25.01.2022 At a time when the whole world is facing a crisis, today we are pausing to remember all those who have served, and are currently serving, in our armed forces. T...he YMCA was proud to play a small but important role supporting our ANZAC men and women during WW1, providing our diggers recreation opportunities, postal services, and home comforts. Our social centres were initially setup in military camps in Australia, before being stationed at every camp in every country where our troops served. We were privileged to bring them arts and crafts, games, sports, film screenings, and everything in between. Serving those who serve is a great honour, and it is important we remember the great sacrifice they made. Please take a moment today to reflect and pay tribute to the extraordinary people who risked everything to give us everything. Lest we forget.

22.01.2022 Councillors Grant Presented to Mango Hill by Deputy Mayor Denise Sims and Councillor Jodie Shipway It was appropriate that our Friday Tennis Players were on han...d to witness the official presentation of a $29,200 Grant to the Mango Hill Progress Association which will fund an upgrade our tennis court and basketball court surface and lights this month. It would appear from comments received on the day that our Councillors are very impressed with the facilities and are confident that this money will be well spent on upgrading both courts for the benefit of all who used them. Work will be completed by end of June. Well Done to Moreton Bay Council!

21.01.2022 Heads up to anyone heading out of Brisbane on the Bruce Highway this afternoon. There's a car on its roof in the northbound lanes by the North Lakes exit. Witne...sses said the car rolled a few times but that the driver walked away uninjured. A quick look at the traffic cameras show traffic backed up on the Gateway Motorway and Gympie Road. : Jéssié Owén

07.01.2022 ANZAC DAY 2020 - was PEOPLES DAY in MANGO HILL OUR DIGGERS WOULD BE PROUD OF YOU ALL As Anzac Day 2020 closes, Mangoliers along with so many Aussies ...and Kiwis have proven unquestionably that the Spirit of those first Anzacs & all who have served Australia and New Zealand since, lives on in our hearts and minds. At 6.00am, as the "Last Post" sounded out across the Village, up and down each street via numerous radios/devices, family groups bowed their heads in respect. Down at the Commemoration Stone at the Hall, the Aussie Flag was raised and emotions were further stirred as Louise Winton performed her two so apt personal creations, "Simpson, You are a Hero" & "Grandfather's Clock". Thank you sincerely to ALL who helped along the Way! (Some photos attached tell just a little of the Anzac Story in Mango Hill this Anzac Day.) A very Proud MHPA From Vicki "Since Anzac Day over 100 years ago, the first after the Great War, there were no city marches or parades this year due to Covid-19, just like it was back in 1919 for returning veterans because they were battling the Spanish Flu pandemic. Though our streets were empty once more, to all the unselfish heroes who gave everything for us: the fallen & the returned veterans, our Anzacs were not forgotten. As dawn broke on Anzac Day 2020, I was humbled, proud and impressed to see how many Village families were on their driveways. Afterwards, as I walked the Village Streets I could view all the creative ways our neighbours around the Village paid their respects to honour our Diggers. To All Residents you are to be congratulated. Well done!" Vicki - a So, So proud Mango Hill Resident (who also supplied several photos. - Thank You!)
06.01.2022 We can be quite certain that we will never have to endure the suffering of our forebearers, although we know that the same spirit resides in all of us today as we remember them. #ANZACS #WeShallRememberThem

05.01.2022 COVID19 UPDATE Chris Whiting MP Anzac Day * Its around Anzac Day that Legacy does most of its fundraising to help the families of those Diggers who have been l...ost. But this year, Legacy cant do that fundraising because of COVID-19. * Thats why the Premier announced a $1 million grant for Legacy and $3.5 million for Lifeline to continue the important work they do. Transport Assistance Package. * The Palaszczuk Government has announced a $54.5 million transport assistance package to keep Queensland moving during COVID-19. * Public transport operators have played a huge role on the frontline in this emergency, but the numbers of people using taxis and buses have dropped. * This financial support will go to bus operators across Queensland, from Cairns to the Sunshine Coast. * We will support ferry services going to Thursday Island, Magnetic Island, Minjerribah and Coochiemudlo Island for residents. * Weve already announced support packages for regional airlines going to Cape York, Horn Island, the Torres Strait, Roma, Charleville, Longreach, Blackall and Palm Island. * Were helping the taxis and personalised transport industry by extending the term of all existing driver authorisations licences for six months and waiving some fees and levies. Rent Relief Package * The COVID-19 Emergency Response Bill 2020 (which included the rent relief measures) was passed in Parliament on Wednesday. * The Residential Tenancies Practice Guide is now finalised and will help guide tenants and property owners. * Go to https://www.covid19.qld.gov.au/the-hub for the Guide.
