Turn your trash until someone else's treasure by donating your unwanted goods to Ingham Salvation Army Family Store or Herbert River Men's Shed... 12.01.2022 Why is Council bin tagging? The Hinchinbrook Shire region currently faces major issues associated with the contamination rates of our household recycling bins. ...This issue is causing loads of recycling being rejected at the Material Recovery Facility in Townsville which are being returned and disposed of at the Warrens Hill landfill. Bin Tagging is a proven successful strategy to reduce contamination in recycling within other local government areas by providing on-the-spot feedback about the contents of the recycling bin. Delivery of the program in South Australia and Western Australia has reported up to a 48% decrease in contamination. TIP: Avoid contamination of your recycling by only placing the following items in your yellow lid bin glass bottles and jars, hard plastic containers, paper and cardboard, steel and aluminium cans and jars. Let’s not waste our efforts, keep your recycling contamination free to keep it coming ‘round. #bintagging #recycleright #lesstolandfill #waronwasteau #dontletagoodthinggotowaste #dontwastehinchinbrook

09.01.2022 Note that Council has commenced the Bin Tagging Education Program across household recycling bins within the Hinchinbrook Shire. As a result, waste truck routes... may be slightly altered and your bins may be collected at an altered time of the day to allow for tagging to occur. All bins will still be serviced on their allocated day provided that they are placed out on the kerbside in time. TIP: To ensure that you don’t miss collection day, all bins are to be placed on the kerb by 6am on your collection day. Missed services due to not having bin out by 6am will not be rectified. Let’s not waste our efforts, keep your recycling contamination free to keep it coming ‘round. #bintagging #recycleright #lesstolandfill #waronwasteau #dontletagoodthinggotowaste #dontwastehinchinbrook
