23.01.2022 With Mandogalup (and many other) fire brigades still working at the Spectacles Incident, here is a little refresher on staying up to date with fires. The best and most accurate source of information on fires is https://emergency.wa.gov.au. This information is also available on the DFES Facebook, DFES Twitter and ABC Radio. You can also call DFES emergency information line on 13 3337. There are 3x alert levels... (excuse the hearts.. they are the only colour coded emojis!)... Advice - A fire has started and although there is no immediate danger, you should stay up to date. Watch and Act - There is a possible threat to lives and homes. Conditions are changing. You need to leave the area or prepare to actively defend your home. Emergency Warning - You are in danger as your area will be impacted by fire. You need to take immediate action to survive. Do NOT wait for a SMS or call from DFES before you decide to take action. Have a 5 minute fire chat with your family. Do not wait until a fire is approaching to plan how you will survive. https://firechat.wa.gov.au

11.01.2022 This past summer is one that most Australians will not forget. The images of devastation to our landscape, homes and communities will stay with us for years to ...come. So too will the lives lost, including those from our own firefighting community. Although today we mark International Firefighters' Day very differently to recent years, the significance of this day is no less than those where we gathered to pay our respects. We honour those fallen, both through the years in Western Australia and more recently, the tragic losses felt by our brothers and sisters in the Eastern States.

11.01.2022 A combination of the strong winds, high temperatures and dry conditions that Bureau of Meteorology has predicted for this weekend mean that we all need to prepa...re for the possibility of significant bushfires. As we've seen from the bushfires in our eastern States, these fires can escalate rapidly and have devastating effects on the community. We are urging the community to take some simple steps prepare for these extreme fire conditions: Have a five-minute Fire Chat with your family about what you will do if a bushfire threatens your area. www.dfes.wa.gov.au/firechat Be aware of your surroundings and act immediately if you see smoke or flames. Do not wait for a text message or a knock at your door. Expect extreme to catastrophic Fire Danger Ratings and anticipate many Total Fire Bans. Firefighters are ready to respond, but you and your family's safety is ultimately your own responsibility.
