24.01.2022 COVID-19 Update As the COVID-19 crisis worsens daily, I would just like to reassure our clients, as an essential service, we will be making every effort to remain open throughout the weeks and months to come. This, however, depends on our whole team remaining healthy for the duration of this epidemic. We are doing everything we can, in house, to ensure this, but it is also very dependent on everyone attending the Practice doing the right thing too. - Please phone ahead reg...arding everythingeven if youre in the carpark or outside the front door. - Appointments are now essential for all attendancesmornings, afternoons, and weekends. - Please respect us asking you relevant questions regarding your health or risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus. We will work something out if you need our services. - Please observe social distancing guidelines. - Please use hand sanitiser provided. - 1 person to enter per pet unless for support or supervising a child. - No cash...card or electronic transfers only please. Regrettably, being high risk of developing serious illness should I become infected with COVID-19, I will be practising self-isolation as much as possible. I will continue to be available for consults/follow-ups/surgeries upon request, if essential. This means you will see some new faces at the Practice. Already, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Olga Rowlands who has now started to cover some of my shifts. Olga is an experienced, skilful and accomplished veterinarian. I have no hesitation in recommending her to you going forward. Finally, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Chris and each and every one of my wonderful staff for their continued support during these uncertain times. Richard See more

20.01.2022 Hug Your Hound Day National Hug Your Hound Day dedicates a furry hug to our canine companions. All day long, be sure to give your pooch your full attention. Even spend the day much the way your dog spends it. The idea of Hug Your Hound Day is about observing your dog (from his point of view). How to celebrate Hug Your Hound Day... First, give that lovable ball of fur and teeth a hug and tell them how much you love them. Then take some time thinking about how their world looks from down low, surrounded by us lumbering two-leggers with everything built too high for them. Hug Your Hound Day is all about making sure your canines are happy and healthy! See more

20.01.2022 International Cat Day National Cat Day is the purrfect day to give extra attention to your feline friends. Cats make excellent companions. They rarely miss you, but when they do, you sure know it. Awareness days such as this one urge pet lovers to adopt from a local shelter. The day also reminds us that neutering and spaying our furry companions helps reduce the abandoned population.... We’d love to see your gorgeous feline companions and how they’re celebrating their national day. Here are a few of our cats and some of the kittens we’ve adopted out over the years.

14.01.2022 COVID UPDATE We would firstly like to thank everyone for being so kind and accepting the changes weve had to make during this time. We had relaxed a little lately by allowing more people into the waiting room but with the positive cases in such close proximity to the clinic weve had to reinstate some of them. We are still only running by appointment, we will be asking screening questions before making the appointment if you are showing any symptoms or have been to any of ...the below locations well assess whether the appointment is urgent or not. If its not well book you an appointment in 14 days time, if it is urgent well make the appointment but ask you remain in your car at all times. A nurse will come out and collect your sick pet, the vet will then talk to you over the phone regarding treatment, then well bring your pet back out to you and collect payment. If you are healthy and havent been to any of the hot spots please call us to inform us of your arrival for your appointment and well come and collect you when the vet is ready to see you and your pet. We are asking no more than one person enters the consultation room with the vet (special exceptions for euthanasias), and no more than two people in the waiting room at any one time. Thank you for your understanding and patience in helping us prevent further spreading of this disease. These are the current locations of positive cases: St Marys Astley Medical Centre, Mt Druitt Westfileds, Albion Park: C1 Speed Indoor Karting and McDonalds, Belfield: Mancinis, Belmore: Canterbury Leagues Club, Bowral: Woolworths, Campbelltown: Bavarian Macarthur & Macarthur Tavern & West Leagues Club, Narrellen Town Centre, Parramatta: Milky Lane, Wetherill Park: Stockland Mall, Brighton Le Sands: Hurricanes Grill, Casula: Kmart (Casula Mall), Chippendale: Holy Duck! 13.01.2022 Our beautiful Filipa who was adopted back in 2018 by one of our amazing clients has just turned 2! Our little lady came to us at 8 weeks old with a badly fractured leg. Her only option was amputation. We knew she would need an extra special family, that would give her the extra time and support she needed as she grew. Thats exactly what she has with her mum Lauren. Dont worry about this little tripod though she gets around just as well if not better then a cat with 4 legs. Happy Birthday gorgeous girl, I know your mum wouldve spoiled you.

12.01.2022 Anzac Day On this day of remembrance we like to not only take time to think about and pay respect to the all the soldiers but also all the animals that worked so hard and lost their lives. During the war, animals were used by warring armies because of their unique ability to undertake tasks that were difficult or impossible for humans. Over challenging terrain, they carried messages and transported equipment, people and supplies. They also helped to find people and save liv...es. Unfortunately, many animals suffered and died as a result of the war. Lest we forget

08.01.2022 Now that the weather is warming up we just wanted to put out a friendly reminder that snakes are out and about. With the warmer weather snakes spring into action, moving onto greener pastures where food, mates or a nice warm place to rest will often find them in close contact with humans. Some things you can do to make your house and property less attractive to snakes. - Remove any debris or woodpiles, cut back long grass and shrubbery, remove leaf litter and block any holes... around the outside of your house that may look like a safe spot to hide. - Bird aviaries and chook pens can be very attractive to snakes. Keep your enclosure secure, clean and free of rodents. If you do see a snake on your property keep all pets and people inside away from it and call a professional to remove it from your property. Sean and Freya from Australian Snake Catchers are fantastic at what they do. If in the unfortunate event your pet is bitten get them to the nearest vet clinic immediately for urgent treatment.

08.01.2022 Unfortunately a deceased young adult undesexed male Jack Russell was handed into us today. 08.01.2022 Happy National Dog Day!!! National Dog Day honours family dogs and dogs that work selflessly to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day - protecting our families and homes, for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for the disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and helping to locate and rescue victims of accidents and tragedy. National Dog Day celebrates all breeds, mixed and purebre...ds. Wed love to see your beautiful dogs, here are a few of ours.

Its time this sweet little man finds his family too. Pacey - male, DSH, Tabby & White, DOB 3/4/2020, 991003000303451 Pacey has come out of his shell massively since his siblings were adopted. He ...wants to smooch, cuddle and get pats whenever he sees you. Our kittens come with the following included in their adoption fee: - up to date vaccinations (till point of adoption) - up to date worming and flea treatments (till point of adoption) - microchipping - desexed or desexing voucher (depending on age at time of adoption) - goodie bag - with sample of food, information brochures, vaccination card). If you would like to meet Pacey please call us on (02)96233970 to organise a time to meet him.

05.01.2022 ANZAC DAY - Lest We Forget While April 25 is a day of national remembrance for Australians and New Zealanders who served and gave their lives in times of conflict, peacekeeping operations and war, there’s a lesser known story we don’t always tell on ANZAC Day. That of the service animals who stood alongside our men and women many of whom never made it home.... More than 16 million animals served during the First World War, including cats, dogs, horses, birds, camels and mules. They were mascots, provided comfort, carried messages, transported wounded soldiers to safety, and were instrumental in moving large quantities of ammunition, food and water, and medical supplies. Today, let's remember that service comes in many different forms. Images from the Australian War Memorial immortalise the loyalty and sacrifice of these animals. These are just a tiny glimpse into the way they supported their battalions.

05.01.2022 This weekend is set to be a scorcher. Please remember to keep your pets as cool and comfortable as possible. Putting out more water for them, a shallow paddling pool, cooling mats, air conditioning (if possible) are all great ways to help your pets beat the heat. Heat stroke can affect any animal but there are those that are more susceptible: elderly pets, short nosed pets (Pugs, Persians etc), hyperactive dogs, those that are overweight, those with heart conditions. Sign...s of heat stroke to look out for are: Panting, Hypersalivation (drooling), Warm to touch, Red mucous membranes of mouth, Rapid heart rate, Dry nose, Quiet or poorly responsive, may lay down and refuse or be unable to rise, Vomiting, Blood from mouth or in stool, Seizures, Muscle tremors, Ataxia (staggering). If left untreated they can slip into a coma and pass away. If you notice any of these signs please do not use cold or icy water to try and cool them down as this can shock the system and cause more issues. If you notice any of these signs call your nearest vet immediately, whilst on the phone to the vet you can place damp towels using tepid water over your pet. Place your pet in your car with the damp towels on them and head straight to your nearest vet. Also with these extreme temperatures snakes will be more abundant. So keeping your yard free of any clutter, nicely mowed down will eliminate hiding places for them on your property. If you do see snakes on your property or near your property call a snake catcher to come and remove them (Australian Snake Catchers are fantastic). Do not risk trying to approach a snake yourself they’re fast and will strike if they feel threatened. If in the unfortunate event your pet is bitten by a snake, keep your pet as still and calm as possible and take them straight to your nearest vet for urgent treatment.
