15.01.2022 Magnify is a reminder that death waits for us all, asking the question, ‘Has it been a lifetime well lived?’ All God’s creation honours Him by being obedient to its created purpose. No galaxy or star, no animal or plant lives without boldly professing the majesty of God. God requires no less obedience of us. We are to do justice. We are to love mercy. And when we walk humbly with Him in complete dependence, He is well pleased. @FionaEvans, 2020 Mandorla Finalist

13.01.2022 2020 FINALIST @denisepepperart reflects on the creative process of her exhibition piece titled ‘Words Have Power‘. I read and re-read the passage [Micah 6:8]. I finally considered 3 words that I took from the passage. HUMBLE/JUSTICE/KINDESS. These became my inspiration. These words have strong symbolism and I wanted to project and create art work that the viewer would engage and consider the words as I see them. Overall, I hope people see a message relating to Peace within o...ur world. I then considered how I would create a work both layered and thought provoking but not necessarily mysterious. The three birds represent the three words. View Denise’s works in the flesh at the Mandorla Art Award, 20 March - 10 April 2021, @StalaContemporary Art West Perth. #mandorlaartaward #australianartist #australianartprize #artprizes #australianart #religiousart #religiousartprize #christianart #christianartprize #stjohnofgodhealthcare #leewinestatecharitablefoundation #stjosephssubiaco #unitingchurchaustralia #unitingchurchWA #catholicarchdiocesePerth #stmarycathedral #friarsservantsmaryaustralia

12.01.2022 A sneak peak at finalist Britt Mikkelson’s finalist entry ‘8200 Souls’. My work is fabricated using a classic Onkaparinga blanket. I spent around 3 months cutting 8200 individual holes in the blanket. Each hole represents just one of the many unfortunate people who find themselves sleeping rough every night on Australian streets. Powerful art we can’t wait to view for ourselves! ... #artprize #mandorlaartaward #christianartprize #australianartists

10.01.2022 Another one of our incredible artist finalists for the 2020 Exhibition is @berichenderson (NSW). Here’s a sneak peak of his work titled ‘The Message’. My art explores the deeper connections between mankind and the natural world. I merge figurative and abstract elements and my art juxtaposes scientific and spiritual themes. #mandorlaartaward #australianartist #australianartprize #artprizes #australianart #religiousart #religiousartprize #christianart #christianartprize #stjohnofgodhealthcare #leewinestatecharitablefoundation #stjosephssubiaco #unitingchurchaustralia #unitingchurchWA #catholicarchdiocesePerth #stmarycathedral #friarsservantsmaryaustralia

09.01.2022 PAST WINNER: St John of God Health Care Prize Winner $25,000 acquisitive Castledine & Castledine God is in the House Crochet cotton, glass and ceramic found objects... The judge’s commented that this is a beautifully crafted piece that takes ordinary found objects and through the artistic process turns them into the sacred. The humble materials of glass, beads and thread have been made into something much more significant. The feminine craft of the work speaks to the human desire to create architectural forms. The forms are clearly recognizable as ecclesiastical but from a range of different faiths.

09.01.2022 This Pawn talks of justice, love, and kindness without action so his words remain meaningless. Only through Doing of justice, love and kindness will the path to Kingdom reveal itself. - Tevita Havea, Artist, QLD

04.01.2022 We hear from Olga Cironis about her finalist artwork! Holding is a work made over a year, from hours of stitching human hair into a crown based on that of the of Jesus crown of thorns. Hair holds human DNA and symbolically our desires and experiences. This crown of human hair represents the lightness of life, joy of connection and beauty of love. Referencing Micah 6:8 it holds justice and love of kindness to each other and our natural environment. The hair has been donated from people from around the world who wished to share their story and desire for unity. The stitching work was process driven and meditative with the end result instinctually driven. This crown HOLDING carries our human desire to survive and love freely. See the work in person at STALA Contemporary Art in 2021 from March 20- April 10.
