19.01.2022 Mandandanji Murdys with you mate.

14.01.2022 Having one for ya Laurie. Thanks for the laughs, jokes, tordoning and the card games. What a way we used to wake up mate.

13.01.2022 We remember the pain, loss and injustice, as well as the strength and resilience. Sadly, the removal of Aboriginal children from their families is not only a part of our history, but something that is still going on today. #SorryDay

02.01.2022 Haunting images of the sun and skyscape resembling the Aboriginal flag as a consequence of the fires Photo of the right was taken by Rose Fletcher and the o...nly thing I did was add the flag and the image she took and put them together like this Make of this what you will #hetohu To be very clear this is the message from Rose who captured this moment in time yes she took the photo ***************************** Not my photo, a message that was simply passed in front of me, because I had the means to share it. I relinquish all claim to it, please share it. I'm overwhelmed by the response, and thankful to every person who has passed it on to others. When this happened, I was feeling hopeless, all the fires, and there between the sunrise and me, a giant pall of smoke over the Southern Ocean - and then that few seconds I could capture. And then the magnificent response from ordinary people Rose Fletcher

01.01.2022 I've seen the video. Here's my thoughts: . First of all, in relation to the 'fair skin' BS, over the past 230 or so years, Aboriginal and European people have p...roduced children together. This tends to happen in any multi-cultural human population which means some Aboriginal people will have fair skin. But Aboriginal identity is a matter of family connection and cultural identity, not skin color. . Secondly, Aboriginal people have been subjected to 230 years of people trying to erase them and their culture from existence. In the early days, this was done using legislation. Now it is done by people like Rob Vigors and Karen Ridge who can tolerate Aboriginality if it’s expressed in the form of art that can be bought by privileged wealthy people like them, but get VERY angry if it’s expressed in the form of a flag that represents Aboriginal pride and power - in their upper middle class neighborhood. . The anger comes from RACISM; the snide, snobbish view that certain races are lesser than others. People like Rob and Karen want Aboriginal people to ‘stay in their lane’, because a big part of their self-esteem relies on being ‘superior’ to others. . Why else would they be so feverishly triggered by a f*cking flag? . And this is not just anyone screaming at the Aboriginal flag, its two privileged, wealthy, educated business leaders. This makes me worry about how deep and widespread this problem may be. . That’s why I stopped mid-sentence in an interview today. What I intended to say was that although Rob and Karen’s rant was despicable, it was fortunately ‘rare’. But as soon as the words came out of my mouth, I knew I had to retract them because it hit me that I was in no way qualified to make that assessment. Of course it’s rare for me to hear that kind of bile, because I’m not Aboriginal. . Perhaps the only good to come out of this shameful incident will be that it will serve as a catalyst for a conversation about the depth of racism in our community and the adequacy of current measures to address it. Tomorrow I will be contacting the Chair and Deputy Chair of the First People of the Millewa Mallee to start this conversation, and on the front gate of our office, we will be hanging the Aboriginal flag. . To the Aboriginal community, my team and I stand with you, and so do thousands of others across our electorate. . Yours in solidarity, AC. See more
