21.01.2022 Habitat Care is a project jointly founded by the Mammal Society of NSW and Animal Care Australia. The recent catastrophic fires across Australia have resulted in the loss of a billion or more animals, along with the many varieties of flora that may take decades to recover. Habitat Care is seeking volunteers who want to be involved in the recovery of our environment by doing more than just donating money. Recovery will require a long term project that will see habitats regene...rated, rejuvenated and in time providing a place for wildlife to return home. In conjunction with Landcare Australia, Intrepid Care, Greening Australia, and wildlife rescue groups, Habitat Care volunteers will be able to assist in: Re-planting projects in both fire-affected and drought-affected areas Seed collection join groups collecting the native seeds needed to grow replacement regeneration programs. Pest removal help remove pest plant-life that occupies the soil and is destroying the chances of native regrowth. Wildlife feed and water assistance. Nest building many areas need temporary homes for wildlife help build them. Volunteer drivers drivers are needed to transport food, water & medical supplies to wildlife caring groups. Plus more one-off projects as needed. Donating money is great and will be needed as the long-term effects become clearer, but for those who want to do more to feel like you are doing something on the ground helping our environment to recover - join us and help make a difference. 16.01.2022 Have you joined yet? Help us to stop moves being made every day to limit and stop the keeping of animals in captivity, and not just in zoos but by every day people and by our kids. The Animal Justice Party want to introduce bans on breeding all companion animals (incl guinea pigs, reptiles, birds, donkey, and more) - our children will grow up not knowing or having owned a pet - do you really want that as their future? Individuals can join for just $10 and your support helps us to keep the animal rights agenda out of politics and out of your backyard. https://www.animalcareaustralia.org.au/join/

10.01.2022 We’ve been completely blown away by this latest contribution to Rewilding Australia that will assist our campaign to make sure that every Australian knows and l...oves their quolls. The Peppermint Narwhal Creative team have created this incredible infographic as a contribution to Australian rewilding efforts following our recent devastating fires. Their contribution will greatly assist us in spreading our word further and will help us immensely in our quest to restore Australian landscapes. A framed poster version will be available at Rewilding Australia’s 5th Birthday Art Auction tomorrow evening and will also be available on our website soon. See more

04.01.2022 wildlife officers are asking people not to pour water directly down a koala's throat with bottled water as it most certainly can go directly to the lun...g's this will give them pheumonia and will kill them...try not to tip their heads back They need to lap... So if you find one..they drink face down... Iearnt this as a small child and it is common sense when you think about it....same with many animals...they don't drink with their heads tilted back.... Keep up the good Work See more

02.01.2022 There is just over one week to go before the Central Coast Community comes together for a family-friendly event to highlight the importance of preserving our pr...ecious drinking water and koala habitat and bringing the awareness to the negative impacts of the Wallarah 2 coal mine (mining only 5 minutes from Wyong / 20 minutes from Gosford and threatening to pollute the air and drinking water of over 300,000 residents and clearing critical koala habitat). There will be speakers and entertainment as well as an after-party to meet all the like-minded groups. Bring your banners and percussion instruments. 01.01.2022 Feeding wildlife is not usually recommended wildlife rescue organisations, animal protection charities, and state governments are assisting with food drops and distribution, the reality is that we can’t reach every single animal. Some are going to need your help. If you are in a fire-affected location and spot wildlife that are in clear need of assistance, please pay careful attention to these emergency feeding guides and guidelines food suitable for one species may be ha...rmful to others. Always make sure clean water is provided Wildlife should only ever be given food when there is absolutely no other option available to them i.e. after a natural disaster like a bushfire Do not provide food if vegetation is growing in the area Do not over-feed or leave excess food in the area Never place food near roads or in easily accessible locations for cats and dogs to 'prey' on hungry wildlife
