25.01.2022 Thanks for the great response on the last post! Seemed to be a recurring theme to the comments - remembrance and fondness for traditions! So, I thought we'd have our own little bonfire night on here, to try and invoke that sense of community that really is the essence of such events. Sorry it's a day late, but happy bonfire night :-)

13.01.2022 Let's talk about the beat generation. Home to authors who changed not only the literary scene post WW2, but also lead the front that ultimately helped to liberalise publishing in the US. Kerouac himself coined the name, hoping it would create the vibe of an underground, anti-conformity youth movement. Have you read any work of these infamous authors? What did you think of them?

08.01.2022 Now ladies and gentleman, I bring to you an interesting topic. Throughout history we have seen many revolutions and acts of rebellion in the form of physical action and riveting speeches. However, the digital age has brought with it a new method of defiance - hacktivism. Here we are presented with the age old question - what is the moral stance on using illegal activities to achieve positive outcomes? Many hacktivists fight for the right for freedom of information and speech,... and human rights, however they achieve this by illegally hacking into computer networks. What is your opinion on the matter? Feel you want to learn more before taking a standpoint? Here's a quick website to give you the low down: http://www.computerweekly.com/opini/Hacktivism-Good-or-Evil If you want to explore the topic further, check out this book: 'Hacker, Hoaxer, Whistleblower, Spy: The Many Faces of Anonymous' (available from the library). Although possibly not the best written piece of prose, the book covers a unique and endlessly intriguing topic!

05.01.2022 Les Miserables - one of the most well known classics, that has spawned countless movie adaptations. So well written, so full of important themes, so....long?
