Does anyone know any good mens patterns to turn to? I'm not good with the big pattern companies and I have a few Twig and Tale but they aren't really Tim. Can you help? I need to trust that they are going to come together properly.
18.01.2022 Here are my final shots for the doll I made for this month's @sustainablehandmadecollective #shcgetyosewon - voting opens in a few days and there are lots of sustainable handmade goodies over there too!! Check them out!!
17.01.2022 Perfectly summed up. I have about 15 more to make and since we are entering home schooling again I have to stop again for a while. I'm not managing anything else at the moment and my kids need me more.
16.01.2022 Day 1 of Michelle Bridges 12 week challenge and I'm excited about this breakfast. Banana and ricotta toastie. Dinner looks fantastic too. I'm really excited about this and I'm hoping to make some life long changes for Tim and the kids as much as myself.
16.01.2022 I've had a rough few years health wise and a huge part of that was my weight. After lockdown V1.0 I got up to 86kg which is my biggest ever. I was 86kg full term pregnant with the boys only difference is I wasn't pregnant now lol. It's also a huge difference to the 55kg I was prekids. I recognise 55kg is too small and I don't want that again. What I do want is to be strong and healthy. So I joined @michellebridges #12wbt in July. About half way I fell off the cart a bit. My p...lan was to eat 1200 caleries per day and exercise 6 days a week. I want to get to 65kg. I was eating slightly more by the midway point which was still an improvement and only exercising 4 times a week which is still an improvement again but my weightloss journey slowed. In the end I lost 7kg in 12 weeks and I'm below 80kg for the first time since 2014. I've also gone from being obese in the BMI's to being overweight which is a wonderful feeling. I've joined the October round and with school going back in term 4 and spring hopefully coming I know l it will be a easier to stay focused and on track. Home school took a big part of my day and the boys and house took the rest. I'm beyond proud and I've been sewing like a mad woman because all my summer clothes are too big now which is a nice feeling too. I'm making room in my stash which is a fantastic feeling too!! I'll share some photos of my makes in the coming days!! I've made like 4 dresses, 2 skirts and a shirt but I have more cut and I want to share it all finished. See more
15.01.2022 Here are some masks I made for one of my teacher friends.
14.01.2022 I've been thoroughly spoiled for my birthday. @lasercast_oz My hubby gave me this gorgeous @kasiajacquotembroidery embroidery kit and a cool new board game. Lela wanted to choose me something special and chose a lovely necklace while we were on our adventure. We had a trip to Kyneton for lunch. It was like 8 degrees and the wind went straight through us but we warmed up with some yummy pies from @countrycobbakery and the coffees were amazing from @monsieurpierrekyneton - Everyone was social distancing and sanitizing. The boys were really restless so it made shopping tricky but I finally got to look around in @aliceinfabricland - Overall it's been a wonderful birthday.
12.01.2022 This week's work. It all needs a good press but I'm letting it drop naturally first. I started another pinafore tonight but my head is just not in it. Once everything is finished I'll post some pics.
10.01.2022 Lela and I got to paint some plates during the holidays. Check out this little artist at work. @bendigopottery
09.01.2022 Work in progress shot. This is a doll I'm making for the @sustainablehandmadecollective #shcgetyosewon this month. She's a wood sprite. I've finished her skirt and a flower rug for picnics. I just need to finish her capelet. I'm awful at bias binding at the best of times and this is so fine I found it easiest to finish by hand. I've only just started so it's got some work to go. I then have to give her a face and decorate her. That's the part I'm looking forward to. Fingers cross I don't over do it lol. Does she need wings or is it ok if she is wingless? I have loads of cherry fabric left too so I'm thinking about making Lela a hat too.
09.01.2022 If anyone is wanting to order a dress or button up shirt, I have these fabrics available. Feel free to message me to discuss options and requirements.
08.01.2022 Best lunch today. I didn't think it would be enough but I'm soooo full!! Tuna scrolls.
07.01.2022 This is one of my first makes!!! I finished this 7 years ago today!! I knitted it and then tied on every single strand of the fur. There was a kitted stitch suggested for the texture but do you think I could work it out? So I just knitted it and manually furred her. She's still knocking around at home somewhere too. My first Bomie the Abominable Snowlady.
06.01.2022 Who else is struggling with home school? It's day 2 of week 2 and Lela and I are still in our PJs, hairs a mess and the house is worse. Then little gems like this happen. NOTE: torbin's nappy is clean, it is a little big.
06.01.2022 Working on a big batch of masks. This time there will be some kids masks too. Send me a message if you would like to order some!
06.01.2022 Finished!! I'll get final photos at some point tomorrow!! Yay!!! I'm so happy!!! @sustainablehandmadecollective #shcgetyosewon
05.01.2022 We planned on making these spray painted shoes in the holidays and we started week one and have had the paints for weeks but managed to get them finished today. Here are some photos of Lela having fun with the paint. I'll post after photos tomorrow.
05.01.2022 These large size #masks are available for purchase. I'm mostly making larges for adults. They are $15 each plus postage. I'm happy to take orders too. I'm in #Bendigo #Victoria and I'm happy to deliver into mailboxes locally. The masks have 3 layers as per Victorian DHHS recommendations. The outside layers are cotton and the middle layer is polyester. I have pattern sizes XS to XL available. DM for details, to discuss sizing and I can send fabric samples. I'm limited to the fabrics I have available at the moment because I haven't been able to get new fabrics. The last time I was at spotlight they were almost cleaned out.
05.01.2022 My clever little artist. I bought Hector a whiteboard so I can help him practice writing his name and he drew this masterpiece!! I love it!!
04.01.2022 Dinner last night was amazing!!! Michelle Bridges #12wtc is so great. I'm not hungry. I'm craving things but that's okay. I just really need to do the work outs. I missed 3 last week because kids but I'm still seeing results. Tim was very happy with last night's dinner. He eats dinners with me. This was the chicken rice bowl but I swapped some things in and out and stayed within my calorie allotment. Veges have very few calories I'm finding.
02.01.2022 @materialdifference.com.au has opened their pre-orders and I'm thinking about ordering these fabrics. What does everyone think?
02.01.2022 Boardgame night. Torbin fell asleep on Tim at 5 so he is up late. He wasn't too bad really. We have him a token and he played. #patchwork #splendor
