02.01.2022 Shane Mason Hand Operated Fire Pumper, which was imported to Australia by MC McKenzie & Sons Manilla in 1923, after fire destroyed their original store in 1922. As a condition of their Insurance Renewal, they had to have a fire tender on site. Water was pumped from the Namoi River by a steam pump to a high tank at the rear of the present store (IGA). This pump was made in England in 1918, and displayed in Tamworth on the weekend of the 24th January, along with other Classic Fire Engines by the Tamworth Classic Fire Engine Club.
