22.01.2022 Project: Tower Street Tower St is one of our earlier design projects. The clients intent was to create a peaceful enclosed outdoor space alongside a new living, dining & bedroom/bathroom extension. Flanking the northern edge of the existing Queenslander residence, the new building was designed to emulate the character of the original building. Part of the clients brief was to position the building to utilise the space over an in-ground septic system which would have previous...ly been unusable with a traditional slab on ground. It is a lightweight timber construction on a raised steel deck with hardwood chamfer board cladding to match the existing residence. New timber decking marries new to old & completes the picture. The Manhattan Design Co completed the preliminary design, full construction documentation & assisted with local council certification. Structural design was also required on this project due to the load imposed near existing infrastructure. All in all this was a straight foreward design & completed build which the owner is very happy with. Ready for summer & a BBQ next to the pool. See more
