25.01.2022 Manjimup Bush Magic

24.01.2022 Treating manflu this week. Anyone else starting to drop like flies in the lead up to Christmas? I have a couple of appointments left this week if you need last minute support. DM me

23.01.2022 And. We. Did. It! 7 weeks of summer school holidays. Now listen, I'll be honest. I'm a crying school parent. I never thought I would be, but it's involuntary and isn't about sadness. ... It's about the overwhelming reality that my children are achieving incredible independence each year. Another piece of honesty: This week of lockdown extending the school hols has been rough. As a lot of you know, I've been a fifo wife for 15 years. I'm proud of that and have never had a problem with 'holding the fort'. But being a fifo mumma who's also self employed, now that's a big load. And so last Monday - 1st Feb - was supposed to be the first day that all 3 of our children began full time school. The start of new beginnings in another stage of the reclaiming yourself that happens after you become a mother. The first reclaim comes when you return to work in whatever capacity or form after having kids. And then this next stage arrives. You leave the school with empty carseats and go home quietly. We may have had to wait an extra week and that week may have been pretty rough on the spirit, but we're here, they're there and we all made it. And I'm really proud of all of us. Happy first day of school everyone! See more

22.01.2022 When the power outtage is literally just your street. And its all day. Lucky we don't need power for doing acupuncture hey...

22.01.2022 #7daysofbizlove Day 3 What I LOVE most about what I do is the change I get to create and the support I get to provide.... I pride myself on connection and rapport with anyone who sits down in front of me. It's how I tick. I want continuity of care for You. The whole point is that You feel heard and I can help to be the difference in Your health concerns. I freaking LOVE Chinese Medicine and how it understands the bodys' functions and I get immense satisfaction out of creating that understanding for my patients.

22.01.2022 Come. Sit down. Debrief, brain dump, life dump, verbal diarrhoea. Get it all out. I am HERE and I will LISTEN to your concerns and when you've shared where you are on your health journey, I will help piece it all together so that it makes sense.... It's why I allow one WHOLE hour with you on your first appointment. So that we have the TIME. My goal is to address the reason you've come to my clinic and answer your questions, if I can. Because that's my JOB. Feeling heard, understood and having your needs met (where possible) shouldn't be the exception in health care, it should be the rule.

22.01.2022 Structure is important, but so is permission to go with the flow. Meal planning is great, but a festive cheeseboard maybe just what's on for dinner. Regular training is a way of life, but turning off the alarm and allowing your body to sleep til you wake is extremely important for cortisol levels. A strict principle around diet will yield results, but if It's not sustainable, you will come unstuck. ... And here in lays the point; maintain the principles that work for you 80% of the time and allow the 'play/sweetness of life' 20%. And don't apologise for that, or beat yourself for that, or chastise your self or over train/over diet as some kind self punishment. You've earnt the right to play. It's part of being human!! So if you're dairy intolerant and you wanna eat a cube of cheese off the grazing board om Christmas Day and you know you're gonna pay for it the next day, but it was worth it to enjoy the beautiful Gruyere, then you just eat the damn cheese ok.. I'm not trying to be an enabler of bad habits, rather a permission to stray from the wired tight constraints that we seem to put ourselves under. Turn off the alarm.

20.01.2022 #7daysofbizlove Day 5 This week marked the completion of my very first course facilitation. To say I've felt a natural pull to this area of our profession is to say that I feel a deep sense of obligation to give back. ... It's time. And there is great NEED in our Chinese Medicine family that our new generation of incredible practitioners feel heard and feel supported. I would LOVE to see my course reach many more people and by the end of the year I hope to have built a framework that does support them as they progress from new graduates to practitioners. I would LOVE to see that aspect of my practitioner life transcend and I can't wait to see how this Ox-worthy year unfolds with all of this on the table in front of me. See more

20.01.2022 2020 Reflections As we see out the biggest year in our lifetime, the 2 words that come to mind for me the most may surprise you because they're not focusing on the stress, grief or trauma of the year. My 2 words are: Gratitude and... Growth. When the world stopped, I was blessed to live in WA and so didn't have to close my clinic. The way we practice has changed forever, but I had enormous levels of gratitude for being able to stay open and continue to provide a service of support for my amazing patients. For a few months, I stayed open AND we home schooled. I have so much gratitude for the work packs that our school sent home for us at insane short notice. We read, wrote stories, became a family with ducks, made worm farms and planted vegetables, learnt about the letter 'P' and got to witness the growth in our children's knowledge and education. An insight we don't usually have the pleasure of witnessing. In a year full of uncertainty, plans that were made, had to be cancelled or postponed. And then other things just managed to find a way. The way forward thanks to technology has grown and changed the way we do things, meet and work. I am thankful for connections made and skills developed that I never imagined would be possible this year. I grew professionally - writing not 1 but 2 presentations to present to my professional peers via online conferences. My clinic miraculously grew in the wake of Covid to the point of me now operating a multibed practice with 2 rooms, adopting online bookings (shock horror, I know!) Taking instagram for business seriously, connecting to the incredible fountain of knowledge of Perth Women in Business..growth personally and professionally on so many levels. I am so motivated by all of this that I'm launching my first mentorship program for New Grad Acupuncturists starting in January and I cannot wait to get started. To say I have gratitude for this level of growth this year is a wild understatement. I just can't take stock of it enough. The return of the sense community I feel, the connections I have made and the support as a result is nothing short of blessed. So whilst, yes, we are saying goodbye, I wave with gratitude See more

19.01.2022 What should I wear to my acupuncture appointment? Well here's the thing - I'm pretty clever at being able to access points all over your body to treat your condition- it's the great thing about being an acupuncturist! We have your whole body and all your meridians/channels to work from.... We don't simply put a needle where it hurts. I mean, we do sometimes, but that's not usually enough. So whilst your skinny jeans might be suitable for the weather, I can TECHNICALLY still work around them ie, use points on your feet or ankles, it is just much easier for ME to do my job, if your clothes are loose so that I can roll them up, down or hitch them to the side so that I can get to where I need to. Rather than you having to take everything off. I mean, if we need to remove clothes, it's no big deal buuuut, if we dont have to, it's much faster and less fussing which means you're on and off the bench more efficiently :)

13.01.2022 Stop waiting until you have arrived at whatever standard it is that you've made up in your head that must be achieved before you can do the thing -whatever the thing is. And start respecting the fact that it's a transformational growth process of learning and failing as you go along.. Let go of the 'as soon as I've done this I can...'... 'As soon as' is an expectation that says I can't do this next thing until I've reached THAT, but what if it's more about living in the now and relishing humbly in the process? What if it's just life? 12.01.2022 Gong Xi Fa Cai! For the year of the Yin White Metal Ox The Ox is the second out of the twelve zodiac signs: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. The Year of the Metal Ox comes right after the Year of the Metal Rat (2020) and before the Year of the Water Tiger (2022)... Since this is a Metal year, for the second successive year, the color of 2021 is white. In the Chinese Zodiac, the Ox is very hardworking and methodical. 2021 is going to be a year when work will get rewarded, and those zodiac signs who are lucky in terms of money this year will be the ones that will make a considerable effort. The Yin energy, specific to the Chinese zodiac sign of Ox, will be quite poignant. This is going to be a year when we will fully feel the weight of our responsibilities, a year when it is necessary to double our efforts to accomplish anything at all. The year of the Metal Ox brings career advancement, success in business, prosperity, and wellness for all zodiac signs. The Ox year of 2021 is under the influence of the metal element, just like the Year of the Rat 2020 and is a year that predicts new career opportunities, so don’t let anxiety or negative thinking affect you. Those who are born under the Ox sign are independent and strong people, but very stubborn. The Metal Ox year is also great for making order in family life. After all, if the family life is peaceful, everything gets solved! Thus, 2021 is a year when all the problems get solved with discipline. A lot of discipline! Obviously, with an extra effort from us in organizing our time. All the marriages started in the Metal Ox year are durable and happy. A bit of advice from the love astrologer: learn to be more romantic, more involved in the relationship with your partner, more attentive to his/her needs, and a bit more tender! A simple gesture or a single beautiful word can make miracles! www.thechinesezodiac.org The years of the Ox in the Chinese Horoscope are: 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, and 2021.

08.01.2022 It's Breathe out time... The day in the week where there's finally nothing on, nothing that absolutely needs to be done, kids are amusing themselves around the campsite and we can aaaallll just sit and breathe out... I hope you're finding the space for a 'breathe out' day this week...

07.01.2022 PREVENTION. IS. ALWAYS. BETTER. THAN.... CURE. In empirical chinese times, folk would say that if you got sick, you should sack your Dr, because it was their job to keep you well. The world we live in now, we're conditioned to only act on our health when it tells us to, through symptom and signs. But what if we went back to the way of our ancestors? What if we focussed on cultivating health and wellness, rather than resolving conditions? What if you worked on a maintenance frequency of treatment, rather than a treatment plan to 'fix' a health condition? How much less would you have to do? How much cheaper it would be in the long run? How much kinder would that be on your mental well-being? What if we went back to the ways of our ancestors?

06.01.2022 POSITION. IS. CRUCIAL. how we rest with our acupuncture is really important. Particularly for patients with pain. Face down Face up... Side lying Or even what I affectionately like to refer to as 'Hospital Bed' where they're propped up. Never just assume I'm going to expect you to lay a certain way. If you have a preference, please tell me. This is your treatment, your service. I want you to be comfortable. I also dont want your position to make your condition worse, hence the reason that different positions are better for different issues. I'm also a massive fan of using 'chocks'. A bit like you use to stop a trailer from rolling. I want you to feel contained and held pm the bench, because that's when you truly relax. What's your fave?

05.01.2022 It's time to look up. With intention. With motivation. With clarity.... Look up to that sky and know what you want. Know HOW you want to live and what your terms are. Know your terms and make choices that enable that work life balance to come at the beginning. It's 2021. Do it the way you want to.

05.01.2022 Fairly accurate state of affairs. Happy full of cheese week. May your snacks continue to be epic until we work out what day it is or where we are supposed to be!

04.01.2022 FAQ video series Question 1: Am I going to make you lay on a bed of nails? The answer is quite simply: NO.

04.01.2022 All set up for the last Saturday of the year.

03.01.2022 #7daysofbizlove Day 1 How do I LOVE to start my week? Well, with my new found Mondays and a brand new year of intention, how did I CHOOSE to start the week? The first thing I did when I got home from school drop off was sat down with a hot coffee and didn't talk for ONE WHOLE HOUR.... And then I felt clear and reset and decided that this Monday would be a mumma bake meal prep Monday. So many m's! And nothing makes me happier than the feeling of being organised and ready for the big days ahead. Knowing that while I'm immersed in my clinic for the next 3 days and arriving home after the kids bedtimes, that our family's bellies are all taken care of in my absence. That's how I'm starting my week. What did I make? School lunches for the week Chia yoghurt puddings for my work energy days Pumpkin & chickpea coconut Korma Maple Beans and; Sweet potato & Spinach Dahl, darl May the monday force of organised order be with you!

02.01.2022 #7daysofbizlove Day 4 My patients are the best and I LOVE working with them. I love them because they're showing up for their health.... They're using Chinese Medicine to support themselves. They're open to the notion that multimodality approach is the key to health. No ONE thing is enough, it's a combination of all of the things we do that amount to great health and wellness. I love that I don't have to convince my patients of anything because they're already there. They're in the mindset of wanting change or maintaining what we've built and that is so rewarding. I love my patients because they value Chinese Medicine and what it can offer them. I love my patients because they provide me with so much of the human experience. I am so lucky to see health and family and function in my day and to be constantly learning and developing from them. Love & Gratitude always for my patients. See more
