16.01.2022 The Department of Communities is leading the development of a new WA Housing Strategy 2020-2030. The strategy will set the direction for the next 10 years, creating a more sustainable and responsive housing system for WA. The strategy is a call to action for all sectors to work together to improve housing choices and pathways. It will consider how to improve access to suitable and affordable homes and respond to current and future need. The strategy will be supported by three... implementation plans: an affordable housing implementation plan, a remote and regional implementation plan and a social housing framework. Housing is a key driver of social and economic well-being for households, communities and our State. The strategy will build on the foundations of the Affordable Housing Strategy 2010-20: Opening Doors to Affordable Housing and the 2017 Action Plan, and evolve our approach to housing and service delivery. https://www.communities.wa.gov.au//wa-housing-strategy-20/ #Kommuniti #KommunitiKauses

11.01.2022 A great initiative for the City of Mandurah Mandurah mayor Rhys Williams said he was "glad" the federal government chose Mandurah for the project and was excited to see it get underway. "Given there are a lot of people that have chosen to call Mandurah home in their retirement, what a great way to make sure that our general community benefits from their skills and wisdom,"... "[The project] matches them with community organisations that are desperately looking for volunteers and, at the same time, provides them with a renewed sense of purpose. "The isolation of older people is a really big concern and one of the things I love about the Wayfairer project is that it tackles that head-on. We've got to make the most of having this because I think it's going to be one of those things that will really make it's mark and have an impact - it's just perfect for Mandurah. 08.01.2022 Is this acceptable to You? The gap in the quality of health between the disadvantaged in Australia and those more affluent is continuing to widen, new research has found. While the number of Australians overweight and obese is the highest on record, the rates of obesity, smoking, asthma, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and psychological distress are worst amongst the disadvantaged.... The poor can also expect to die younger. This is happening in Australia, Our First World Country? We need to Get Involved with organisations and groups that are focused on rebuilding fair and ecologically sound economic models from the ground up. Are you willing to lead the discussion and implement the Next Steps in your Kommuniti within the City of Mandurah Local Government Authority? Are you a Leader that can coordinate meetups, workshops, and events with changemakers in all of the City of Mandurah Suburbs at least once a month around the 8 Basic Principles of Building Community Wealth? If so, you could soon be invited to become an Ambassador for Kommuniti Changemakers, one of over 500 planned for Australia. 03.01.2022 Today marked the launch of the inaugural Youth Advisory Board (YAB) for Communities@Work. The board had its first meeting to set the direction for the year ahea...d and discuss the organisational strategy. At Communities@Work, we recognise the need for the younger demographic of the organisation to provide input into our strategic direction. Therefore, the YAB has been formed to provide insights to the executive board about youth issues both within Communities@Work and in the broader community; develop business models for new projects and initiatives, and add diversity to our governance. The three major areas of interest for the first year for the board are Digital Transformation, Talent Retention and Sustainability. The YAB comprises 12 young employees (age 18-28) from Communities@Work, and had a fantastic kick-off today with our Enterprise Development Manager, Ross McKay facilitating with CEO, Lee Maiden.
