10.01.2022 The junction of the Manilla and Namoi Rivers was for generations, a camping ground for the local indigenous people, members of the large Kamilaroi tribes of northwestern New South Wales. Our Purpose is to once again be the caretaker's of the land, local artefact's, wildlife and heritage sites. In 1853, enterprising Englishman George Veness arrived at ‘The Junction’ to set up a store and wine shop at the camping ground. In doing so, Veness led the way to town settlement and is... acknowledged as the Founder of Manilla. In 2020 enterprising aboriginal man Michael Finch led the way to Improved health outcomes and corroboree by founding the Manilla Local Aboriginal Corporation and Land Council to engage closely with our community to reduce their risk and increase their resilience by developing and delivering a range of community safety initiatives and prevention programs. Also undertake ground-breaking research and benchmark our performance against national standards in injury and property loss prevention. We partner with other agencies to ensure communities receive a seamless and professional service. To provide cultural education, capacity and guidance to consistently demonstrate respect toward colleagues, the community and all others regardless of background, gender, age or differences.
