19.01.2022 I've been blessed with an influx of followers recently so a big welcome if you are new here. It's so lovely to have you following along (and of course, a big wave to long time followers too! ) I thought I should introduce myself & say hi. So seeing mango ink is 11 years old this year, here's 11 fun facts about me & my little business... 1. Mango Ink was born in 2009 but started as Photobooks by Purdie (super creative I know! ) when I designed & created personalised coffee... table books . Over time it has evolved into unique wall art, including letter art name frames, wall spots, streetopia frames and farmhouse signs as well as undergoing a rebrand. However, personalisation remains at the heart of Mango Ink. 2. I grew up in South Australia but after year 12, I moved to Queensland to study at University of Southern Queensland, then returned home to SA 3. I am a self-confessed quote addict 4. I used to be a five-cup-a-day coffee drinker, until one day I went cold turkey 5. I am a farmer’s grand-daughter, daughter, sister, wife, mother and auntie. You could say farming is in the blood 6. The first live concert I went to was Tina Turner 7. I am a qualified journalist and spent several years pre-children working at my local country newspaper 8. When I was younger I had an obsession with green tree frogs 9. I have a terrible memory (I may or may not have purchased a ‘How to improve your memory’ book, and then forgotten I’d bought it, so purchased another one ) 10. I am a better listener than talker 11. Yes, my name is unusual. Yes, I am ALWAYS spelling it out. Yes, I am constantly asked where it’s from (FYI, it’s from a 70s British TV show, The Avengers. One of the lead characters was Purdey, played by Joanna Lumley). I often wonder if being blessed with an unusual name is the underlying reason for my love of personalisation & wanting to make everyone feel unique & special (And bonus fun fact...My eldest daughter & I loved The Greatest Showman movie so much we saw it 3 times at the cinemas! Who doesn't love a bit of Hugh Jackman on repeat?!! )

15.01.2022 Did you know that most of the letters used in our name frames have been found on our family farm in the lower north of South Australia? Letter hunting is lots of fun and it's incredible what you can find in an old ruin or shearing shed! For example, the 'C' in this Tucker name print was a handle on a falling-apart suitcase we discovered in an old ruin! It would be amazing the stories these old items and buildings could tell! 09.01.2022 Introducing our latest pickings fresh from the mango tree....Modern Farmhouse Signs!! These signs are handmade from high-quality Australian milled timber and feature a woven fabric art print, digitally printed locally in the Clare Valley. Each frame is cut, sanded, routered, nailed and stained, all by hand. No huge overseas factory here ... just our little workshop (converted from an old shearing shed on our farm!), some power tools, two sets of hands and a truck load of love...! And because supporting local is important to us, our signs are made from materials sourced from other small South Australian businesses. They are intentionally lightweight which makes hanging on the wall effortless and best of all, keeps postage costs down so you won’t gasp at the checkout! All sorts of thoughts were buzzing around in my head...."What if I'm not good enough? I'm not qualified to do this! What if I fail? Help, I've got no idea what I'm doing!" But boy am I glad i did! 08.01.2022 These last few years have been pretty quiet here at mango ink. Because...well...life! In fact, I think I’ve only done one market since the littlest mango was born (and she’s now three ). In that time, mango ink turned 10...which I can’t quite believe, but I’m really hoping to celebrate a ’belated 10th birthday’ with you all in 2020! While you’ve probably heard crickets on my socials during my little-biz-hibernation , it doesn’t mean the creative juices have stopped flowin...g. I always seem to have ideas swirling around in my head, trust me! For sometime now, I’ve been working on a new line of wall art which I hope to release in coming months. However, I’d love to give you a sneak peek of some preliminary designs, to see what you think! Designed with a modern country style in mind, each one will be hand made, and of course, there will be some personalised options. 07.01.2022 Our modern farmhouse signs are proudly made in South Australia ... created in Mr Mango's home workshop (which has been converted from an old shearing shed) on our family farm Mr Mango, who is a 6th generation farmer and loves working with timber, is responsible for the frame construction while I take care of the design/printing, sanding, staining and finishing off details.
