24.01.2022 Water Pashmina are polished to resemble water and have a beautiful sheen. They are often reversible having two colours and shimmer in the light. They are lightweight and ideal as a wrap and look good with anything. Price ~ $40.00 Reduced to $26.00

23.01.2022 The Experience of Buying Beautiful Woollen Rugs in India. When I was in Delhi I sourced 6 rugs, 5 of which had the same design because I fell in love with it. I thought it was stunning and the colours gorgeous. They were natural dyes of indigo and the red... I forget its source. They are pure wool. I am not so keen on the silk rugs. One of my rugs was polished, which created a sheen and changed the depth of colour depending on which way round it was held. Another one had the ...indigo and red reversed in the placement. And some had natural undyed rather long fringes. I just loved them. I believe they are Afghani design and made by Kashmiris. Of course to buy anything was a marathon. It could not be rushed. First I had to sit down and have tea. Because all the rugs were made and sold by Kashmiris, the tea was kahwah, green tea with spices. I grew to love that too. In one shop I was assisted by a man called Kahn. He was startlingly good at his job. In fact, I realised after going through the process several times in different shops, there was a similar method that they used to sell their wares. I don't know if it was only for foreigners, but boy they were good. . Kahn had helpers who bought out the rugs that he thought I might like. He had a foolproof method of working out if I was interested or not. He sat on the floor a little in front and he would turn and look at me each time a new rug was unfurled by the boy. His look was no more than a glance, one second, occasionally two. Then he would turn back to the boy and tell him to either remove the rug or put it to one side. He never got it wrong with what I was feeling. Sometimes it was not even a strong feeling. I might just be thinking, I don't think so and Kahn picked it up. I think he even knew before I did. I am sure I was not sitting there pulling faces. However Kahn learned to read people, it was exceedingly subtle.. I was most impressed. And when he found rugs that I was obviously interested in, we had to barter. That could not be rushed either. Once I tried to subvert the process in another shop and the guy had me feeling as though I had taken the food out of his mouth. The whole process took some hours. It was an art form. 03.01.2022 There is a size difference between a Shawl and a Stole. A shawl is wider and therefore longer on the body. A stole is shorter in width and therefore shorter on the body. Most stoles can be worn as a scarf because there is less bulk. Most of my "Pashmina Shawls" are in fact stole size and can be worn (as opposed to warn) as either a wrap or a scarf.

02.01.2022 PASHMINA describes both the object ~ the fabric we wrap around ourselves, and also the particular soft and warm wool that comes from the Himalayan mountain goats in winter. That is why we can have viscose pashminas. It is describing the shawl itself. Then we have the lightweight, soft and warm pashmina wool Pashminas. They are a tad more expensive, and a tad more desirable. People like to display how a true pashmina can pass through a wedding ring. It is a bit of a party trick. Yet it does show the fineness of the wool.
