25.01.2022 This woman right here. An inspiration to many & a gentle, beautiful soul. It was a pleasure to create the ‘icing on the cake’ to @josjourney2019 incredible adventure. . . The first day I met Jo on the day she made her pledge, her forehead matched her bright red top. She was incredibly sunburned & my skills were certainly put to the test. With the use of the magical calming range of products from @dermalogicaaus I was able to calm the redness down (this is a must-have in my ki...t). . . Then a year later this lady walks in!! We popped a @myperfectcosmeticscompany ‘My Perfect Facial’ on to tighten & rejuvenate the skin. Magical hair skills of @rhianeschroder and @bonnie.hair.mua transformed Jo’s hair with @nakhair colour & styling products. Then @lindawest.makeup.hair created Jo’s stunning glamorous makeup using @helendowsleylashes . . 19.01.2022 Makeup artists - when you purchase a product for your kit, where & how do you test it? We usually test for quality, texture, pigment & colour. We test on our hand - because that is handy it’s also quick & easy in-store. How many of us stop there & add it to our kit? I know I do, with many things. ... Go a few steps further & have first hand knowledge & confidence to guarantee your work. Working in television or with brides - where longevity of our work is so important - we need to guarantee our makeup. I’m going to share an experience where I *may* have taken things a bit far, but I was on a roll & couldn’t help myself. So if you promise to leave your judgement at the door, continue reading While head of hair & makeup for @thistimenextyear, I bought some products I hadn’t tried before but I had very high hopes. Like a lot of makeup artists, I very rarely wear makeup, however I went all out with very fancypants eye makeup, a full base & a bright lip. Whoa! That was a LOT on me! After working a 16hr day, except for a lip touch up, it hadn’t budged. Now, my commitment to testing products means wearing it for at least a 24hrs, so off to bed I went. In the morning I woke up like one of the ladies from The Bold & The Beautiful with immaculately applied makeup (can’t say the same for my hair because - curls) I re-applied my lippy & then went about working another 16hr day. And I still looked like an absolute rockstar. Hopefully, those of you who have upheld your promise not to judge & are still reading, are committed to this promise. Because it wasn’t until the FOURTH morning I decided I really should remove it all & give my poor face & eyes a rest. The outcome? I can now very confidently say to my brides & clients that their makeup will last so well that it is likely to still be there the next day.
